    MWC

The SMU fan is correct on this one point. SDSU, Boise St, and probably UNLV will be gone to other conferences before any Texas schools could join the MWC. Boise and SDSU are waiting on the Big XII, and will bolt to AAC with UNLV if Big XII invite doesn't come The state of Hawaii supports football to bolster tourism and the remaining schools will bring nobody. Does anybody think that Hawaii won't be researching independence? They almost have to. Although some of the lower MWC schools that will remain have had moments of success they are about to get their budgets decimated. Their futures look quite bleak. Without a large eastern MWC division our best bet would be to avoid the MWC and let them deal with the Montana schools, the Dakota schools, and NMSU. .
  2. PODCAST: What Does The Future Of The Mountain West Look Like? Per Mountain West Wire: "CSU and AFA aren't leaving for money. They expect the MWC will die when Boise and SDSU leave within the next few years." Listen to the Podcast towards the bottom of the page titled What will the Mountain West look like in the next five years? Should we rush to join? https://mwwire.com/2021/09/29/podcast-what-does-the-future-of-the-mountain-west-look-like/amp/?__twitter_impression=true
  3. Win. That's the strategy. I wonder why no school has ever thought of that? Sorry Monkeypox, I'm not trying to bust chops on anyone, but many on this board need to memorize a simple truth... WINNING IS A GOAL, NOT A STRATEGY What we need to be concerned with is what it takes to win, scheduling to win, hiring to win, recruiting to win, building facilities to win, bringing enough fan support to win, properly promoting our brand, and preparing for future opportunities. We're good with some of those things, and horrible with others. Fix them and winning happens, it's a culture paradigm. Good enough to get by is not good enough to become better. It's why 5 years from now Alabama will be a good program and Kansas will be a bad one.
  4. You're right, maybe I'm wildly oblivious. But then again... https://www.deseret.com/2021/9/28/22698868/reports-2-schools-close-to-leaving-mwc-for-aac-boise-state-waiting-and-hoping-for-big-12-invite https://nevadasportsnet.com/news/reporters/report-colorado-state-air-force-poised-to-leave-mountain-west-for-aac https://www.si.com/college/2021/09/28/colorado-state-air-force-college-football-aac-expansion https://thespun.com/aac/aac-reportedly-eyeing-2-schools-for-expansion-colorado-state-air-force https://www.heartlandcollegesports.com/2021/09/28/air-force-colorado-state-close-to-joining-aac-report/ https://www.coloradoan.com/story/sports/csu/football/2021/09/28/colorado-state-may-join-aac-leave-mountain-west-national-reports/5903065001/ And, why wouldn't SDSU and Boise State be interested? Maybe the obvious?
  5. Once again, go re-read the post. The assumption that UTEP and NMSU would be the most logical acquisitions was only on the quote from their message board. It's easy to deduct since those are the only two available FBS schools left in the Mountain and Pacific Zones. As clearly stated, I was working with what they expressed as "common knowledge" in their forum regarding future defections of Colorado State, Air Force, Boise St, and San Diego St. The AAC has informally extended invitations to Colorado State, Air Force, Boise St, and San Diego St. Only Air Force and Colorado State have expressed interest. Why? Because SDSU and Boise are on the target list for an extended Big XII once Texas and Oklahoma leave. Of course they're not going to commit to the AAC in the interim if they have a commitment to move elsewhere. The only contention I had was that Mean Green fans are more inclined to have interest in North Texas playing schools that that are familiar. I would like to join with only SEC schools but last I checked that wasn't really an option. After the P5 conferences, our next options would be regional mid-majors or distant mid-majors. It's painfully obvious that, regardless of opponent quality, North Texas fans have very little interest in distant mid-majors, and this includes almost all of CUSA-East, the MAC, any Sun Belt school not named Texas St, Arkansas St, or Louisiana and several AAC-East schools. Is there really anything incorrect with these assessments? "Well yes, that is my contention"
  6. Or, as the President of the C-USA Board of Directors he will compelled to show loyalty to CUSA under any circumstances, regardless of if an opportunity for North Texas to move to another conference arises.
