  1. He screwed up and got himself into a bad situation. His best bet now is probably to reboot at a juco and prove himself.
  2. I'd invite him to join as a walk-on. Like any other walk-on, he could then have the opportunity to earn a scholarship by outperforming other players currently on our roster.
  3. It's not ONLY winning, it's also university management. There's very little excuse for a Division 1 school with an enrollment exceeding 40K to not be somewhere between 50 and 75 on this list. 4. We need more gear out here Some people would erroneously argue that it's simply supply and demand. Unfortunately it's impossible to create demand by purchasing the products that are never offered. Much of this responsibility falls on the university employees. And t's just not clothing. Compare the wrist watches and shoes available for North Texas vs the quantity of styles available for smaller schools like La Tech and Utah St. Louisiana Tech accessories and Utah State Watch selection And here's our selection: Maybe our demand really is matched by UNT-Dallas, but I don't believe it's the case.
  5. I love New Mexico. It's a perfect combination of Tatooine and Afghanistan.
  6. I remember Paxton Lynch at Memphis. He set an NCAA record by passing for 7 touchdowns in the first half against SMU in a 63-0 victory. Odd stat is that he only had 9 completions, finishing 9 of 14 for 222 yards when benched.
  7. Pegram pounded right up the middle behind center Clay Bode, but don't forget that Scott Davis rushed for 201 yards himself, mostly cutting to the right side behind All-American Scott Bowles at right tackle. And yes, North Texas won the game 14-7, but also took a knee to run out the clock at the SMU 1 yard line.
  8. Am I the only person who reads those "9 months later..." messages and hears them in his head with a Spongebob narrator voice?
  9. Who on this board would take Benford back as our head coach should Grant fail this season? I would. Benford would have the facilities and the backing at UNT.
  10. I'm serious about that duck pond island being turned into a champions monument pavilion. Don January, arguably one of our greatest golfers and a loyal alumnus that has been incredibly generous with both his time and money, turns 92 in November. How long would we really want to wait?
  11. The link is WaltParkerDrive , it links you to the Blue Lot behind Apogee. Just kidding. I actually just stopped by yesterday to see the new facility. I think it would be nice if the university placed a monument to our 4 Golf National Championships on the 'duck pond' island located directly in front of the new golf facility. Make it a National Champions Park. Four national championships and three second-place finishes during an 8 year period deserves more recognition than it's been getting.
  12. The new "Bruzzy's" Golf Facility is progressing nicely. (Below is photo from today, the other is an architectural rendering) It also appears that they have made a real effort to not encroach too much on the tailgating areas adjacent to the facility. "Over an eight-year period, (1948-1956), the North Texas men's golf team won four national championships and had three second-place finishes". That's quite a legacy on which to build.
  13. Enough ... You had me at "Zach Simmons clone".
  14. I have no idea what somebody would want 198 pairs of used North Texas football pants for, but the whole lot is for sale on Craigslist for $500. https://dallas.craigslist.org/ftw/spo/d/used-nike-adult-football-pants-white/7317480221.html

  15. It was certainly an interesting football movie, but they tried to keep it somewhat based on truth so it ended with more of a moral victory than a Death Star explosion...Good for historic accuracy, but probably bad for box office. I saw it at a sneak preview and sat behind one of the actors that played a game official, wearing his MASONS sweatshirt, and a really old guy that was a fan of the book because he was a child when the 'orphans' came to play his hometown Sandies. I was a little confused by the chronology in the film, as to what season it represented. It seemed to condense Russel's 14 season career at Masonic Home into one 'almost' dream season. It also showed, I believe, one player progressing to NTSTC and two playing after WWII service at North Texas State.
  16. Happy Birthday Drex! We should have an annual Psychedelic Sock Hop to mark the event. We're so grateful for your contributions, especially at times when there were so very few people making efforts to support this athletics program. Fans today generally don't realize how such a small group of people kept North Texas sports alive during it's darkest days. Everything is so much better now; excellent facilities, burgeoning fan support, competitive budgets and salaries, and winning in almost every sport. We will always be thankful to you and others that made this possible. Adler and family
  17. He's listed as a strong safety, graduated, and he has two seasons of eligibility remaining. Sean-Thomas is second from right.
  18. Too many Americans are either too young or too infatuated in progressing their own special interest groups to be able to remember the wonderful world of stagflation. Now the government is borrowing and spending trillions of dollars to cover up any symptoms of a self inflicted recession. What happens when the United States is supposed to start paying back the loans? This will be the new and improved National Malaise. We're already starting to see it.
  19. Beau's grandfather Merle was actually the first person with whom I ever talked about Mean Green football. He ran the AJ Foyt Chevrolet dealership in Houston and had his son Greg's Houston Oilers and North Texas (Flying Worm) helmets on display in his office. Greg had played his Mean Green collegiate career under Hayden Fry and his pro career under Bum Phillips and his proud father was always willing to brag about him and share stories. Merle passed in 2015 after a lengthy career as the Rolls Royce distributor for Houston, but it's great to read his continuing family legacy as his grandson Beau advances in his career.
