Colin Powell placed truth higher than politics. I was with a group of people talking with Secretary Powell the very moment that the OJ verdict was announced. He didn't say anything, just gritted his teeth and slowly shook his head sided to side, obviously disappointed by the victory for racism. Much to my chagrin he never ran for President. He was disliked by the extremes on both the left and on the right, but I believed would have done an excellent job representing the moderate people from both parties. RIP General, You left an excellent legacy.

Downtown Denton is a gem and I love the idea to make the whole Square area restaurants and tourist type shops, and reroute traffic around it. After visiting Wrigley Field in Chicago, and several of the smaller "urban ballparks" like the Brickyard in Oklahoma City and AutoZone Park in Memphis, it became apparent that Denton could benefit from a downtown ballpark as it becomes more of a "name city" in the Metroplex and not just urban sprawl bedroom communities. I believe it's time for Denton County to finally step up and build something for the public. They have a built in partner in the University of North Texas and the facility could be used for big high school rivalry games as well. Plans would just need to start before North Texas spends it's budget on building an on-campus facility.

Odd coincidence: in Botswana, more specifically their indigenous Setswana language, the word for Eagle is Ntsu.

Very eloquently stated. That's kind of what I was hinting at for all the people that had replied recently that he could never come back to North Texas as an OC.

I wonder if his OC is going with him.

The guaranteed money could mean that they could wind up with their tail over a barrel. I'd rather us offer a very lucrative incentive based contract, something like 1 million a year plus $400K for every win past 5. That's $3.8 million for an undefeated regular season, another $400K for CCG win, and another $400K for a bowl win. Yes, that could be an enormous amount of money by our standards if we were to win a national championship, but I think it is also an acceptable risk. It's North Texas, the surge in ticket sales and alumni donations would easily offset the costs. .

I believe this is how it is set. OU and UT are set to start in the SEC in fall 2025. Houston led the way for the four new Big XII schools to join while Texas and Oklahoma are still in the conference. Theoretically, there would be 14 schools in the Big XII for the 2023 and 2024 seasons. The six AAC additions will move at the same time as the four entering the Big XII. The Big XII may then invite two or more schools, scheduled to join at the same time OU and UT actually depart. The Big XII may also stay at twelve but I doubt they will. If the Big XII does take these additional schools it will likely be for the 2025 season. The AAC and MWC will then try to backfill for 2025 accordingly depending on how many are to be lost from each conference. That's when we get La Tech back.

I feel bad for our new conference mate. Well, at least we won down there today. I guess the Dallas teams vs Houston Teams ended in a tie.

That may be the case. A player can participate in four games and still have a red-shirt season. You don't really want to play him earlier than next week because, if he earns the starting nod, he'd have to burn a year of eligibility to play in the season's last game. Hopefully Seth will be able to start getting playing time this week for some of these players. I know there's a lot of fans that would love to see Pioneer Kid and K-Mart get some snaps. .

Would that affect us, and how would it? Assuming they still start the season hosting a FCS team, will they ever play their only remaining non-conference game on the road vs a G-5 school? .

That's from happier times when the department staff wore green and white. Those times are long gone and, other than a few, the staff has gone full mandyhag with the grays and black.

I hope that UTSA finds the money to retain Traylor's services, and I also would like to see Sonny stay at SMU. The ability to retain good coaches will help our American Conference grow in stature. We want to beat those schools at their best. That's our challenge, not to just beat them when they become miserable again.