  7. The above post is from the MW message board. If correct, the MWC, will be robbed of several of it's marquee teams. Not a horrible conference but certainly geographically challenging for a Dallas area school. We would realistically need five central time zone schools to move with us to make it a really good 16 member conference with two eight team divisions. West: Nevada, UNLV, SJSU, Fresno St, Hawaii, Wyoming, Utah St, New Mexico, East: Southern Miss, La Tech, Arkansas St, Louisiana, North Texas, UTSA, NMSU, UTEP All are among the largest schools from each of their individual states. Short of something like this there is no way we should be interested. Let the MWC sit at 10 with UTEP and NMSU.
  8. Go re-read the post. It doesn't say a thing about visiting fans.
  9. CUSA-West with our two best rivals from the Sun Bel (Louisiana and Arkansas St) added, not bad at all. Seriously DeepG, which of these schools do you not like playing? Which are we above playing with? La Tech, Rice, UTSA, UTEP, Louisiana, Arkansas St, Southern Miss and possibly Texas St, MTSU and WKU (UTEP may depart for a depleted MWC along with NMSU) Add in annual non-conference games with SMU, one FCS, and one P5 and we've got a pretty good schedule. .
  10. But wait Wag Tag, we want national media money even though we are not a national media draw. It's like pennies from Heaven! We can't rely on media money. We need to do everything we can (this is where the idiots say 'just win') to fill our stadium and build our fanbase. Our strength is in our numbers but we have done a very poor job filling our venues. People attend during better seasons but the events are not enough of a draw to entice people to attend during less successful seasons. Get the fan following strong enough and consistent winning will follow. It doesn't happen the other way around. Winning is a goal, not a strategy.
  11. No guarantee any of those four schools leave the MWC Please come revisit this post in the near future.
  12. So, what are we really looking at? SDSU, Boise St, and possibly UNLV are leaving the MWC to go to the Big XII Memphis and possibly South Florida are leaving the AAC to go to the Big XII Colorado State and Air Force are leaving the MWC to go to the AAC UAB and possibly Rice are leaving CUSA to go to the AAC ... and Marshall, ODU, and Charlotte are again researching to leave CUSA and go somewhere else UTEP and NMSU may join New Mexico in the depleted Mountain West We're reasonably unaffected We are left in a relatively unchanged but still very good CUSA West. See if Louisiana, Arkansas St, and possibly Texas St would like to join. Play ball.
  13. So, we either need to move all the small market incredibly distant western schools closer, or fire Judy. Which seems more feasible?
  14. That money is not reduced, IT"S GONE if SDSU, Boise St, Colorado St, and Air Force leave. You're trying to climb on the Arizona while the horizontal flight bomber is racing towards it.
  15. The MWC loses SDSU and Boise State to the Big XII and Colorado State and Air Force to the AAC. What's left? New Mexico, Wyoming, Fresno, and a bunch of crap that we don't want on our schedule. No thanks. No f'n way would we be stupid enough to join that sinking ship. Maybe invite UNM to join UTEP in CUSA, but that's it.
  16. The Seth Littrell Radio Show is back! Join Dave Barnett and Hank Dickenson every week, live from Rudy's BBQ in Denton with head North Texas football coach Seth Littrell and special weekly guests. Be there NEXT MONDAY if you have questions for Seth or Wren.
  17. They didn't look bad. They were a nice hodgepodge of current frosted ornament helmets and solid green pants paired with the "1967" throwback away jerseys. At least the colors somewhat matched, and were a hell of a lot better than any of our dingy gray or black costumes. Why do we even have 1967 throwback road uniforms? Do we really expect fans of our road opponents to get all sentimental over a non-bowl North Texas team from 54 years ago? That is all.
  18. Is the MWC Better for UNT? No, not without several members of CUSA West going with us to form a MWC eastern division. Even then, it may not be beneficial because only the dregs of the MWC, including schools that we should never want to partner with (Utah St, Hawaii, San Jose St) may be left.

    MWC

Any thoughts of moving to the Mountain West must wait until we know if the Big 12 will further expand with SDSU, Boise, and Colorado State and if any MWC schools are defecting to the AAC. Otherwise we could wind up in a depleted kiddie pool from hell with whoever they can convince to leave the Big Sky Conference. Future Mountain West Conference?
  20. Wow, and at least one anti-American on here even defends the democrats reprehensible behavior. Probably some fan of Colin "The Original Karen" Kaepernick.
  21. And, after five years, millions in taxpayer money, fooling tens of millions of weak minded liberals, IT WAS ALL A LIE. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-58591969
  22. No Brett, UNT's poor performance in loss to UAB answers serious questions about where the Mean Green are as a program.
