PAC is negotiating broadcasting rights with AppleTV. Apple TV deal will be adjusted along with defecting legacy PAC schools. Future looks quite bright indeed.

Much like Mattress Mac, Al reached out to the university and was incredibly generous. Both donated quite a bit of money, each over a million, and were committed to future projects: All wanted to sponsor teh return of baseball. Then they encountered a nasty problem. Thankfully that ugly problem moved to SDSU in late 2010 but the damage to relationships with many of our larger donors had already been done.

Well, at least Kentucky knows it's school colors in a big game. Karma sucks.
-
Yes, that looks like crap, does a poor job of representing their university, and SMU should wear them every week.

Adler is surviving (at least trying to) a week of Mardi Gras in New Orleans. Half day to recover, Bacchus Ball tonight. Yes, any other colors being blended with our school colors looks trashy. It should never be allowed to happen. That is also not SMU's better look. I know it's a marketing ploy, but their blue jerseys with S M U above the numbers and red horse logos on the helmet are iconic and immediately recognizable on television. SMU does also have an 'all black' uni and it too signifies nothing and looks just as trashy as ours.

Please review the situation. We won in spite of the obvious. We were playing against a very subpar team who is 9-13 against Division 1 competition and who had an extremely easy OOC schedule, That team was crippled by losing it's best player and leading scorer Coby Williams, as he was removed from the team just a day before, With two minutes left in the 2nd half, La Tech is playing gawd-awful and shooting only 46% from the foul line, The referees have called 8 fouls against North Texas and just 1 against Tech at that point of the game, And "Conference Championship Contender" North Texas was only leading by 4 points. Make this same mistake against competent competition and we can kiss goodbye any chance at the Big Dance or NIT. And for any doubts, please review the same thing in last year's final regular season game at UTEP. We played like we were cursed, lost by a basket, and that one loss kept us from getting an at-large invite to the NCAA Tourney. Nobody should be upset with the win at Tech. We should all be gratful we escaped with a victory in spite of the mistake. .

Shorter has amazing tenacity, especially when he gets close to the goal line. He's tough as iron but he does take a pounding. There are times when I think his fighting for additional yardage leaves him vulnerable to more hits with some of them being injurious. Not meaning to be untrue to my Texas roots, but there may be times when it's beneficial just to step out of bounds.

Would young adults actually be safer if the drinking age for beer was lowered back to 19? Texas raised the drinking age to 19 in 1983 for the expressed reason of keeping alcohol out of high schools. A year later, a national drinking age of 21 was invoked, and any state that opposed it was threatened that they'd lose their National Highway Funds. A group called the National Youth Rights Association is working to get the drinking age lowered in Missouri not only because they view it as form of age discrimination, but also because it could enhance safety for young adults. 19 is the new 21. It's time to consider a lower drinking age. There may be benefits to it. In olden days police would crash parties, make sure everybody is behaving properly, and make partiers turn down the music: and that was even at high schooler's parties. Nowdays, kids are resorting to liquor, or even worse illegal street drugs, because those are easier to conceal, and because the prosecution is just as severe for possession of a beer. Would a brief alcohol awareness course like the one suggested in the article making drinking beer a revokable right be beneficial? Would intoxicated students more readily be brought to medical assistance if there wasn't the threat of legal persecution? Would this help curb the more dangerous opioids problem and chemically enhanced vaping affecting our country's young people? Or, would it make things worse? What are your thoughts and ideas?

Students will go where there's beer, music, and people to meet. What's key for us is how to help them do that safely before, and after our games. I suggest providing well lit designated party areas for the organizations that apply, provide them power for music which is cut during the games, and strictly police those areas to keep thievery and binge drinking from happening during the games. They'll also need power for post-game parties and lighting for when they pick up their tents, tables, and chairs. .
-
Work with student groups to make sure that those Saturday parties are scheduled at the football stadium. Do they require set tailgating/party areas with access to electricity? Is there already sufficient lighting in these areas? Nobody ever meets with them prior to them forming their social calendars. Mixers and formals are scheduled many months in advance, and without any guidance from the university there will be conflicting events.

Crazy. Does anybody on here think it was a good idea? -
New Basketball Arena proposed on Light the Tower Masterplan update
ADLER replied to NT80's topic in Mean Green Basketball
So true, that would be just as STUPID. I guess stupid is as stupid does, and yes, using any colors other than their own school colors would be stupid. Why would any school or it's fan base aim for stupid? Thank you for pointing his out. -
They'll be coming on the signed GOR's, or lack thereof, right along that primrose pathway.
-
That's almost verbatim what the Pac12 presidents have been saying lately concerning their own conference.

