Good post.

My wife (teacher in Denton) and son both dealt with a stomach virus this weekend. My toilets saw about ten years of use in 3 days. That's how bad it was with 2 people opening the flood gates out of both ends. My wife missed work for 3 days and my son missed school for 2 and his football game Saturday. I heard this bug was running rampant through Denton schools. I guess the Universities couldn't avoid it either. I feel for those kids who had to deal with that up in Alabama. Wow...

Mac setting up the fanbase for a dose of reality come year's end?

I thing Brett hit on all his points. I'm a huge Mac fan but the dropoff we've seen is disappointing and has to be placed at his doorstep...

This about sums it up. This is what we'll see the rest of the season from DW.

McNulty is not a FBS caliber starting QB, IMO. You guys are going way overboard here. We lost a TON of seniors last year. Combine that with a redshirt freshman QB and this is what reality has brought us. Sure, we all hoped young/inexperienced players could step right in and keep the train moving, but it ain't happening. This team will have to grow and gain experience. Add a couple of JUCO players at WR, LBer, & DB and in a couple of years as the current crop matures, the team will be competing for a CUSA title again. That's our reality right now, folks............

Mac said at the beginning of the year the biggest question is if NT could backfill and prove they have surpassed the hump with recruiting. With his latest admission that the team has less talent and its recent performance, we're all staring at the answer we were hoping to avoid. If you're implying it's more injuries than anything, I'm hoping you're right....

No way. It's one season, let's see what happens next year.

I agree. I think Mac had to pull him today. You don't want to drop the kids confidence into an abyss. Reset and start again next week. Positive baby steps...

March right back out there next week with the most talented players at every position. Play the season out and get better. We all knew backfilling with talent was the huge question mark this year. Well, we've found out Mac hasn't done that very well. These guys are going to have to develop on a trial by fire basis. We probably won't see this team turn the corner for another couple of years as these kids mature. Much like last years senior laden team....

The D sorely misses Trice, Orr, Wright, etc. No doubt about it. They seem to always be a step slower this year. They've lost some speed this year...

This is the wrong way to approach this. Reality hurts, but this team will have to scratch, claw, & get a few lucky bounces to win 6. DW is the most talented QB by far. Play him out this season, he will get better. We knew this was going to happen, these games will occur with a young QB.

QB? I'm guessing

No way. The TOs at QB deflated the team. How hard is it to play flawless to make up a 21pt deficit? We're talking 2 weeks in a row. The Ds been playing behind the 8 ball year because of QB play. Now I'm not excusing them because they have problems too, but it's hard to take risks when you're forced to pitch a perfect game every week. They're not getting help and it's hurting their confidence.

Talent trumps all in sports. McNulty is a backup. You don't win diddle squat with the NcNulty's of the world. You win with the DWs. It's the coaches job to get the DWs of this world up to their potential...

DW will & should start the rest of the year.

TOs have to stop for this team to even have a chance. Let's start there first. DW has to grow each week, not regress. I hope the coaches can help him there....
