One basic thing that I'd like our pep band to learn is that during a timeout, ALL BRASS INSTRUMENTS ARE POINTED DIRECTLY AT THE COACH OF THE OTHER TEAM WHILE HE'S MEETING WITH HIS PLAYERS. BLAST HIM! YOU NEVER LET THEM TALK WITH THEIR TEAM UNENCUMBERED!!! Give 'Em Hell Pep Band!!!

I consulted the Book of Nostradamus and he wrote the following in 1554: "The Sky Will Churn, Lightning Will Flash, And The Drez Will Return For TWO More Years To Play In The League Of Three Owls" I'm not sure how that could be possible, but the Nostradamus predictions are seldom wrong.

The two teams wore OSU's school colors Orange and Black as the Cowgirls were able to edge past North Texas in the sixth inning. 4 Oklahoma State 17-5 2 North Texas 14-5 Score By Inning...Runs...Hits...Errors Team 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 R H E Oklahoma State 1 1 0 0 0 2 0 4 11 0 North Texas 0 0 0 0 2 0 0 2 4 1 W: Maxwell, Kelly (7-0) L: Skylar Savage (4-2) DENTON, Texas – Kelly Maxwell improved to 7-0 on the year and the No. 10/9 Oklahoma State softball team extended its winning streak to six with a 4-2 road victory over North Texas on Tuesday. Brianna Evans, Chyenne Factor, Chelsea Alexander and Avery Hobson turned in multi-hit performances to help the Cowgirls improve to 17-5 overall on the year. It was OSU's 12th win in its last 13 games. North Texas fell to 14-5. With the score deadlocked at two after five innings, the game was decided in the sixth when Evans singled home Hobson, who had to narrowly beat a throw at the plate to score. The Cowgirls added an insurance run in the next at-bat when Factor singled home Alexander. Alexander went 2-for-4 at the plate, tallying two runs to go with a stolen base. Hobson went 2-for-2 with a run after entering the game in the sixth inning. "So very happy with the way our kids competed all day here," Head Coach Kenny Gajewski said. "Some great at bats, some clutch hitting by Avery Hobson, Chelsea [Alexander], Bri [Evans] was really good here today, and we ran the bases very well. It also helped immensely that North Texas offended the sports gods by wearing uniforms that weren't their school colors". The Cowgirls scored the first run of the game in the first inning, when a Julia Cottrill infield hit scored Evans. OSU also put a mark on the board in the second inning, when Alexander singled, stole second and eventually scored on a wild pitch. Maxwell struck out seven in securing her fifth complete game victory of the season. She neutralized North Texas' Tayla Evans, who entered the contest batting .385 but did not record a hit in the campaign.

Perry responds to disgruntled UNT fan
ADLER replied to Coach Andy Mac's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I think something may have been bothering him. I have never before noticed him resort to the stationary bike during the game. I'm not pretending that I really know the bike's benefits. Is it just to warm up, or does it alleviate cramping. I don't know, mine at home is only used for hanging shirts. (if that's not obvious enough) -

The Mean Green's Tylor Perry made two of three foul shots to even the score at 57 with two seconds remaining in regulation and send the game to overtime. Texas State let by seven points with 47 seconds left in regulation. Finally somebody else suffered the "Curse of the Black Uniforms". The Mean Green who captured their 25th win of the season on Tuesday breaking a program record, were down seven points with 47 seconds to go in regulation but dug in to send the game to overtime. In the overtime period UNT (25-6) outscored TXST (21-8) 10-6 to capture the victory. "Toughest team wins," said senior Mardrez McBride who scored a career-high 24 points and tied his career-high with six made 3-pointers. "We've been in plenty of these games this season. There's a lot of fight in that locker room. You don't get to 25 wins without a lot of fight and grit." Trailing by two points and with two seconds left in regulation, the Mean Green's Tylor Perry was fouled shooting a 3-pointer. Perry made two of three at the line to send the game into the overtime period. In the overtime period, North Texas was without senior Thomas Bell who is the program's active career leader in points, rebounds and assists as he fouled out in the final seconds of the second period. But McBride and sophomore Rubin Jones stepped up as they combined to go 6-of-6 at the free throw line to seal the victory. Tuesday was the Mean Green's (25-6) fifth straight overtime victory and Grant McCasland is now 8-1 in overtime games as UNT's head coach. Tuesday was the team's first overtime game since their 78-69 overtime victory over Purdue in the first round of the 2021 NCAA Tournament. "There's no way we would have come back and won this game if we were wearing either black or grey. Green and White are our colors, as they will be forever." UNT will play the winner of Mississippi State and Virginia who play Wednesday night. The game will be played either Saturday or Sunday. Stay tuned for updates on opponent and broadcast information.

