Plumm's right, we would benefit greatly from the exposure on regular television in the metroplex. Students like to attend events that are being televised, and it has enormous value to local recruits who's friends and extended families can watch their games from home. I don't know if it would be cost prohibitive or if a UNT Network would violate the CUSA contracts, but certainly we could outbid the Saturday Autorama and other infomercial shows for air time. This is what WKU does for their basketball program and it has been incredibly successful.

OK, untjim, you, MGNation92, and Rudy may begin grovelling now.

It's kind of like the children's story The Emperor's New Clothes . Jazz sucks, everybody knows it sucks, but nobody wants to be the person to admit it. (This is where one pseudo-intellectual lies and pretends he actually likes jazz) How bad is it? Nobody would ever go back to prison if they played KNTU music. Seriously, how many thousand times can we sit through "A jazz ensemble made famous in 1927 by Spanish composer blah blah blah..." I'm not saying we need to play Rocky and Star Wars for every halftime show, but I'd love to see the Green Brigade finally cut themselves free of that jazz albatross they've been dragging for over half a century. I get it, that music was popular at one time, very very long ago, but it's outdated and stinks now. Jazz is to music what Surströmming is to food. Other than that, I love the Green Brigade.

UNT Experience from a Houston fan perspective
ADLER replied to Coach Andy Mac's topic in Mean Green Football
I asked the Houston fans sitting on my row about the drive up and they said that they're alumni and that the live pretty close. He further stated that only a small percentage of their DFW alumni chapter actually live in Dallas or Ft Worth, and that most live in the cities on the north side of the metroplex: Allen, Plano, Carrolton, Flower Mound, Coppell, etc. and that games in Denton are much more accessible than games at the tiny privates. He said their chapter helps market UH in those suburban high schools by sponsoring football games. I hadn't heard about that, but it makes sense he said because they heavily recruit those schools for students. -
I have heard about this...... When your sandwich mysteriously disappears... Be Afraid...Be Very Afraid. .

Its a metaphor for life and sports, how they control you, and what you can do to control them. As Walt Whitman famously said, sometimes you've got to "hit the mascot", or was that Crash Davis? One of those, but you get the point.

Yes, as best I know, RV was not involved in the selection process for Seth. 100% sure would require proof, and you'd need to contact somebody directly involved for verification. Either way, I love what RV had done for this program, and I am thrilled with the way that athletics are progressing with Baker.

Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, and sometimes it rains. Think about that for a while.

Yeah, and what about our students! They don't give a damn about any trumpet playing band. It ain't what they call rock and roll.

Holy smokes, can you kids overreact. As Vito often states "Winning is less about the X's and the O's and more about the Jimmys and the Joes." Upper tier G5 schools like UCF, Boise, and Houston still recruit at a higher level than North Texas but that gap is narrowing as our recruiting level is getting better every single year.

Huh? The track and soccer facility faces the sun and is uncomfortably hot, and the small roof only shades the area behind the stands? Why didn't somebody point out this obvious blunder when the artists renderings were first released? Oh wait, that Adler guy did.

Much like Family Week last year when we hosted Louisiana Tech, parking is going to be a mess, even with the expanded lots. You don't want to miss the first quarter because the pay lots were already full and you had to park on the far side of campus or chance Cement City.

7:17 PM Sunset in Denton, TX Saturday, September 28, 2019 (CDT) It wont be dark at kickoff but the sun will be way past the west stands shading the student and guest sections. This is why September games in Texas should NEVER start before 7:00.

Just the opposite, this could benefit the G5 programs. Let's just say, the G5 programs instituted that each school could offer 22 players $100K per year to play there. It would cost only $2.2 million per year but you'd be able to steal all the best players form the P5 programs. Most, if not all, of the P5 programs could not afford to pay ALL of their 85 players that amount and would then require that the whole system get corrected. Eventually you get back to the NCAA receiving and distributing all television and merchandise fees, exactly how it used to be, but with a fair amount going to each athlete (in all sports).

Bless their little hearts, but they write for the NT Daily and probably don't know that a team has more than one quarterback, that more than one rarely are on the field at the same time. They would be so much better off, and avoid this type of embarrassment, if they asked Matthew Brune to proof read and edit their materials before they publish them to the web.

He forgot to mention in his North Texas update that Sosaia Mose has hands like a Greek god.

DRC Friday Q&A with Joseph Duarte of the Houston Chronicle
ADLER replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
It's almost like he was thrown to the wolves by an offensive coordinator that had already accepted another job but UH mad him stay through the bowl game. -
I can't say this means they don't support the team, but it does imply that they aren't knowledgeable about the subject. Houston is a team that started the season with aspirations of achieving a New Years Six bowl. They lost a slugfest with #4 Oklahoma, lost a shootout with ranked Washington St, and were edged in a freak loss to a good Tulane team. They may have lost a star player or two, as have we, but they certainly aren't suddenly a weak opponent. They are still strong and they are still dangerous despite losing a key player or two.
-
Quarterbackless Houston? That's crazy to imply. Clayton Tune was rated higher than our starting quarterback as a recruit, and Tune has also started several games in his Houston career. Mason Fine certainly has more experience, and can be deadly accurate, but Tune is also talented and will be distributing the ball to a well established arsenal of receivers. Odd fact, Clayton Tune was a North Texas fan while his older brother Nathan played there, and was recruited heavily by North Texas before signing with Houston. His backup at Houston was committed to North Texas for a long while before his father accepted the head coaching job at Houston. .

Perfect football weather, still just a tad warm at kickoff, but that can easily be offset by the roving "Ice Coooold Beer! guys. Absolutely perfect tailgating weather. Isn't Life Swell?

Official Houston Game Score Prediction Thread
ADLER replied to MeanGreenTexan's topic in Mean Green Football
It pains me greatly to say it, but I agree with much of what CK4 said. Houston is a very good team that may have lost a couple of star players but they have very capable replacements. They've lost to two ranked teams and to Tulane on one of those nights where absolutely everything bounced Tulane's way. That said, the circus this week must have been somewhat distracting, and we have a pretty strong home field advantage. North Texas 98 Houston 98 Coaches are forced to wrestle to decide winner and Dana concedes defeat when Seth breaks his arm again.
