Would that affect us, and how would it? Assuming they still start the season hosting a FCS team, will they ever play their only remaining non-conference game on the road vs a G-5 school? .

That's from happier times when the department staff wore green and white. Those times are long gone and, other than a few, the staff has gone full mandyhag with the grays and black.

I hope that UTSA finds the money to retain Traylor's services, and I also would like to see Sonny stay at SMU. The ability to retain good coaches will help our American Conference grow in stature. We want to beat those schools at their best. That's our challenge, not to just beat them when they become miserable again.

Full Size (68") reversible NORTH TEXAS knit scarf. (the upper photo is the accurate color) Thank You to Wren and Athletic Department -
Yes, this week's hodgepodge is white 1967 jerseys with a diving eagle glued on the neckline, paired with generic black pants and an undesirable black helmet. It's not gaudy ugly, it just looks poor.

Hopefully it's just a classy way of equipment people admitting that they are in over their heads and subtly tendering their resignations. Possibly they can gain employment at schools that they actually care about, and maybe those colleges will give them carte blanche to jack around ad nauseum. I really don't care, as long as its not here.

You've just shown me a coach that can fight through adversity, and you didn't even mention that his starting quarterback this year was lost for the season prior to their recent Syracuse game. Fuente is looking better with every article and post I read about him. Funny thing is that there's no way in Hades that we'd have a shot at hiring him if all that crap didn't happen. That is, if there is a coaching change at North Texas.

Yeah, and they could call us thee Emerald Tide.

Incredible show guys. I am amazed at how strait forward and open Wren is concerning scheduling, conference realignment, financing, and facility plans. There was a time when Rick V used to have to keep his cards so close to his chest, mostly because of our then shoestring budget. Times are so much better now, and it's almost impossible not to have total faith in Wren. Now...if he'll just start having our teams play in Green and White using our current logos.

Sadly, I don't have a problem with that unless it's just to fudge the tickets distributed number. A schools best salesmen are the people who care enough to purchase season tickets. If their friends and family can go and have a great time they are more likely to return as ticket purchasers. This is so much smarter than giving tickets to youth groups, scouts, and orphans where you're just paying children to occupy seats and there is no return on the investment.

Yeah, that 15 - 27 record at Abilene Christian would be a little hard to sell.

He also has close connections with some of our boosters, our AD, and like Patterson, could be a long term plan. He's only 45 years old, which I think is still kinda young to handle that kind of pressure, but he's already been through the wringer, has elevated multiple teams to ranked status, but has also seen his ranked team collapse this season after his quarterback suffered a separated shoulder against Notre Dame. Would those Texas connections be enough to offset his youth? He seems to have most everything else we could be looking for.

Looks like Fuente is now available after VT ranking as high as #15 earlier this season . He did do an amazing job building Memphis. Could he do the same at North Texas? /

If Seth McCarneys Himself, It’s His Own Fault

The rules have changed. The Pioneer Kid can get playing time in the last four games and still maintain his redshirt. Now, he loses a year of eligibility if he steps on the field for a fifth game. -
It would be so cool if we had an active Denton alumni chapter.

I watched Thursday night's game and found it comical that conference mate SMU reported the attendance at over 22,000. North Texas should do something similar using the same ratios and report a game attendance at something like 500,000

Thanks. I actually laughed out loud. That my be an even better personification of the Todd Dodge era/error when he pissed away his golden opportunity as his main focus changed to become "Under Armour Boy!"

* first please note that Napier is already paid more than Seth. I think Billy may be both LSU's top target and it's his dream job. It may be possible to bring him to North Texas so start digging through your sofa because it's gonna take quite a bit of pocket change.

Yet he accepted the XFL job with the Dallas Renegades last year because he likes the area. At his level he is clearly above being money-whipped like other candidates. North Texas needs to make a statement hire as much as it needs to make an incredibly good football hire. Stoops may be expensive, maybe damned expensive, but that hire could launch North Texas into sports relevance. To quote Dr Norval Pohl, "Athletics is the window through which most of the world views a university." For a 45K enrollment school with a $1.5 Billion budget, the difference between paying $2 Million a year for a probably capable coach, and $4 Million for one that's instantly going to elevate the program instantly going to sell out the stadium, that cost difference is negligible. It would sure be nice to say that we are expanding Apogee to 50-60K because of ticket demand. North Texas has been blessed, incredibly blessed, to have had some extremely generous benefactors that have made enormous financial commitments. Everybody wants to be associated with a winner, and few programs nationally have been starved for a consistent winner the way North Texas has, and only a small percentage of other alumni have become emotionally attached. This move could change all that and be the incentive that would start getting other people to contribute. What other move would quickly energize the North Texas alumni base? What cost is that worth?
-
Well, he's only 61 and he did take an XFL Dallas Renegades job in 2019-2020. He may be ready to get back onto the college sidelines. That may be the home run hire statement we need. And yes, possibly retain Seth as Associate Head Coach/ Offensive Coordinator with a lot of head coaching responsibilities.

At the risk of supporting a "gateway sport", our former soccer field would make an excellent lacrosse facility. And please don't banish me from Fansville for saying it, but the sport can be fun for spectators.