Jank is an honest and nice person and, like Sonny Dykes, doesn't fit the SMU mold. Jank is an excellent teacher of fundamentals and a very good game coach. What he lacks is the "sleeze factor" in recruiting that SMU fans demand from their coaches. Jank got an extremely raw deal at North Texas. He was winning pretty consistently but our UT grad AD Craig Helwig, intervened, hired UT's top recruiter Vic Trilli, and the rest is history, very sad history.

The "kitty-litter grey" uniforms were used as home uniforms for all the nob-challenging conference games, weren't our colors, and of course looked extremely ugly. You were at the UTEP game. Our off-color uniforms came back to curse the team when it mattered most. Have we ever shot 6 of 18 free throws in the first half before? Has any champions team? Many of those misses were front of 1-and-1's. Make only 3 of those and we're in the Big Dance this week.

I actually had to pick through their older game stories to find a photograph of the softball team wearing any green at all. (a cold February game, look at fans with blankets) The ladies were wearing our school colors for their final game against Southern Miss though, and they looked BEAUTIFUL. MEANGREENSPORTS.COM Mean Green Sweep Southern Miss HATTIESBURG, Miss. – North Texas softball completed the series sweep of Southern Miss with a 5-4 come-from-behind win Sunday at the USM Softball Complex. The Mean Green start conference play with a conference-opening series sweep for the first time since 2017. QUOTING HEAD COACH RODNEY DELONG"It's always tough to sweep on the road. I'm proud of our team in winning three games against a talented Southern Miss team. We have another tough slate of games this week and I'm looking forward to watch our young team continue to grow." RECAPThe scoring started early as Southern Miss (17-8) jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI single. The Mean Green (14-4) responded in the top of the second when Molly Rainey scored after Cierra Simon reached on a fielder's choice to tie it at 1-1. In the bottom of the third, Southern Miss retook the lead on an RBI single up the middle and added another run on an RBI groundout to make the score 3-1. UNT once again countered in the top of the fourth as Kalei Christensen hit an RBI single to right field to bring Cierra Simon home for a run. Two batters later, Kailey Gamble picked up an RBI on a groundout as Lexi Cobb evened the game at 3-3. The Golden Eagles weren't done yet though as Maria Smith homered to left field to give them the 4-3 advantage heading into the seventh inning. The Mean Green then scored two runs in the seventh inning to regain the lead for good as they finished the series sweep over the Golden Eagles. Sydney Ingle brought Emma Grahmann home to even the game at 4-4 before Christensen singled in Ingle for the game winning run.Skylar Savage started and tossed the first three innings before Ashley Peters entered in relief in the fourth inning. Peters (4.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 5 K) picked up her second win of the weekend and her eighth win of the season. Christensen finished the day 3-for-5 at bat and added two RBI, including the game-winning knock in the top of the seventh. Destini Brown once again led the Golden Eagles with a 2-for-3 afternoon at the plate while adding two runs. Jana Lee (5-5) took the loss after coming in to relieve Morgan Leinstock in the fourth inning. She finished with two strikeouts, five hits, and two runs. UP NEXTUNT will host No. 11 Oklahoma State on Tuesday at 6 PM CT at Lovelace Stadium in Denton.
