  1. I second that. The worst of all possible scenarios. Yuk! That's the kind of place you'd send a school like UTSA.
  2. It's starting right now on ESPN with the Playoff Selection Show and the bowls will then start announcing their selections accordingly. Who get which bowls, and who gets the sad UTSA treatment and gets left out? (UTSA 2017) In which bowl will UNT be playing? Is it time to start making travel plans, book flights and hotels, or get to plan bowl parties and tailgating for a local venue? Stay tuned, and Happy Bowl Selection Day to all. Keep your fingers crossed.
  3. Same New Jersey station had this: FIRST RESPONDER BOWL (Dec. 26): Duke vs. Marshall Let's think for a minute. ESPN owns both bowls and desperately wants to sell tickets. Which CUSA school is ESPN going to put in the FIRST RESPONDER BOWL in Dallas? Even the Independence Bowl would select North Texas before inviting this combo: INDEPENDENCE BOWL (Dec. 27): Virginia vs. Middle Tennessee
  4. It would, but it didn't happen that way. We still had a very good season just not as good as it could have been. We've won 9 games in consecutive seasons. I have followed North Texas football for decades and think that not only is this one of the better eras, things are only looking even better for the future. It could always be worse. We could be like New Mexico, UTSA, and Tulsa; strapped with lame duck coaches that they cannot afford to fire.
  5. The Texas State fees for athletics are much higher than at UNT. I believe they are at $22 per credit hour, which is around $660 per full time student per year. With 29k students, that's an athletic budget of $20 milllion from students, and that's in addition to donations, ticket sales, and media. Their athletic budget is very similar to UTSA's even though very few attend Texas State games, and their athletic budget is significantly higher than a school like SMU or Tulsa.
  6. FBS teams to never trail by more than one possession all season:- Alabama- North TexasThat’s it.
  7. The national media respects Notre Dame and BYU as P5 level football programs and somewhat with Boise St as well.
  8. Next game is Wednesday December 5, 6:00 PM at Iowa State University in Ames Iowa. I wish this could have been in Denton but Ames probably has better weather and airport accessibility. https://cyclones.com/news/2018/12/1/volleyball-isu-unt-nivc-quarterfinal-set-for-dec-5-6-pm.aspx "The winner of the match will advance to the semifinal round to play the winner of UNLV and Portland. The date, time and site of the match will be announced following the conclusion of the semifinal between the Rebels and Pilots."
  9. It looks like Colby Carthel is accepting the SFA head coaching job: http://footballscoop.com/news/source-colby-carthel-new-head-coach-stephen-f-austin/
  10. I like their research, especially the part about how Vic Trilli took North Texas to the NCAA Tourney.
  11. You guys did a great job flooding the twitter. That needs to continue until the metroplex media outlets figure out that that there are more than five times as many North Texas grads in D/FW than from any other football playing school.
  12. The security is there to make sure that somebody does not dump another one of those in the Alamo Dome. Sure its a small risk, but would anybody really want to take that chance?
  13. Yeah, next time they might consider getting a first down in the first three quarters, or before their opponent has scored 36 points. They were seriously curb stomped and were never in any way, shape, or form competitive in that game.
  14. How sad for them.
  15. BYU draws a national TV audience. That would benefit the Dallas bowl and our school of we make a good showing.
  16. From the same poster 5/31/2018 : Thank you for your concern for the safety and well being of our fans of all ages. I hadn't even considered the dangers to families with young children that may be trapped outside in a heat wave with no access to shade.
  17. There is very little chance of this game being televised, therefore North Texas has freedom to schedule the kickoff at a decent hour. Average temperature for this date is in the low 90's with the record high being 111. The sun does not set on this date until 7:56 . Scheduling a kickoff before 7:30 that evening would just be the athletic department giving the finger to the students and fans of North Texas.
  18. It's torches and pitchforks for Frank if UTSA gets their butts kicked in this game. He's coaching to get one more year. Prepare for the nUTSAcks as always to throw everything at their Super Bowl, every trick play, every low blow, and every rabbit punch. End result no matter what: North Texas goes bowling as always, and Rice and the Border Twins stay home.
  19. Sports Illustrated projection: SERVPRO First Responders Bowl, Dallas (1:30 p.m. ET, ESPN)Big Ten vs. Conference USABYU* vs. North Texas Walk-On's Independence Bowl, Shreveport, La. (1:30 p.m. ET, ESPN)SEC vs. ACCUAB* vs. Miami
  20. CBS (Jerry Palm -this guy doesn't do much research) projection: New Mexico Bowl Dec. 15 Albuquerque, N.M. C-USA vs. Mountain West North Texas vs. Nevada First Responder Bowl Dec. 26 Dallas, Tex. Big Ten vs. ACC/C-USA San Diego State+ vs. W. Michigan+
  21. ESPN (the people that pay for the bowl) projection: SERVPRO First Responder Bowl Cotton Bowl, Dallas Dec. 26, 1:30 p.m. (ESPN) Bonagura: BYU vs. North Texas Sherman: North Texas vs. BYU
  22. SBNation Bowl projection: SERVPRO (Dallas): Arkansas State* vs. North Texas
  23. They have a good chance to beat 2-9 Tulsa next week to get to 6 wins.
  24. I think this is an improvement over the Tony Benford coaching.