New Basketball Arena proposed on Light the Tower Masterplan update

Like many on this board, SJSU thinks that athletics offices and facilities belong where seating should be in the stadium. They have ninnies saying "what's the need to build more desirable sideline seating when the less desirable seating areas are not selling out". And on a sad note, they have already started building. Unfortunately, like at North Texas, people at SJSU think fans will still attend but will happily sit in less desirable seating. Does anybody really think that plan works, or will those fans just stay home? Always follow this Rule #1: NEVER BUILD OTHER ATHLETICS FACILITIES WHERE FAN SEATING BELONGS Rule #2: IN CASE OF DOUBT, REFER BACK TO RULE #1 Rule #2: IN CASE OF FURTHER DOUBT, WATCH WHAT HAPPENS AT SJSU -
***Caution: Long Post, But You Will Be Enlightened*** Figure out what plans will entice people to come, and what will make them want to keep coming back. Never trick or trap your customers into attending. They will quickly detest your existence. No more "Captive Orphans Corner" or "Detained Immigrants Section" suggestions. Attendance will certainly benefit from winning, but it's not the only thing that bolsters attendance. Are we charging too much for tickets? Would reducing the price of admission significantly raise attendance? I really don't know. Are we providing the proper amenities that make customers want to return? If not, what are we missing? Here's an easy one. Are we scheduling to adjust for predictable weather? Are we making sure that students attending late August games aren't staring into the sun for two hours in 100+ degree heat? We already know to the exact minute what time the sun sets for the next 10,000 years. How on Earth could we possibly f*** that up? Are there pregame activities? Should there be more? Our parking situation pretty much dictates that fans and guests get to the stadium early. Should there be more for them to do once they get there? Is there even a place to sit while waiting? Is there entertainment? Why aren't the students offered free food through Dining Services? Thousand of students are skipping their dorm meals while at the game. Why doesn't Dining Services offer free Hot Dog and Soda meals at the games to ALL students? Many will still choose concessions over a hot dog, but that will be their option. Why not have self-serve drink machines for free refills on their concourse like those at a 7/11? Provide tailgate tents for Denton businesses inside the stadium grounds along with a purchased ticket package. Those people are as interested in visiting with each other as they are with watching the game. Scrappy's Kids Club needs to be organized and expanded. Parents want to bring their children to events that they enjoy. We need for there to be little kid cheerleaders, and we need for the little guys to be able to run on the turf before or after the field whether it's an organized activity for free range. Have we reached out to peer institutions? Could our football games at UTSA be included free for students and likewise for them at ours as part of their student ticket package? It wouldn't cost anything, it would raise attendance, it would help build the rivalry, and it would bring in additional parking and concessions revenue. Have we advertised "football weekends" for season ticket holders of visiting AAC teams? Something that has specials at local hotels, their team hotel, and Denton restaurants. The City of Denton will really LOVE the Mean Green if they are seeing a significant increase in tourism revenue. Do we provide hospitality tents to these guests? Have we straightened out our parking issues? Will lot requirements be posted prior to cars getting in line, and will there be more than one line to get cars into each lot? Have we figured a way to enclose the Alumni Pavilion so that it can be outside the stadium for pregame but included inside the stadium as a "beer garden atmosphere"? Have we planned post-game activities/radio shows/ podcasts here, or is this building just a dark locked up empty facility being wasted during it's most important hours? Have we appealed to the campus police to Protect and to Serve? They view the games as a findfall for issuing MIP's which is clearly in violation of the intent of that law. In 1986 the drinking age was raised to keep alcohol out of high schools and that purpose is not required on a college campus. Please Protect and Serve by guarding all the valuable tailgating items left in the dark parking lots and on the Highland Park Hill. Elements of the Denia residents descend like Jawas every game night to pilfer for valuables and beer. Whatever happened to the pregame and postgame concerts idea? There should be concerts aimed directly at the demographic that buys the overwhelming majority of our tickets. Send season ticket holders a matching set of tickets for these games. These events will be able to entice them to bring friends and our loyal customers are our best salespeople. And there are hundreds of other things that could be listed. Like I said earlier, figure out what plans will entice people to come, what things will enhance their experience, try to eliminate things that will cause a bad experience, and try to find what will make them want to come back. It's not a fix as things are constantly changing. It's a Continuous Improvement process.

North Texas Softball - Built to win trophies!!!!
ADLER replied to El Paso Eagle's topic in Mean Green Athletics
OK, all "blah-blah-blah" aside, would it not have been better to have worn our school colors every day? You cannot see a single thing that indicates that's North Texas on the field with those single angle cameras. -
All Eyes On North Texas The D1 Softball Ranking Page Has Been Updated It's sure nice seeing #16 Texas, #22 North Texas, and #25 Texas A&M being the only ranked schools in our state.
