  1. Would somebody with information please explain what happened. Thank you. I'll hang up and listen.
  2. Well yeah CMJ, I TRIPLE-dog-dare ya! (Adler created a slight breach of etiquette by skipping the triple dare and going right for the throat!)
  3. This same situation was battled at UT when it became a publicity black eye. It continued until Coach Mack Brown requested them to stop by saying "we don't freestyle with our traditions. That would be like letting some ugly bitch add another color to our official school colors". OK, maybe I embellished the quote a tad, but that's how they got the students to stop.
  4. Yes, they started out as Moody Maniacs then decided to change to something similar. Moody Little Bitches was the obvious choice but it was just too spot-on. Eventually they settled for Mustang Maniacs, an attempt to pay homage to the death penalty era Mustangmania.
  5. This upcoming season will be the 75th anniversary of our Salad Bowl game against Nevada. Maybe, just maybe, the Athletic Department will make a little bigger deal of this than they did the 1946 Optimist Bowl 75th.
  6. Here is the link to Rick Yeatts Photography. There are hundreds of professional photographs to peruse from the La Tech game and post-game celebration: RICK YEATTS PHOTOGRAPHY Additionally these quality photographs are for sale if you'd like your own copies.

  8. I know I am always the quiet and unopinionated guy here, but, I need to pipe in on this current Pit Crew/Maniacs name debate. It's common knowledge that I view the world through a Green filter, and I can already hear y'all pleading "yes Adler, please share your wisdom". Well, here it is. The Maniacs name is already taken, has been established for years, and it's something that I don't want our student section to be compared to or associated with: MANIACS (WARNING: LINKED MATERIAL MAY BE DISTURBING) Sorry, ok, try not to pluck out your eyes after viewing that ugliness. It's a little late to change for this season, well, way too late, but please revert to the name PIT CREW in future seasons. It's unique, it's catchy, and it's ours. PIT CREW! Informal Poll: Please use or below to indicate whether you agree or not.

  10. With Great Power comes Great Responsibility. The North Texas Student Section is starting to garner some national attention. Way to go Pit Crew/Maniacs! .
  11. I think a lot of our fans were impressed and wished they'd been going to games all season.
  12. Well said. That subject even deserves it's own thread.
  13. Thanks for the good news.
  14. The incredible success of this season has been a shock and wonderful surprise. I will continue to enthusiastically follow and support this team no matter where they wind up playing.
  15. Rick is a workaholic, and he loves this university and it's student athletes. I too am very grateful he stays so involved. And for those of you that are curious, I don't know David, but I do know some of the things he does for our school.
  16. That is so cool G. Thank you for attending.
  17. Kudos to SportDawg on the La Tech board. Here are the CUSA brackets based upon today's records. Seedings can obviously change. This would be good but I'd prefer La Tech somehow be in the other bracket. I will leave it to some of you to asses how the final two games for each team could affect these tournament seedings. Please post remaining game predictions and forecasts of how it could affect North Texas in the tournament.
  18. I seriously doubt architects or engineers will consult me for advice, but that Nevada stage is an acre, while a 1200 graduating class would require only 60 seats wide by 20 seats deep. With modern video boards, they too could watch stage proceedings. That size stage would probably be ideal for Broadway style performances as well as utilized for major concerts. Heck, the whole Green Brigade could assemble on that stage. Now I'm getting out my ruler to figure square footage.
  19. With graduations being a major design factor, a stage with 60 seats wide and 20 seats deep should be no real challenge. Add in all the current huge video boards to display to 10,000 seats and it would be a perfect component to add to this "Heart of Denton County". It would be hard to deny that the I-35 split at Apogee, with it's access to Universities, hospitals, and our regional airport is the heart of this county. We need a centralized venue that can host graduations for the myriad of schools attended by the taxpayers of this county, a facility that can host events that would be an economic boon to the city and county. If you question this, please look at Jefferson County, Alabama, half the population of Denton County and a quarter of the tax revenue. They built a new stadium for UAB and an enormous convention center/performance hall to create a revenue generating heart to the city: Denton and UNT should copy that model. https://protectivestadium.com/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birmingham–Jefferson_Convention_Complex We could easily have that, but on a much grander scale. We have one of the world's largest airports 22 miles from campus and one of the most affluent counties in the country. It is certainly not a reach to say this is all feasible within the next twenty years.
