  1. There were several newer starters or major role players that shocked us with their leadership and incredible athletic abilities, but TBIII set the leadership standard. He's one tenacious son-of-a-gun. I look forward to following him in his professional basketball endeavors, and even more so as he returns to be active in the Letterman's Alumni chapter.
  2. I don't think you guys get it. UNT has a MUCH better chance of hiring SMU's successful coaches than the other way around. We have more fans and a significantly higher(actual) athletic budget. I like Jank, he's a fine coach, but his morality probably does make him a poor fit at SMU. Put Jank at KSU and he'll be in the Sweet 16 every year.
  3. Who was #90 in the late 1990's that wore this jersey?
  4. I love Brett It took him a long time to become one of us, but now he's family.
  5. The TAILGATE PARTY has been moved to GATE A. This is officially a BYOB affair, but we should have extras available for those of you that couldn't locate a beer store on your way to the Super Pit. Please come out and join us. ***NO GLASS CONTAINERS"""
  6. God has given us perfect weather for a Tailgate Party... So, Pack Up the Babies and Grab the Old Ladies, And Everyone Goes, 'Cause Everyone Knows... It's Brother Grant's Show! Hallelujah, ... Hallelujah, Brothers!
  7. The Cougar Douche troll came on our board to brag about UH's victory over CUSA's UAB. He started spontaneously downvoting posts after he noticed he was totally ignored.
  8. Everyone's invited, just bring a suitcase case of Bud or Bud Light (always support our sponsors) for yourself and to share with all your closest Mean Green brethren if you can. (NO GLASS CONTAINERS) If you can't bring beer, join us anyway, we should have plenty to share (21 and over) 2:30 PM on the Super Pit northeast exterior concourse corner by GATE A Let's get together and discuss this supposed basketball "rebuilding year" and how much fun it's been, today's game, and everything else in the Mean Green Sports World. These really are the best of times for North Texas. Every single sport seems to be annually in contention for post-season play. Let's celebrate what we have. GO MEAN GREEN! Get There Early! Wear Green! Be Very Loud!
  9. OK, Spontaneous Impromptu Tailgate Party on the Super Pit exterior Concourse NW Corner at 2:30 PM. OK, everybody bring a case or two of Bud or Bud Light (you guys know I always have to plug our sponsors) and let's get ready for some Mean Green basketball!
  10. Thanks NT80. I've thought about having it repaired with the neck feathers for a man-cave decoration, but it really should be in the athletics collection, or even in a Denton sports bar. I just don't want it ever want it thrown out by people that don't recognize it's significance. This was the image that tens of thousands had of North Texas sports for decades. It's one of the few North Texas collectible I own that wasn't a surprise gift from the Bride.
  11. Yeah, you know I'm always game for any pregame tailgate. Then again, so is just about everybody on this message board. The NIT does not allow beer sales within the even. Maybe we could all bring cases of beer (cans only) to the exterior pavilion outside the Super Pit Gate E.
  12. I love the cartoonist Bill McClanahan's 1948 scrappy eagle. It was the first time that North Texas was included with the "big boys" of college football and the winning teams caused us to quickly outgrow Eagle Stadium on campus where the Willis Library is now located. Here is a desk statuary of the McClanahan Eagle and the iconic 1960's NTSU bobblehead based on it, posted in front of the huge head of the Eagle that adorned Fouts Field stadium for decades.
  13. And this was for a brief moment in 1991: Ugly uniform, but Kathy Ireland made it look good.
  14. I'm not sure our students will be back from Spring Break by game time. We need them at this game.
  15. An idea for you any of you guys that want to contribute a little to the gameday atmosphere... These green noodle things are available for only $1.25 each at the Dollar Tree stores(other dollar stores probably have them as well). They're a showy display of gameday mania, and the kids love them. Please go grab some for your group and get some extra ones to give away to the students. Thank you, and Go Mean Green! Adler Get There Early! Wear Green! Be Very Loud!
  16. If we beat Virginia (a big challenge) and St. Bonaventure also beats Oklahoma (another big challenge), we will host St. Bonaventure at the Super Pit. If this happens, I will gladly match your contribution to the Western Sons tailgate. Anyone else up to this challenge?
  17. Hopefully enough read it to rally the troops. We need them for this game.
  18. This is a very good team that just won the National Championship in 2019. We NEED student support. Get There Early! Wear Green! Be Very Loud!
  19. I am betting that all of you that are blaming Putin are also pretty bad at chess. Putin is nothing but a pawn in this game. China has well over a billion people. China does not have enough wheat to sustain it's population. The United States and Ukraine are the worlds largest producers of wheat. China has full intentions of retaking Taiwan during the weak Biden administration. If China were to invade Taiwan they would be immediately cut off from US wheat and Ukraine wheat. China's only option if they want to take Taiwan is to first ally with Russia to secure the Ukrainian wheat fields. That is exactly what has transpired. That is why China has agreed to buy 100% of Russia's oil.
  20. Don Henley was a featured guest at the Gateway Center on campus as part of Dr Pohl's Alumni Speaker Series. Don talked about his time at North Texas, his time with the Eagles, where the band got it's name, his continuing career, and his current philanthropies namely the Save Caddo Lake Foundation. Don personally met with each guest after dinner for questions and photographs. I think cost was about $25 per person, but it did include a three course meal.
  21. I had dinner with him on campus.
  22. RV has ALWAYS been a great supporter of the program. I would love to see him involved with the athletic department over "game day experience". Wren is incredible with running the business side; hiring, scheduling, budgeting etc but pays very little attention to other gameday experience amenities like tailgating, bands (Beer Man), adherence to school colors, providing pom-poms at events, basketball band, etc. He just doesn't seem to notice the importance of those details. The two of them work together well. We should utilize the talents of each.
  23. True, only $12 for General Admission. And you can go front row by the baseline. It would be hard to match that kind of value for your investment anywhere else. GO!...GO!...GO!...GO!...GO!...GO!...GO!...GO!...GO!...GO!... .
  24. The 2019 National Champions are coming to Our House in a battle where only the victors advance, and you're debating going because of $15 tickets? Having been a North Texas fan for decades, I can tell you these opportunities just haven't come around too often. Embrace the FOMO!
  25. Actually, the color jerseys we wear Sunday determines whether we buy tickets for next week in Norman.
