The LSU fans are watching Hurricane Ike's progress here: Tiger Droppings Message Board

Students Will Help Decide The Fate Of A New Unt Stadium
ADLER replied to UNTflyer's topic in Mean Green Football
Looks great. I don't believe that is the revised HKS design since it sure seems to match so well with the previous set of drawings from F&S Partners. I am anxious to see the model today as well as any new HKS illustrations. -
Sustained Winds of 115 MPH Current path of Hurricane Ike Once it hits the warmer Gulf water Ike could potentially become a monster that dwarfs the strength that Katrina had in 2005. It already has sustained winds of 115 MPH. That could pull one hell of a storm surge, one that could cross any levee system. If the forecasted path is anywhere near accurate, there will not be any games played in New Orleans or Baton Rouge next weekend.

Could The Wac Be Looking To Move Back Into Texas?
ADLER replied to UNTflyer's topic in Mean Green Football
Gee, I really, really, really think a good Eastern WAC would be: Louisiana Tech Bulldogs North Texas Mean Green SMU Mustangs TCU Horned Frogs Texas Longhorns Dallas Cowboys Houston Texans San Antonio Vikings (relocated to join this new division) Imagine how cool that would be! Maybe we can make an even bigger version of JerryWorld Stadium out of green and white striped candy and put it on clouds hovering over the North Texas Athletic Village! Yeah, that'll be really neat! -
Look Who Turned

It's a good thing that McCain didn't select Cheeta as a running mate. It could have doomed the ticket. Cheeta is almost as old as McCain and possibly has even less qualifications than Palin. -
Yeah, I had a dream once, I was all alone, rolling a big donut, and this snake wearing a vest... *flashback to the 80's

Most people just use alcoholic beverages at tailgating, and the DEA is eventually going to catch on to you smuggling your firebds through Sweden.
-
I'm optimistic. Take away those 7 plays where KSU scored and North Texas wins the game 6-0. Let's see who takes this statement 'hook, line, and sinker'.
-
I stand corrected. Hardman only had 11 sacks in that game against Tulsa. Cedrick Hardman
-
It is what happened. Unfortunately the NCAA (nor NFL) officially kept sack stats back then., but nobody had ever heard about a player getting 11 in one day.

This was a 2006 article from the Topeka Capital-Journal I scanned the North Texas crowd but did not see him or his parents at the game. This young man and his family have sacrificed so much to North Texas football and I hope that the bonds between them and the program have not been lost.

Over 23,000 maybe over 25,000. The home season opener usually draws well so 18-20K North Texas fans is probable. Tulsa has been very successful since the last time the 2005 game and will bring many more fans than 2005, possibly 4-6K depending on weather forecast. It's also the closest road game for the Tulsa fans but many may forego the trip since they also play at SMU next month. This game would have been better for Tulsa and North Texas if it were played in the alternating years in which they don't play at SMU. I see this as being an excellent series for both schools. It's financially lucrative, and it gives recruiting exposure in the right areas. The only bad thing about it are the butt kickings that we have received in recent years. (I still can't believe; favored to win and lost by over 50. Not too often that happens.) Well, at least Cedrick Hardman set the NCAA single game sack record by recording 11 one afternoon against Tulsa in 1969.

I hate to see it rain on their fiesta, but it looks like Gustav will be attending the Arkansas State-Texas Southern game on Saturday in Jonesburo. Sad, the most excitement that the program has ever had to start a season and they get a tropical depression for the home opener. ASU should dispatch TSU rather easily, setting up a huge game home game against Southern Miss.

I know, it's so bad that we even have a 20% chance of light showers by Thursday even though Friday and Saturday are forecasted to be clear weather. And those dreaded Tuesday and Wednesday showers may seriously threaten our beloved watering restrictions.

Oh, don't grovel! If there's one thing I can't stand, it's people groveling. And don't apologize. Every time I try to talk to someone it's "sorry this" and "forgive me that" and "I'm not worthy". Right! YYZ28 -- your Members of the gomeangreen.com board shall have a task to make them an example in these dark times. Behold! YYZ28, this is the Football Poll. Look well, YYZ28, for it is your sacred task to win this Poll. That is your purpose, YYZ28 -- the Quest for the Football Poll.

