  1. Yeah, I had started to post it as a Good News/Bad News statement, but felt I really didn't have enough information to critique the guy. 3 other players on his team average as many or more rebounds than Muse. Still, shooting nearly 72% is pretty impressive.
  2. North Texas signee forward Curtis Muse Mineral Area College is shooting an unbelievable 71.7 percent from the field (including 3 point shots) this season at Mineral Area College. I'm assuming that includes a high percentage of dunks. Total Field Goal Percentage Leaders (2's + 3's) Athlete School Games Made Attempts Percentage 1. Curtis Muse Mineral Area 20 76 106 71.7 Curtis is also averaging 4.7 rebounds and 1 block per game. NJCAA Region XVI Basketball Leaders Page Curtis Muse - player profile page Mineral Area College basketball roster There's still nothing to report on North Texas' other signee Jonathan Jackson. He played in a couple of games earlier in the season, but has been out with some type of injury.
  3. I saw Jamario talking with his mother and his sister after the banquet. He looks like he has lost weight. His hamstring is probably better and he's likely preparing for the track season. Go Go Jamario!
  4. We should have started it by signing Ronnie Jr. It seems that, like his father, he has become quite a player.
  5. We lose 69 to 60. Foulfest at end of game makes the score look not as close.
  6. 65 to 60 with 25 seconds left. North Texas came back from down by 18 in second half to make it a tight game.
  7. UALR 62 to 54. 1/2 minute left.
  8. 60 to 54. Less than 2 minutes left, UARL ball.
  9. Brown misses 3 shot. UALR gets 3 point play after foul on Simpson. 58 to 50. 3:45 left in the game.
  10. UALR 55 to 50 after 16 to 2 NT run. UALR 6.5 minutes without basket. 5.5 minutes left.
  11. Trojans go on 13 to 3 run, lead North Texas 47 to 33.
  12. Shooting 32%, 9 of 28. 13 first half turnovers. Davis leads North Texas with 6 points, 5 for Hines, 4 for Stewart. Rebounding edge to UALR 21 to 20. Other 'Belt action. Troy 71 to 44 over WKU late in game. South Alabama up on MTSU.
  13. UALR 28-24 at the half.
  14. We really need to start promoting the hell out of the two home games at the end of this month. Send 2 free tickets to every football season ticket holder. Send 2 free tickets to every active member of the North Texas Exes. If a raucous sellout crowd were to witness a victory in that Sout Alabama game, it will go a long way towards jump starting a program which has been somewhat dormant for more than two decades.
  15. Well, theres 12 days left. I haven't heard anything yet or received anything in the mail, but there's still time. Go Mean Green!
  16. It's entirely possible that Paul Batchelder could be too busy working on that Steve & Barry's deal to be spending time writing replys to e-mails.
  17. The January 28th coincides with the final weekend of FOOTBALL recruiting. The recruits will be in attendance at the game. This would also be a great time to start spreading some news about activities involving athletics on our campus. Basketball has a nationally ranked recruiting class that will be playing next season, there are several new facilities nearing completion, the Athletic Center has been finished out, we have an outstanding nonconference home slate for football including SMU and La Tech. There are a lot of positive things happening at North Texas. Why keep them a secret? Confirmed and committed season ticket purchasing fans are readily available. Why not get them involved early, and maybe expose them to a little North Texas basketball in the process. Well, theres 13 days left. Go Mean Green!
  18. I went there a week ago, and not only could I not find any, neither could either of the clerks that were working the sales floor. Maybe they've received another shipment in the last few days, but maybe they're just that well hidden.
  19. Well, there are two weeks remaining. Tickets will need to be mailed soon to allow fans enough time to include this game in their plans. Has anyone heard anything yet about any promotions?
  20. So, the January 28th basketball game against Sout Alabama is the only home game that will be played during recruiting visits. At least it happens during the final week of recruiting which is SO important. I wonder what the North Texas Athletic Department is planning to insure that we have a huge enthusiastic crowd to show to recruits at that game. click here: Maybe I Could Make A Few Suggestions
  21. They stocked North Texas shirts and sweatshirts in the weeks preceding Christmas. In spite of 'hiding' the North Texas sweatshirts because of what they termed as 'excessive sales without replacement merchandise', Steve & Barry's sold out of North Texas sweatshirts within a week. All of the green North Texas tee shirts are also perpetually out of stock. The only shirt that has regularly stayed in stock is a short sleeved heather gray shirt with generic scripted North Texas on the front. Steve & Barry's just isn't willing to invest a whole lot into a school that will not show any signs of cooperation. I think it's obvious that I have done everything that I personally can, and at this point I have to agree with the Steve & Barry's management that The University of North Texas has been impossible for them to work with. According to the Branding Department, this failure lies at the feet of the North Texas Athletic Department. Branding Department's Response To Dearth Of North Texas Merchandise So UNTLifer, what was the response that was provided by Paul Batchelder?
  22. What! We're not going to put all our eggs in that basket again?
  23. Yes. I'm sorry if I disguised it too well.
  24. Only 43 of his team's 65 points? What's wrong, is he still injured?
  25. I think that we'll probably see some major promotions this semester to get those attendance numbers raised. It's difficult to promote the basketball games while it's still football season, and it's also hard to do any special promotions during the semester break when the students are gone. (we likely didn't see too much this past year because the athletic department staff was so busy preparing for the SBC tournament) Our current Athletic Director has always shown a willingness to be receptive to promotional ideas from the fans. He may not always agree as to how worthwhile or cost effective suggested promotions may be, but he will always listen and consider the possible options. This has not always been the case with our former ADs at North Texas.
