  1. Oregon moves to second round with 1 - 0 forfeit victory. Fans are melting down on VCURamNation.com much the same as would be expected anywhere. Their fans that travelled must be going nuts. "How can you be in the freakin' bubble for 6 days and then test positive??? WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Multiple Positive Tests reported for their team.

    NIT

From ODU BBALL: It's too bad that WKU and La Tech have to play each other so early in the tournament, but it's great that the NIT is guaranteed to have a CUSA team in their Final Four. .
  3. Well, it is 2021
  4. We are conference championship contenders in just about every team sport. Not every sport, but most, and even those others are showing promise. Football, which many of us realize has not yet reached it's potential, has earned a bowl game four of the last five years, and we should hopefully start to see results of significantly improved recruiting. Our Soccer team has been nationally ranked and annually racking up CUSA Championship trophies. The North Texas Men's Basketball team is repeat CUSA champs and currently making waves in the NCAA Tournament. The North Texas Women's Basketball team also has had an outstanding season. They would have won the CUSA Championship if they would have been able to maintain their fourth quarter lead on Rice on March 3. Great job Jalie! Softball and volleyball have also been doing well in recent seasons, and have been challenging for conference titles. The Track teams have a brand new facility, the Golf team has, for the first time, a new training facility being built, and there are plans for major improvements planned, including indoor courts, for our Tennis facility. Even a new natatorium is being planned for the Swimming and Diving program. Yes, we are beginning to see that future that you speak of. I contrast this with a school like UTSA, where a message board poster inquired "has UTSA won a single CUSA championship in any sport since they joined the league in 2013?" I couldn't think of one.
  5. They are very good, and they are a legendary program. They were the ultimate giant killers back in 1985 when Ed Pinckney led the regional eight-seed Villanova Wildcats to the NCAA Championship over the heavily favored defending National Champion Georgetown Hoyas led by Patrick Ewing.
  6. The DEATHMOBILE! Nobody knows a damned thing about it until it's unleashed. Purdue was already talking about Baylor because this was all they saw coming down the street.
  7. A couple of things to remember about Villanova: Virginia is the defending National Champions, the year before that, it was Villanova. Since 2013, Villanova basketball has won 10 out of 13 Big East championships (combined regular season and tournament) and 2 NCAA Tournament Championships. Right now, Villanova is the ultimate Blue Blood program in the country. They recruit at an extremely high level, and according to one fan, North Texas doesn't have a single player they would have even looked at. .
  8. Villanova is playing pretty well against Winthrop right now on TNT.
  9. I'm so glad they extended his contract.
  10. Should we rest him?
  11. NORTH !!!
  12. I feel so sorry for SMU. Their team was certainly not prepared for that game.
  13. I keep checking for Texas A&M's Jonathan Aku to show up in the portal. He's a 6-10 260lb F/C that played at iSchool Entrepreneurial Academy ln Lewisville. The former 4* recruit has been buried on the depth chart and only getting a handful of minutes each game. His coach, Buzz Williams, has now signed the higher rated and younger 7-0 Javonte Brown to play the same position.

    NIT

So true, but I'd also like to see Boise make a very short run in another bracket. 🙂 (Boise opens against SMU) .

I don't know of any database. This particular 11x14 photograph is in my own collection, and the negative had been disposed of decades ago by the photographer. The Daily may have archived photographs, but I seriously doubt they've put in that effort, or that they would have anyone that's even aware of what is significant to retain. Rick Yeatts Photography would probably be your best source for archived material but I don't know what year he started covering our teams.

North Texas great Kenneth Lyons shoots over top ranked DePaul's Mark Aguirre and Terry Cummings in the North Texas Super Pit.
  17. At every one of those except the Kibbie game. I brought the bride to a watching party in Denton for that game when we secured our first SBC Championship and first bowl game since the 1959 Sun Bowl. Went home for a few hours, and then returned to Denton to greet the team busses as they arrived from the airport. I didn't make it to the game, but I have a great memento. Our first child was born exactly 9 months after that night.
  18. All true, but he may be able to get a school to pay for a year of grad school.
  19. Tipoff time of 7:25 pm on the North Court Friday night at Lucas Oil Stadium:

Sun Belt Champion Texas State was just snubbed by the NIT. I don't know if it's just because their AD is an AH, but they've been rejected.
  21. I have no knowledge as to the severity of his injury. Is there any chance Rubin will be well for the NCAA Tourney? It would certainly be nice to have him back.
  22. Yes, especially after banging with Lofton only hours earlier. Zach is, and has been since he arrived here, the cornerstone of this team.
  23. No, let's reserve him a spot, but convince him to return next season.
  24. Gawd, I am happy to see that green tower.
