  1. Sadly, I doubt the rain will affect attendance.
  2. Absolutely not comparable. They're a small school with an enrollment of 20,286 in rural Nowhere, Washington. North Texas is more than twice the size and in the metroplex, and we should certainly strive to outperform schools like that with attendance. WSU only holds on because of conference affiliations and the associated paycheck. Without those, they're Big Sky material. With the move to the American it's time for a giant leap forward for North Texas, and that begins with football. We need to be a natural choice to host P5 (Big XII) level schools. .
  3. But isn't La Tech rekindling it's conference rivalries with it's old Southland foes? Kernals, Beerkats and Jacks? ***Just funnin' with ya Tech fans. You're only gonna be in that crap for one season. Just keep that collar above the muck and there will be a big talon comin' down to rescue you.***
  4. All is well as long as it doesn't inhibit the ability to eventually expand Apogee seating to 50,000. We don't need it yet, but we will. It'll raise North Texas to Big XII capacity levels and create some separation from the Southland/Sunbelt/CUSA schools. The mega-universities are all expanding to the 100,000 seat capacity level and anything under 50,000 is considered kiddy pool.
  5. I think it will take six victories to qualify for a bowl game this year.
  6. Speaking of Ancient Relics of Fouts... The epitome of representing Mean Green Spirit and Pride... For decades there was a huge Green Eagle displayed on the side of Fouts facing Interstate 35. It is long, long gone, but ............................................... the head still exists... amongst my North Texas collectibles.
  7. True. Judging quarterbacks without all the information is something some fans just shouldn't do.
  8. My mama always told me not to judge a quarterback throwing on a timing route until I had thoroughly investigated where his receiver was supposed to be. Substitutes and backups are more prone to route mistakes. With all the injuries, dismissed starter, and position juggling early this season, these talented but inexperienced young receivers have certainly been missing their marks. When you hear "Damn it, he threw it right to the other team!", that is usually what has transpired. Now, if we still had all our original starters, including Darden and Bussey who still had eligibility remaining, things may be quite different.
  9. The Murphy Twins are our version of the Hanson Brothers. (Not the MMMBop ones, the Om! Bop! ones) Maybe not always the most disciplined play, but they are going to knock someone around.
  10. What's amazing about Fouts is that the structure in 2009 looked relatively unchanged from when the Spanish Conquistadors discovered it. Although overgrown with vegetation at the time, the indigenous people told legends about its ancient builders, probably the Clovis Peoples prior to the Younger Dryas impact event.
  11. Kansas 57 - Texas 56 Final-Overtime
  12. even not a spectacular season, could be a spectacular celebration. Win six and that's probably where we go. Let's secure it and make it a GreenOut!
  13. That's why it was deleted. ESPN said "End Of Fourth". I updated several times because that sounded weird, and looking for "Final". Finally ESPN showed 14:50 in fourth.
  14. Muchos Garcias.
  15. Pics or it didn't happen. I got no swag as I'm slummin' it tonight with relatives at the LSU - ULM game. (And looking for Benedict Brune)
  16. I thought the '67 throwback costume jerseys looked OK, but the numbers don't look as bright as the outlined ones on our actual uniforms (that's what those accent colors are for) Why not as Home AND Away uniform? LSU plays their home games in white. Dallas Cowboys play their home games in white... Why not us? It just looks better against a green football field. It's supposed to feel cooler, but I really don't know how much difference it makes. Perhaps some former players can enlighten us.
  17. Oh yes, and good ol Skip Holtz of Tulane.
  18. Many of them were a reach to begin with, found they were over their heads, and are leaving to find some place that they can actually contribute. I can't blame them. I'm grateful they gave it their best shot. Best of luck to them.
  19. Possibly. Some, like Erik, have extenuating circumstances. Many of the others have had recruiters blowing smoke for the past several years: starting positions, NFL aspirations, caviar dreams and champagne wishes at every school, only to find they're 3rd or 4th on the depth chart. It happens everywhere. They can hit the transfer portal, but they better take a case of Dr Pepper with them.
  20. There's a contract, signed in 2020, to keep Willie Fritz at Tulane through 2027. I don't think Tulane can afford to fire him.
  21. Having worked only in the pro ranks, Jeff has little first-hand experience recruiting for colleges, only as a grad assistant. To say he's not knowledgeable would be a fallacy. Jeff's father Randy Rodgers has been for decades the foremost college recruiting expert in Texas through his position at Texas Football Magazine and Jeff has closely followed this process. http://www.randyrodgersrecruiting.com/_s_clients.asp I'd love to see Jeff eventually come home and work with North Texas in some capacity but the lucrative NFL salaries are probably going to keep him occupied for a long while. * For those not familiar, Jeff was a four year letterman linebacker for the Mean Green, and his senior year he intercepted Texas Tech quarterback Rob Peters for a 27 yard pick-six touchdown in North Texas' 1999 21-14 victory over the Red Raiders. North Texas QB Jason Attaway runs for yardage in the victory.
  22. Getting so much resistance from behind It's time we stop. Hey?