We should play those teams only once we become good enough to schedule home-andhome series with those schools. Sportsmanship, after all, is about being able to play on a level playing field. Our opponents need to realize that before they expect us to participate. How many quality wins has the Sun Belt had over BCS programs in the last 5 years? How many of those wins have been at the home of those BCS schools? Not many that I can think of, MT over Vandy and ULM over Alabama last year are the only ones I can remember. -

Does anybody remember Potty from the old Paradise board? He had threatened to 'Poat' over on the TCU board as much as and whenever he wanted. The typing error in the threat led to some of the most humerous pages ever on Killerfrogs. Potty last posted on the Mean Green board in August 26, 1999. We were notified by the UNLV guys that one of our guys was trapped on one of their older boards. He had started posting on the UNLV message board in anticipation of the opening game of that season and got stuck in a Runnin' Rebels board. Something was wrong with his computer, it had set that UNLV message board as his home page and would not let him leave for another web address. He was desparate to escape, rebooting his computer and unplugging his computer but nothing helped. He couldn't get out. For weeks, maybe even months, after the game Potty was still stuck in there. If any North Texas fans ventured over there and answered one of his multitudes of lonely posts you would be bombarded with questions of what's happening on the Mean Green board. After a while I guess we all just forgot about poor Potty. I wonder if he's still out there, trapped, still carving messages in the walls of some obsolete UNLV chat room.

Absolutely! Look how it has destroyed Boise State recruiting. Recruits don't want to go to a school where they can't have the honor of being publicly humiliated in the largest forums possible. Why would anybody ever want to go to sleep at night without hearing sometime during the day how much they suck. Not saying this is the case at good ol' NT, but at other schools, selling "body bag games" is an easy way for an athletic department to mask the fact that they are not getting their job accomplished through legitimate efforts. Sure it destroys the programs image and it's ability to succeed, but it's a hell of a lot easier than scheduling home games, selling tickets and subsequently building a fan base. -
That's an old LSU trick. They send their larva over to chant "Tiga Bait" and tell you how much your team sucks. When you try to run off the little assholes, their parents are "only doing the right thing" by violently defending their sweet little innocent angels. My wife and I walked to the stadium with another couple who were carrying their baby daughter. A group of LSU drunks started yelling insults, and hurled a full beer can when they didn't get the reaction they were looking for. It bounced harmlessly off the sidewalk into the grass, but would certainly have been horrendous if it had hit the baby. A person I know got in trouble when he was a student at LSU for throwing a bourbon bottle during a game. The bottle knocked one of the LSU female cheerleaders unconscious when she was struck in the head. The offending student was caught and brought before the university for discipline. His excuse was that he was drunk and had intended to hit the visiting team when they were emerging out of their tunnel. That made the incident somewhat justifiable for the LSU folks. He received no suspension, just a stern warning. During the 2000 game LSU fans kept reaching over the rail and answering the sideline phone that the North Texas coaches up in the press box used to communicate with the quarterbacks on the sideline. Several of the little jackasses wanted to start trouble when a couple of the North Texas fans politely asked them to please stop.

Gawd, I didn't remember that I was the one that turned off the lights in the original old message board. Yeah, we had Whitman Mayo that hated Trilli, and we had LoyalFan that loved Dickey. And a motley crew that formed the original Mean Green Club, back when it was run by the fans, under the direction of Mean Rob. I still even have my original Mean Green Club polo shirt although I haven't worn it in years. I can't seem to part with it. They were certainly distictive. I still remember how so many people were wearing them at the 2000 game in Waco.

It was the first of the Mean Green Summer Kickoff parties and was held at Harry's house in Arlington. Since 1996 North Texas fans had by chance stumbled accross the North Texas Eagles forum on the old Paradise Message Boards and Harry's Mean Green Recruiting while surfing this new internet. It was the first opportunity for many of the posters from the several very early North Texas message boards to actually meet each other. Darrell Dickey was unable to attend but he did send his popular new offensive coordinator Ramon Flanigan. Dickey's absence was easily overlooked as much of the excitement at the party surrounded dynamic basketball coach Vic Trilli who was coming off what would be the longest winning streak of his 4 year career at North Texas (back to bact wins against Nevada and Utah State to end the 2008 season). I wonder how many of those old guys are still checking these message boards. I originally posted under the generic moniker GreenFan. Sound off if you were around back then. If it was different than your current one, what was your original message board name.
