  1. After decades, The PAC died Friday, March 4, at 2:00PM The average $22 million per school is going to keep 8 of the 10 teams from signing the GOR. Oregon and Washington were demanding a disproportionate share and there was no way the other current members would agree. Washington, Oregon, Stanford, and California will be heading to the BIG 10. Arizona, Arizona State, Utah, and Colorado will be heading to the Big 12. On July 31, 2024 the PAC will officially cease to be a recognized NCAA conference. They will not have retained the "minimum 5 schools together for 3 years" to be eligible for auto qualifying for any NCAA championships. All PAC finances will be divided amongst the schools that originally earned them, including USC and UCLA.
  2. Thank you, and your cohorts, for the open invitation for all of us to participate freely and often on the PonyFans.com site.
  3. Can anybody name a county of a million or more anywhere in the United States that has not built an athletic facility for it's residents? Probably none other than Denton (I didn't find one). This is especially egregious considering that county's largest employer is the 28th largest university in the United States with all of it's students paying taxes. It's past time for the City of Denton and Denton County to step up.
  4. MeanGreenSports.com After tying for second place and obliterating her own program record for low 54-hole score, UNT graduate student Audrey Tan was named the Conference USA Golfer of the Week. The nod for Tan marks the ninth conference weekly award for North Texas in the last ten weeks the team has played, dating back to last season. It's the sixth for Tan in that stretch and the ninth of her decorated career.
  5. Nobody's signing that Grant Of Rights, and eight of the current ten PAC schools already have secured their plans to leave. They'll all be announcing their departures as soon as the GOR is declined. When all's done, the Mountain West will likely provide a home to PAC orphans Oregon State and Washington State, as well as tagalongs SDSU and SMU. Here's the Monty Show, a mouthpiece for Utah Utes fanatics.
  6. Wow, another great win for the Mean Green. Way To Go Ladies! (and coaches) I also wanted to say how nice it is that the whole softball team comes over to the stands at the culmination of each game, does their NORTH-TEXAS! NORTH-TEXAS! NORTH-TEXAS! cheer, sings our alma mater, and thanks the fans that come out to support them. They're very classy, and they represent the university so well.
  7. Wow! There are a lot of collegiate golf powers that our Mean Green beat in that tournament. USC, Oklahoma State, and Tulsa have all won NCAA Championships and they all take competition in this sport incredibly seriously. Donning their GREEN and WHITE, North Texas Women's Golf had one of their greatest tournaments ever. Way To Go MEAN GREEN! Absolutely Amazing!
  8. You guys did read "Free Beer and Food", didn't you?
  9. It's a fun place. I just recently discovered that a lot of fans have been going to the EastSide Beer Garden after just about every game. You really cant find anything cheaper than $3 beers anywhere else, and the atmosphere is a blast. They actually have a very wide selection of (over 80) beers from which to choose, and over 130 types of Bourbon/Whiskey.
  10. East Side is throwing a special event in their Beer Garden immediately after the UNT - WKU game to celebrate the Mean Green's most basketball wins in school history. Please come out and have a beer with other North Texas Basketball fans as we celebrate the team's success! 12. Looks like the Mountain West may soon be adding Oregon State, Washington State, SMU, and getting SDSU back.
  13. I doubt SMU will wind up in the WAC. It's more probable that they will end up in the Mountain West, but I guess the WAC may be possible, especially if they need to cancel football.
  14. SMU may wind up cancelling football alltogether if this Pac 12 deal doesn't work out for them. Very sad.
  15. All that, and he's a an incredibly nice guy. I'm proud to know Robb and am happy for all of his accomplishments. Brett, thank you for writing this story.
  16. Thank you for the illustrations on how to correctly build end zone facilities. I know an academic facility is important, but like a washer and dryer, you don't need to put it on the front porch to show you have one. Put the Academic Center where it belongs, and then put stadium seating where it belongs.
  17. I believe there are more urgent requirements than hiring a baseball coach. And I think that I am the only person that doesn't think that North Texas should be building a baseball stadium. It's time for the City of Denton and Denton County to step up and build SOME amenity designed to enhance the lives of North Texas students as well as the city/county residents. The University of North Texas is by far the community's largest economic driver and the students are a huge part of the city's tax base, yet the City of Denton and Denton County have never built a single ammenity for the school. In fact, all city parks and recreational venues are intentionally placed at a significat distance from the university so that students are not the primary users. Denton is the seventh most populous county in the state of Texas, and the ONLY top ten county that has not built a minor league calibre baseball stadium. Even the economically depressed City of Edinburg and Hidalgo County were able to build an expandable 4500 seat stadium which they ceded control of to UTRGV. It's way past due for Denton and Denton County to make a similar investment to their intentionally underserved taxpayers. UTRGV Stadium A North Texas Baseball Team will certainly be fasttracked incredibly quickly whenever a stadium project is launched. The stadium would not need to be on campus but at least somewhere in the proximity or close to the square.
  18. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!! Please Dear Football Gods, NO! ... Do something that adds to our stadium, not just enhancing the office amenities. This location is WAY TOO VALUABLE real estate to waste by desecrating it with this limited vision project. This design is so SJSU. Find some other place to build this unsightly shed and it's 50 seats. It looks like pre-fab housing. The principle reminds me of when you'd see shacks with washers and dryer sets placed on the front porch. "It may be unsightly as hell, but we too have got one". Why not something like Tech's revised endzone football facility which is also designed to fit between their stadium and their athletics facility? Theirs is designed to be an integral part of their stadium unlike our proposed abomination. (We can do better, much, much better)

  20. Oh, we wear Green and nearly win by double digits. Wow, what a turnaround. OK, what about our men? They are one of the best road teams in the country, having only lost a single conference road game at FAU, and that was because we were stupid enough to wear black for that game. We played at Charlotte tonight, and that's a team we absolutely toyed with 67-43 earlier this month when we were wearing Green and White. What was the result in tonight's men's game?
  21. A bunch of us on Gomeangreen.com pitched in to rent a searchlight for a game many years ago. Multiple Skytrackers, one placed on all four sides of the Pit would really light up the facility and make EVERYONE aware that that a major event was taking place.
  22. I'm sorry if the wisdom of learned experience confuses you. Place one of these on each side of the Super Pit and that illuminated brick building will be noticable all over campus, the interstate, and the entire city of Denton.
  23. What happened in the North Texas women's game tonight? Charlotte absolutely destroyed us in humiliating fashion earlier this season when our women for some reason wore black uniforms.
  24. Well, yes. The Super Pit exterior would look much better if it was lit up with Green and White lighting. Thank you for making an intelligent suggestion concerning our school colors.
  25. Grant didn't Pick Up The Pace? Get A Rope! Grant and the team are doing their part, honestly, more than their part. It's up to the athletics department to promote the successful basketball program. There are some very simple items to correct. North Texas Super Pit Here's a photo outside the Super Pit at night. How does anybody ever know there's an event there? You have got to make it be an event before people will want to attend the event. .
