  1. Oh, I don't doubt that the forecast is little more than averages, but it still looks like it will be great Green Sweatshirt weather. People should want to prepare so that they're not getting stuck wearing a "bad luck color" like gray or black.
  2. It was a pretty profound statement Joe. It's like all the people that say the way to get better is to WIN!
  3. Poor SMU has to travel to Boston to play a game in a baseball stadium. It will probably be nasty cold, and the sight lines for attending fans will be horrid.
  4. Never, ever, question the unquestionable beauty of "The Return".
  5. December 23,2021 64°Hi Partly sunny, WindSSW 12 mph, Wind Gusts21 mph, Probability of Precipitation20%, Probability of Thunderstorms0%, Precipitation0.00 in, Cloud Cover26% Go get that new Green Sweatshirt as an early Christmas gift! Weather forecast averages suggest this date should be perfect football weather. .
  6. Theirs is an indoor practice field, the walls look really close around the edges but it's still pretty nice. SMU has a "partial indoor practice field" with a low ceiling, much like many of the local high schools and middle schools. .
  7. It's probably too late to order the Santa Suit, but there are thousands of cheap Bright Green Santa Hats available in stores and online. You've got nearly three weeks, don't be caught not properly dressed for the occasion. The Frisco Classic Bowl Game is going to be a GREENOUT!!! What ideas do you have? Is it time to customize that Grinch Costume? What about Buddy the Elf? Or even this gem for the more casual North Texas Mean Green Football Ugly Christmas All Over Print 3D Hoodie 3D Sweatshirt $45.99 UGLY UNT CHRISTMAS HOODIE "Ugly Christmas Sweaters" on Amazon (click here) What are some of your ideas? Just don't wear this one.
  8. By the current NCAA rules the quarterback is down at the spot where he initiates a slide. It is like making a fair catch signal. He cannot advance the ball further nor decide not to continue the slide. The rule is for his own protection. In this case the officiating crew simply blew the call.
  9. It'd be nice if your title reflected that any hate was coming from Virginia Tech. And even then I would suspect that very few people there actually hate him. When you look at who the played, how well they played, and what they were facing with injuries, It can be argued that Virginia Tech played pretty well this season outside of the upsets to Boston College. Syracuse, and the Pitt game.
  10. Well said. Excellent post.
  11. I have to agree. This kid has played every one of his cards right. Now he just needs to find somewhere where he is guaranteed to remain the starter even if he has a bad game. Patrick Mahomes has been on twitter stating that Ewers has all the tools to play on Sundays. He just needs to go somewhere that he'll be playing immediately. I think the speculation about UT is absurd, the horns recruit top quarterbacks every year but then bench them for a younger guy the next season. This happens every year in Austin, Norman, College Station, Waco, and Lubbock with so many college careers being wasted as the new freshman Wonderboy always replaces the incumbent.
  12. I saw y'all at the UTSA game and your group was having a blast. BTW, we love the party van.
  13. You gave the "I'm done. Nothing about this is redeemable. I'm taking my ball and going home" speech. Believe me, we've all felt that way, but on the board somebody is always going to respond "to not let the door hit ya..." Every day is an airing of grievances on gomeangreen.com Forget it and don't ever let it bother you. Being a North Texas fan is, as our alum Don Henley said "You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave."
  14. The December 21 FRISCO BOWL, or the new As Yet Unnamed Bowl in Texas in Frisco. And where are you getting your information? (please provide link so my Bride will let me go ahead and purchase tickets) .
  15. Congrats to Cincy for an outstanding season and breaking the cartel. If Michigan wins the BIG 10 CC game, it'll be... Michigan vs Georgia and Alabama vs Cincinnati .
  16. The TEXAS BOWL is in Houston. I think you're referring to the Yet to be Named Bowl in Frisco. But, even if it's EMU, I wouldn't mind having the Green Eagles around because their few fans would be very well camouflaged on television and in photographs. .
  17. Sorry, I thought I stated that pretty clearly. That decision belongs to Wren Baker, President Smatresk, and our Board of Regents. This dude will abide.
  18. I don't think you're anywhere near correct in your age statement, and I don't think there are many people that can rival Rick's profound dedication to the program (and not questioning yours either as I appreciate every supporter). Rick is not only a financial booster but has also provided decades of volunteer service to the athletic department, specifically with organizing the annual Don January Golf Tournaments to raise money for athletics. He was even awarded UNT's prestigious 2002 Ulys Knight Spirit Award. Rick has literally made a career out of making other people's lives better: https://aapra.org/About-AAPRA/Member-Biography?Id=81 . Seriously, discard this tiff and introduce yourself to him at one of the games. He's a wonderful person.
  19. I think Seth has done well enough to retain his position as head coach for another year but that decision is really in the hands of Wren Baker and the Board of Regents. Next year, as we approach the end of Littrell's contract, I don't think anybody, Wren, our regents, our fans, our team, and even Seth himself, will be satisfied enough with a six win season to extend the contract. So, be happy. You're in a Win - Win situation. Your team either starts winning consistently or you get a new coach. I know we're all hoping for the best but can also understand if changes will then need to be made. Until then, enjoy the hell out of this bowl season that the team and the coaches have provided.
  20. True, this thing is gonna be a 'Sea of Green' and sell out quickly. The tickets are going to be purchased by parents as Christmas gifts as soon as the event date is set.
  21. "Man, I thought we'd be going to the Perfect Bowl, playing a legendary team in front of a hundred thousand fans at one of the world's most famous stadiums." OK you whiners, buck up. We barely earned a bowl bid and this is what we get, and it's still pretty damn good. We can bitch, whine, and mope, or we can make the most of it and have a great time. I personally, will be there to celebrate with my friends and cheer like hell for the school I love. North Texas fans show up in force for bowl games, especially local ones. I will not be alone. .
  22. No, we are one of the only schools that could make this successful because of our location and our resources. We were on the cusp of receiving the UTSA treatment and being told NO BOWL FOR YOU! Were you really anxious to attend the Frisco Bowl because of it's prestigious name? Would it matter if we went to the same venue and it was called the Lone Star Bowl or something similar? This is all good, and it will probably put Wren in charge of a great bit of it's organization. We can make his a fandango customized to our wants.
  23. So true. We have limped into our last three bowl games only to play three historically lesser known schools that were fielding their best teams ever. This game may be exactly what our program needs.
  24. Did the first half of our season earn something better? What is our entitlement? Seriously, let's make the most out of the hand we're dealt. It's only two days before bowl invitations go out and a new bowl is in the creation phase? That's Crazy. We CAN make this happen, and we CAN make it a success.
  25. EMU might bring 1k people - Good, and they'll be wearing green They'd get completely annihilated by us - Good (if ECU cooperates), we could use a bowl victory This bowl is not some reward for an outstanding season, it's an opportunity to finish righting the ship, improving perceptions, and building momentum for future seasons. We'll need to make it a celebration. There are few aspects of this bowl season that we are truly in charge of. We need to make the most of every opportunity.
