Some things in life are badThey can really make you madOther things just make you swear and curseWhen you're chewing on life's gristleDon't grumble, give a whistleAnd this'll help things turn out for the bestAnd always look on the bright side of life

Dajon looked like Heisman material when compared to Nephew McNutty and Greer-in-the-Headlights. Dajon had faults, huge faults, huge glaring faults, but the one eyed man is revered as a god in the land of the blind. *Oh, and would the weasel that gave me the negative feedback please list the merits of those two.

This thread is silly. Fans don't need to display how distraught they are at athletic events. Just because fans are not throwing tantrums does not mean that they are content with their team losing.

You're correct Ryan, and if you can produce that design I will be happy to revise my post.

It does look nice. It may be several years, but I look forward to when North Texas expands Apogee east side seating and gives the stadium a more symmetrical look.

Hey, I'm fine with whatever, that is, unless Austin is predicting that we will all be blinded by the eclipse and attacked by triffids. I hope that doesn't happen.

Her husband played football at the University of South Carolina, and her son currently plays for Virginia Tech. I'd be willing to guess that she is not only a fan of college football, but is also quite knowledgeable about it. I am really liking our university leadership as far as athletics are concerned.

I too thought the Border Twins had a rivalry brewing...sort of like Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, but with blue and orange sombreros.

That's easy. If he had somehow managed to last until the 2001 season he would have been terminated immediately after the loss in Monroe.

Evidence suggests North Texas does not care about attendance at this first game. Denton's average temperature for September 2 is in the mid-nineties, and barring some unseen catastrophic event that would send Earth careening off it's axis sunset will not be until 7:52 that night. Kickoff is set for 6:00. That is almost two sold hours for students and fans in the entire east side and wing seats to bake while staring into the glare of the sun. This sucks. Is the excitement of the Lamar rivalry really enough to offset this horrendous planning? Will the fans that attend have a favorable experience and desire to return for more games? Will the students decide that it's just more fun to stay outside the stadium partying on the hill? I realize that fans in the cocktail level are only concerned with ice sculptures, bonbons, and the ability to get home early for beloved reruns of Murder She Wrote, but an adjustment really needs to be made for these September games to benefit all the other fans in the stadium. Other colleges schedule kickoffs at 7:30 or later, all high schools schedule kickoffs at 7:30, but North Texas is stuck in an attendance killing 6:00 kickoff rut. Rick never learned this lesson and his deadbeat staff referred to it as insurmountable UNT fan apathy. Maybe Wren can figure it out.

I only have one tattoo, but it's in very large print and says: "Welcome to Jamaica, Have a Nice Day"

I have no idea why 3 of his players were suspended, but the Western Kentucky sportscasters practically started crying when Ray Harper announced his resignation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PpmwwBL-2x0

Well we lose 106 - 104. Benford era over.

Horrocks played only for his final year(83-84) at North Texas after transferring from UTEP. He was drafted in the 4th round by the Mavericks but was a long shot to make their roster. It would have been nice if Blakely was retained for this season. Kenny Lyons may have decided to stay for his final year and North Texas would have honored its commitment to point guard Spud Webb. Oh, what could have been. Blakely's replacement, Tommy Newman, was totally clueless at evaluating recruits. North Texas' basketball program quickly became a dumpster fire and has never fully recovered.

This is North Texas, and the athletic department actually "selling the experience" ends at that elevator down to where the commoners sit. There just has not been enough entertainment value to offset the costs and hassles of game days, and many fans stopped attending after the first season at Apogee. The really sad part is that there are so many thousand fans that just keep looking for any reason to be enthusiastic about North Texas but can't ever find one. North Texas has 3 NCAA postseason victories in all spectator sports combined, in its 127 year history. That's an abysmal lack of success. Most colleges get more than that in any given year. Wren Baker has a chance, one chance, to show potential fans that he's really trying to change things. If average sports fans have to ask "who's that?" when the new basketball coach is announced, then he has failed. Anything but a splash hire will be viewed as typical North Texas business as usual.
