That would have been back when the Big XII was UT, OU, and the nameless dwarfs. The Big XII didn't need additional viewers and nobody wanted more divisions to the pie. As per the video, ESPN will not want to fund a severely depleted AAC at its current value and has essentially an escape clause if the ACC drops below 15 members for even a tiny amount of time. ESPN is partners with the Big XII and would consider the Louisville and Pitt viewership to be incredibly valuable. And... the seven ACC schools fighting to leave the conference prior to June 30 (Magnificent 7) will need will need at least one more escapee to join them to dissolve the conference.

Speculation from a Big XII perspective.

And Now, The Larch. And Now for Something Completely Different..

True. Andy had an incredibly mediocre record in 11 years vs Pac12 competition and it was very obvious that his 2024-2025 squad would be challenged to even be competitive in the BIG10. He realized that he'd surely be terminated after another lackluster season. Instead of working to keep his job he cowardly jumped in the first lifeboat available. He had previously coached at USC and was headed for the BIG 10. Now he'll be coaching at our prissy little sister school as it becomes the sad wheelless caboose dragging behind the ACC Train while the engines and lead cars all start uncoupling to escape elsewhere.
-
Not overwhelmed nor underwhelmed, just whelmed. He does seem to be a competent coach for our prissy little sister school. Went 105-100 over 11 seasons with USC against their PAC12 competition; that's fairly average against comparable competition and I fail to see what quality makes him so much more desirable to SMU than was Lanier.

The Big 12 is chomping at the bit to get ahold of Louisville and Pitt once they make themselves available.

Duke has to keep its options open. The ACC is toast if the projected defections happen. Seven current ACC members; Clemson, Florida State, North Carolina, Miami, NC State, Virginia, and Virginia Tech are exploring options with Florida State and Clemson already suing to escape. On the other side The Big Ten wants Notre Dame and has already annexed about every single Irish rival except Stanford. They are now in perfect position to take both. Virginia and North Carolina are the top prizes bolting from the ACC because of their media value and are highly desired by both the Big Ten and the SEC. There will be a mass exodus of remaining schools applying for Big 12 membership if Stanford, Notre Dame, Virginia, and North Carolina all accept their forecasted P2 invitations. This will leave Boston College and Wake Forest with the Washington State/Oregon State dilemma; owning a legendary conference name but without any media contracts, and Cal and SMU relegated to the discard table again.

Sad to see him go but he has to do what's best for him especially if he didn't foresee getting sufficient playing time here. I loved when his father played at North Texas during the Jimmy Gales years, and his brother Bobo would have been best served if he had transferred here after committing to LSU and enrolling at UCLA. Baylor never provided him an opportunity to develop. Best of luck young man.

Society has been pressured since 2020 to make a lot of incredibly stupid decisions. *** and there's at least 6 people on this board that love the stupid decisions agenda *** .

Pure and simple, Sanford deserved to win. That's fact. Another fact is that both of my nieces graduated from Samford.

So, you're saying that if somebody offered you a quarter million dollars to cheer for Oklahoma this year instead of North Texas that you would turn it down? If you, a dedicated supporter can be bought, then how can you expect a player to not take advantage of that offer.
-
I'd love for every star player to stay at North Texas for the remainder of their college eligibility, but... I also want what's best for our players. If a player receives an extremely lucrative offer to play elsewhere I fully encourage him/her to transfer and accept it. Perry did EVERYTHING he could do for this program while he was here and only left when KSU reportedly offered him a quarter million dollars. That's pretty serious money for most college students. We just need to build our fan base to the point where we can afford to retain that type of player.

This was an outstanding season and I can't believe that North Texas basketball fans are complaining about losing in the second round of the NIT, on the road to a very good Seton Hall team, with a team that lost its coach and most of its starters to graduation and the transfer portal. We've been spoiled as very, very few teams win as consistently as our does. The teams are doing their part. Our challenge now is to build up the fan base so that we can afford to retain productive players. That means selling tickets, marketing the program, and promoting the hell out of our branding.

Some days you eat the bear, and some days the bear eats you. All our guys can hit layups and free throws. Today they just didn't fall while we were playing against a very good team in a loud hostile environment. Basketball Gods, please grant us the serenity to accept the things we cannot change, the courage to change the things we can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Down 66 - 44. SHU has ball
-
We're in trouble. Everything's falling for Seton Hall, nothing's falling for North Texas. The opportunities are there but we tempted fate by wearing our bad luck uniforms.
-
We started the game so well, then Seton Hall has outscored us 25-10 since we passed the ball to the official. Not only does it look bad, but monkeying with uniforms just causes mistakes.
-
All started when Walker passed the ball to an official who's also dressed in black.
-
I don't know, but Walker just passed the ball to an official. Playing f*f* with our uniforms could continue to be costly in close games.

I would still love to see him in our Hall of Fame. Does the transfer totally eliminate that opportunity?

Ah, yes, those good old days with Larry Brown. And only a couple decades after SMU Basketball earned the much deserved DEATH PENALTY. For those that don't remember, SMU earned the Death Penalty for Football, Men's Track & Field, and Men's Basketball. Even though SMU Men's Track & Field, and Men's Basketball both earned the Death Penalty, the incredibly kind and overly forgiving NCAA only imposed that Death Penalty on their Football program. ***The entire SMU Athletics Program was already on probation and SMU Basketball earned the Death Penalty the moment that Center Jon Koncak admitted that the basketball players were also being paid.***
