I haven't seen it on the site, but if true, I think it's pretty funny. North Texas has always been their Super Bowl. Remember this past season when SMU fans on their own site said that the North Texas game was the most anticipated game of the year? It wasn't even close, someting like 70% of their fans said so. More SMU fans were looking forward to the North Texas game than all CUSA games combined. They were willing to scrap this whole past season to concentrate on their chance to beat North Texas, and now we can see that their obsession with North Texas continues. Although it sure seems early, they are probably starting to get excited about the series that starts in 2016.

Justin Willis
ADLER replied to UNTLifer's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Willis is a very good athlete, but not the prototype quarterback for the June Jones offense, and his history of suspensions don't help his case. The two freshmen are both incredibly accurate passers but will also make their share of freshman mistakes. Willis could possibly win more games this year, but it could be at the cost of delaying the full implementation of June's offense. This is officially a rebuilding year at SMU, and coming off a 1-12 season, there is nothing wrong with that. Willis may ride it out for the next two years to get the diploma or he may transfer within the next week to a Playoff Championship Subdivision (1-AA) school where he can get more playing time. -
I think it took everyone by surprise, kind of like when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor.

Who Would Be On Your North Texas Mt. Rushmore?
ADLER replied to UNTLifer's topic in Mean Green Football
Hakeem, Craig and Earl. No way on journeyman Nolan Ryan, unless they put it where it belongs, right behind a sculpture of Mike Scott. Abner Haynes, Joe Green, Don January and Ann Sheridan (strictly for aesthetics) -
Utah State was already getting pretty bad before Dickey got there, Dickey is just speeding up the process. Unfortubately for Utah State, their anemic offense doesn't draw fan interest and they may soon be removed from the Bowl Championship Subdivision because of their low attendance.

Maybe Mayberry Louisiana had something that Mr. Roman desperately needed. -

Is the scrimmage really "closed to the public", or is it again only open to friends, family, and any Sally-Sweet-Knees while everyone that the athletic department /football staff dislikes is kicked out.

He sarcastically referred to them as "fundraisers".

Ebay - LIFE MAGAZINE, ANN SHERIDAN Actress Ann Sheridan played basketball at North Texas (her real name was Clara Lou Sheridan) during the early 1930's before moving to Hollywood. She starred in such films as Angels with Dirty Faces (1938), opposite James Cagney and Humphrey Bogart, Dodge City (1939) with Errol Flynn and Olivia de Havilland, Torrid Zone with Cagney and They Drive by Night with George Raft and Bogart (both 1940), The Man Who Came to Dinner (1942) with Bette Davis, and Kings Row (1942), where she received top billing playing opposite Ronald Reagan, Robert Cummings, and Betty Field. Known for having a fine singing voice, Ann also appeared in such musicals as Thank Your Lucky Stars (1943) and Shine On, Harvest Moon (1944). She was also memorable in two of her biggest hits, Nora Prentiss and The Unfaithful, both in 1947. In 1939 Sheridan was labeled by Life Magazine as the Number 1 Glamour Girl in the World, and was one of the most popular pin-up girls for American GI's through World War II.

That is a pretty serious issue in that it could easily be abused. Let's just say that we have a player that has already redshirted a year and has a nagging injury from spring practice or had offseason surgery. Instead of waiting until the player is fully healthy to be added to the depth chart in November, why not let him play a little in the first game and claim that he reinjured himself. He could sit the remainder of the year but would have 4 full seasons remaining if he received that medical redshirt. North Texas has a couple of players right now that would benefit from that move and get a 6th year.

Howards just fighting fire with fire. Earlier this summer Texas assistant coach Major Applewhite responded to a question about who would be this season's starting quarterback by saying "We won't really know until the 3rd game, since we don't play anybody in our first 2 games. We play Florida Atlantic and UTEP, and since we're going to kick their asses we won't really be able to tell for sure until we play some actual competition."

I much prefer Dickey's "We're just going down there to collect a paycheck" speeches to get the fans fired up.

I want anything that is possible done to raise the level of competition and the level of prestige for the Sun Belt. I want every other team in the Belt to be as good as it possibly can be, and I still want North Texas to dominate them.

It takes very little intestinal fortitude to be a bootlicker to any of the 'chosen' programs. And hopefully kissing Madonna will have the same effect for ARod's career that it had for Britney Spears.

Good for Troy, good for the Sun Belt, and ultimately, good for North Texas. I would hate to see our methods for ascention centered on other Belt teams not improving. We need every Belt team (including us) to keep improving to improve the image of the conference and insure that we have teams eligible for every bowl slot that may become available.

Hey KAjun, is that Danny's bus or are there now several of them at the MTSU tailgate grounds?

Once again the Mean Green nation raise their arms in the air. For some it's in prayer, for some it's a reaction to uncertainty, and for others, surrender. I like to think it is done to make this roller coaster we're riding as exciting as it can be. What makes sports great is the emotional attachment derived from dealing with those drops and ascents. If you are afraid of the ride then you can deal with it as many others already have. You can simply castrate yourself and become another fan of the Longhorns or Yankees.

Damn! Looks real to me! They are discussing her potential to return to the team on the Pillpopper Haven message board. "Something this serious probably requires a team vote"? Now we can begin to understand why they have a hallucination for a mascot.

Former Miss Basketball Arnika Brown arrested Arnika Brown, a former Miss Basketball and 2008 Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year, has been arrested in Hopkinsville for possessing counterfeit money, according to the Hopkinsville Police Department. According to WKDZ Radio News, Brown is charged with 11 counts of First-Degree Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument (all felonies) and five counts of Theft by Deception under $300 (all misdemeanors). Hopkinsville Police arrested Brown Saturday night following an investigation of counterfeit money being passed at several Hopkinsville businesses. According to the arrest report, Brown said she had been with another person at several locations, passing the fake bills to make the purchases. The report did not state when the incidents occurred. The arrest report also stated Brown admitted to having five fake $100 bills but had thrown them away. The report did not state which businesses were involved or what types of merchandise were purchased. On the arrest citation, it listed Brown's occupation as a Western Kentucky University student. Hopkinsville police expect to make another arrest in the case. Brown was lodged in the Christian County Jail on a $114,000 surety bond. Brown was named Miss Basketball in 2006 and was given a scholarship to the University of Kentucky. However, she left before school began that fall. She enrolled at St. Catherine's College but left before playing a game. She enrolled at Western Kentucky University last year and was named the Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year after averaging 10 points and seven rebounds for the Lady Toppers.

You can find the opinions of Mean Green fans regarding the A-11 Offense at this A-11 Offense thread There are also a few more treads on YouTube both displaying and discussing the offense.. I think the offense is a great idea. Why restrict yourself by undefined parameters?
