Ten takeaways from North Texas' loss to UAB
ADLER replied to Philip Ferguson's topic in Mean Green Football
Matthew Brune should explain that the "Burn Everything" fans are a tiny percentage and that the overwhelming percentage see the season progressing just about the same way that he does. Brune is an incredibly gifted writer but he should not give too much voice to a few idiots and trolls screaming that the the sky is falling. -
UTSA’s new Cannon is ferocious we should fear them
ADLER replied to Legend500's topic in Mean Green Football
Maybe, if they built a wooden badger...... -
Sadly we do not have control of Thursday night games. We are obligated to fulfill a television contract. But, expect a huge student turnout for the Thursday game because it's a night game.

Families with children have scheduling conflicts with anything before 4:00 on any Saturday: kids activities for school, scouts, sports, or birthday parties. People also like to tailgate and these gamedays have become much more of an event than just a football game. Pregame is the only opportunity to revel with anyone other than the fans that are next to you in the game. Keep the games as late as feasible.

There are always going to be rare individuals that prefer matinee movies, but there is a reason theaters have to offer deep discounts to get people to attend during that less desirable time of day.

I'll simplify it for him. 7:00 Kickoffs in September 6:00 Kickoffs in October 5:00 Kickoffs in November You can't be disappointed by the fans not filling the stadium when you are letting the people in the caviar suites pick the game times. Our fan base was made by tailgating but the caviar and bonbon crowd has their party upstairs during the games.

Monsoon games happen, and even if it didn't happen yesterday it was certainly forecast as a monsoon game and even had a lightning delay. I cannot blame fans and students for not attending. I was there with my family, prepared as best for the elements, and had been hoping while driving to Denton that the day would not be an an endless series of weather delays.

Hey Sanitation Department! Really, Please Come And Take It! -
Fine dining. I think we're having that for Thanksgiving this year.

Tune into KNTU 88.1 to follow details as they progress. https://www.kntu.com/ update: KNTU just stated 1:35 kickoff.

I think your memory is playing tricks on you.

Wow, as an amateur historian I have enjoyed this thread. The underground government complex on the east loop: I toured this facility, at least a small part of it in the 1980's when it was still closed to the public (it still may be for all I know, and it may have been destroyed). The missile base...it's still there, off North locust just south of Milam Rd where the KNTU tower stands. (look on Google Earth) I went there a couple times with friends late at night in the later 80's. There are three rusted silo bays, huge rectangular trap doors each longer than an 18 wheeler, and a small tunnel entrance for each about 30 feet way. There were large padlocks on each entrance, but one padlock was much newer and larger than the other two. This padlock was on a large rusted loop through a steel slot, but the slotted steel piece was fastened closed by one large rusted nut that was easily removed by hand. The whole overbuilt lock assembly was way too easy to unlock, flip over, and open the steel hatch that led down a long concrete staircase in a concrete tunnel. There was a light switch at the bottom of the stairs. The lights in the cavernous room came on and the room started humming loudly and there were a series of loud clunking sounds as ancient hydraulic equipment sprang to life. There were hundreds of boxes marked North Texas so it was apparent that we weren't the first to visit but this was still an amazing facility to explore. The bay doors up top snapped open instantly with the push of a button, and a lever on the missile pad instantly raised the whole platform flush at ground level. Way too cool! We returned everything back to its original position, tuned off the power and resealed the door locks when we left. Always thought I'd some night go back and to photograph the facility but I think that opportunity has long ago passed.

Just what is tuebedvawsy? I understood all the rant except that.

Final: UAB 28, La Tech 7. CUSA West Race is Wide Open
ADLER replied to ADLER's topic in Mean Green Football
I stand corrected, as you are right, but I really like our chances if we win out from here. -
Total Reset. Three Way Tie for first place in CUSA West is worst possible for North Texas if the Mean Green win out. Tonight's close game with UTEP proved that every and any game can be a dog fight. Go Mean Green!

I wouldn't worry too much about that. ESPN owns the Dallas, Ft Worth, and Frisco bowls. ESPN wants to sell tickets and they have the ability to trade teams around to get butts in seats. North Texas would sell a lot for each of these bowls, and would even bring a large contingency to Shreveport. We'll be fine.

I'm just impressed that NM Green, after having such a long exhausting day, still found the energy late at night to invent the word "tuebedvawsy".

I don't know if the land could be obtained, but I would like to see the expanded Bonnie Brae routed west of the railroad tracks and the new tailgating lots and rejoining the current route south of Willowwood Street. A major thoroughfare where it currently sits is going to be a safety nightmare especially with all the developments planned for southwestern Denton and northern Argyle.

Praise for Mason Fine (and how far we've come)
ADLER replied to meangreen2016's topic in Mean Green Football
Quinn Shambour has been preparing like 17 years for this opportunity and he won't let us down. He has certainly earned my trust. He may not be The Legend Mason, but the force is strong in this one. -
And that Liberty squad that we stomped 47-7 last week went on the road this week and whipped New Mexico. It's true that beating UNM is no major feat, but Liberty dominated, leading 42-10 at the half before calling off the dogs. The beatdown was so thorough that many UNM supporters are wondering why they still retain a football program.

Well, they did suffer from a little thing called "Division from Within". Here to explain in a graphic is an unnamed coach wearing maroon. "Division from Within MFers, Division from Within, we suffer from Division from Within. Now run straight to the locker room guys and don't you dare be caught partaking in the barbecue that the booster organization provided."

Not wanting to rain on the fiesta, but, didn't Joe' son Delon also wear number 75 after he transferred from Pitt?

The three western tiny privates of the AAC don't look bowl bound at this time. The Frisco Bowl will be looking for a school that can fill all the seats as the eastern AAC representative will likely not travel well to Frisco.