  20. A special "Thank You" to David Anderson and his family for their incredible generosity providing the lunch, drinks, and open bar for the Pregame Tailgate, both at this latest basketball game and at the Frisco Classic Bowl game in December. For those of you that aren't familiar, David provided over a thousand meals yesterday and hired all the staffing. He and his people also served over 3000 at the bowl game. All of this was totally free to all fans. David has also been providing tailgating parties for the North Texas Alumni Association for years. Also "Thank You" to our former Athletic Director Rick Villarreal for working the grills and directing the activities. Your hospitality is greatly appreciated. These type of events strongly encourage even the most casual fans to want to get involved. David Anderson (tailgating aficionado) .
  21. Oh Hells No. They're both competitive in the eastern division kiddie pool but... WKU plays close games but loses every single important one and Middle School gets rolled when they step on the court against the Big Three from CUSA West. Essentially the Big Three have to play really poorly to let these two schools be factors. I want to see La Tech and UAB have to battle it out in the other side of the bracket and for us get to run roughshod through those eastern tulips.
  22. Dammit! Now you've gotten me playing with my Mean Green Legos. The university needs to build a grand auditorium, something that can really be used to bolster our performing arts and also host concerts and celebrity speakers as well as seat graduating classes as large as 1200 on it's stage.. We are the "arts & music" school of America, we need it. Build it where the intramural fields (and Cement City) are now. The Super Pit needs to be given to the athletic department to be converted into a perfect sports facility, or as perfect as it can be. Match the entrance door level with a parking garage across the street and cover North Texas Blvd in that area. The entirety of what was Fouts and it's surrounding parking areas should be turned into an immense parking garage, designed to support student parking and shuttle services, as well as Apogee, Super Pit, and the new huge Performing Arts Center. I would love to see I-35 eventually covered in this area, similar to Clyde Warren Park in Dallas. Ideally, we could also build a clone of the Cowboy's Ford Center where the baseball field is currently slated to be built. With interchangeable floors there and in the new IPF, it would instantly propel North Texas as being the logical choice for major basketball, tennis, indoor track, gymnastics, soccer, and even hockey tournaments as well as potentially hosting football games during extremely inclement weather. Integrate the Gateway facility into this plan. It is too new and attractive of a building to be as poorly utilized as it is. These venues in such close proximity would be ideal for hosting conventions, and that brings huge revenue into the community. Hotels would be clamoring to build so close to hospitals, entertainment facilities, sports venues, and convention halls. The university and the city of Denton have changed enormously in the last 30 years, and the growth for both is quickly accelerating. What changes would you like to see made to campus and our surrounding areas? 35 years ago Frisco was a tiny town with a water tower and a 2A high school. Look how it's changed since the Metroplex engulfed it. They planned well and became something other than just another sprawling bedroom community. We too should plan ahead.
  23. Point is, there are several really good schools in our conference that we will be leaving behind, but we have a special rivalry with Louisiana Tech. It may be different if WKU or Marshall were only three hours away, but they're not.
  24. Our biggest crowds in the last several seasons for both football and basketball have when hosting La Tech. (2018 football, and last night for basketball) Our fans enjoy this rivalry and many Tech fans in the metroplex come out to support their teams in Denton. Did anyone else notice the high percentage of Tech fans that stayed after the game and applauded when North Texas was awarded the CUSA Championship Trophy. Pure class. I look forward to Tech soon joining us in the AAC, and I will be cheering for the Dawgs as my second team at the CUSA Tournament in Frisco.
