Great! Just Great! Now you've gone and done it also... MEAN GREEN CRICKET! (I've heard it's quite popular with our I.T. majors)

Great. Just Friggin Great. You had to acknowledge the wasp and post about it on here. Now you've really done it. Next thing you know, The NT Daily will pick up the damn story... And then... We'll be stuck with... Mean Green WASP Our Newest Alternate Mascot! .

Are there any examples of players grad-transferring up to a P5, especially after a season ending injury, and then getting the opportunity to excel? I don't recall any. I really hope you're right if he does risk transferring but I don't think its in his best interest, at least for football.
-
Problem is he probably wouldn't be provided that opportunity. First, he'd be learning a new system and rehabbing an injury; both uphill challenges, but not insurmountable. Here's the problem, every coach wants quality depth at his skill positions, but every coach wants to look competent at his profession. That coach's own P5 recruits, probably 3* & 4* guys are going to get preferential treatment over the new transfer. Having a 2* kid transfer in from some 'small G5 school' and beat out your highly lauded recruits makes you look like you don't know how to evaluate talent. Rico, a star player at North Texas, could wind up wasting his time riding the pine at some P5 school. There's nothing wrong with that if he's only there for academic pursuits, but he does deserve his shot at the NFL.

Question: Are TD’s Not Automatically Reviewed Anymore?
ADLER replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
As it turns out the minute and a half saved by the erroneous touchdown call came back to benefit us in the end when we used that time to drive for the winning field goal. Poor MTSU, nothing ever seems to go right for them. At least they got to see our new indoor practice facility. -
I think he would be better prepared for the NFL staying at North Texas as a primary receiver versus trying to crack an established depth chart at a P5 school. The NFL is going to want to see high production as verification that he has recovered from a season ending injury. I'm happy for him whatever he decides, especially if its for academic reasons, but his best shot at pro ball would still be by playing where he'll get the most catches. Great kid, and I am thankful for all he has done here.

People were probably definitely saying the same about the Bulldogs playing in Denton last year.

Question: Are TD’s Not Automatically Reviewed Anymore?
ADLER replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
Good catch F'nRick, I can't say when reviews are performed, as this clearly appears to be an error. I'm just happy that touchdown didn't tip the final score in Middle Schools favor. -
Good analysis by Brett of where the team is, how we got here, and the possibilities for the future. I hope stating these facts doesn't make him a "Littrell Homer" to our boards debby downers and negative nancies.

I thought the Green Brigade was outstanding, as always, and they played familiar music. I would love to see comedy routines occasionally mixed into the repertoire like at Ohio State, but the Brigade was still excellent.

Damn these Debbie Downers and Murderers of Joy. Simple facts: These were two 2-4 G5 level teams, and the game was being played early on Saturday. Students have shown they'll show well for night games, even if its a weeknight game. Staring into the sun for 3 hours is a beating. Alumni have shown that they wont go to early games until late in the season. There are just too many other daytime obligations. So, fewer students were drawn to this game, and considering the records of the competitors, few single game tickets were sold. And There You Have It

Win Out and We Are CUSA Western Division Champions
ADLER replied to ADLER's topic in Mean Green Football
So, I am a "Littrell Homer" for factually stating that we are guaranteed a share of the CUSA Western Division championship if we win all our remaining games, and that we can win it outright and possibly host the championship game if, in addition, USM loses to either Marshall or FAU. These aren't opinions. These are facts. So then, who has their blind eye towards reality? -
Win Out and We Are CUSA Western Division Champions
ADLER replied to ADLER's topic in Mean Green Football
That's what today's La Tech defeat of Southern Miss enabled. -
Nothing is a given, but that game at La Tech is by far the biggest challenge for the rest of this season. Several of the others are having disappointing seasons. UAB is still doing well, but I expect Mason to unleash hell on that team in Apogee after last season's game in Birmingham.

Win Out and We Are CUSA Western Division Champions
ADLER replied to ADLER's topic in Mean Green Football
The Frisco Bowl would be rockin' if North Texas played there, and the HOD being played in Ford Stadium would also be an excellent venue for North Texas. We would have an excellent chance of playing in one of these if we either tie for CUSA West or win it outright. -
Win Out and We Are CUSA Western Division Champions
ADLER replied to ADLER's topic in Mean Green Football
The goal at this point is to do well enough to secure the HOD invite, or get the Frisco, Armed Forces, or Independence if they become available. And we can still win CUSA-West in the process, and possibly the league title. Today was a trap game against a solid team fighting for its life. It was close, but we won. -
Win Out and We Are CUSA Western Division Champions
ADLER replied to ADLER's topic in Mean Green Football
But, if Southern Miss loses to either WKU or FAU, and North Texas has beaten La Tech.... we could be hosting the championship game. There's still a lot of football to be played but we are still, to a large extent, in charge of our own destiny. -
Win Out and We Are CUSA Western Division Champions
ADLER replied to ADLER's topic in Mean Green Football
Middle Tennessee is a good team that was fighting for its life today. Sure they were 2 -4 but those losses were against Michigan, Iowa, Duke, and at Florida Atlantic. I doubt we would have gone undefeated through those four either. *** by the Down Votes at least two people disagree and think we would have gone undefeated against Michigan, Iowa, Duke, and at Florida Atlantic. Darned optimists ***- 37 replies

Win Out and We Are CUSA Western Division Champions
ADLER replied to ADLER's topic in Mean Green Football
What tiebreaker? They would have beaten us, La Tech would have beaten USM, and we would have beaten La Tech. And for the record, I couldn't give a rats rear about playing in the CUSA Championship game if we're not hosting it. -
La Tech beat Southern Miss today 45 - 30. If North Texas wins its remaining games, including the November 9 game against La Tech in Ruston, the Mean Green are guaranteed to be CUSA Western Division Champions. La Tech and Southern Miss could still be CUSA Co-Champions with North Texas if they also win out in remaining games not against UNT, but La Tech has to play at Marshall on 11/15 and Southern Miss has to deal with east leading WKU and FAU in its last two games. This can still turn out to be quite a season.

The Athletic Department scheduled a 3:00 kickoff to help keep attendance figure low. Or maybe they did it to accommodate the all-important Facebook TV schedule. Either way, they got the expected result.

Why are the Rivals rankings Click Here so different? Who's are more accurate? How, and why? How can anybody accurately evaluate the thousands of 3* level players across the country for any of these services? And I am not putting down the recruiting ranking services as they are the best measuring tools available.
