They should work on building the rivalry so that game can be a bigger deal when both teams rejoin the Big Sky.

Excellent points Stebo. Hopefully the end result will be less "canned hunt" games. -

**Warning**Off Topic Reply: From viewing the train wreck that is their Wikipedia page, it appears that the Delta Lodge may be no longer. Delta Lodge Wikipedia page I knew several of the Sammys, and later a few Delta Lodge members. They certainly marched to the beat of a different drummer, but they were all good guys. Their group prospered until the mid-eighties until the obvious decline of their neighborhood was signalled by Sig Tau Gamma's moving in accross the street. At that point there was little option other than to burn down the house and wait for the Sig Tau's to move away before rebuilding.

The whole Green Brigade has only performed at two basketball games from what I can remember. The first time was early 80's and they saluted the Drum Line which had just won a national contest with I believe Michigan being the runner-up. The whole Brigade played Fleetwood Mac's http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iv5UvVaIxRY. It was incredible, with the drums pounding and the Brigade singing the "just tell me that you love me!" and "tusk!" lines. It was far better than the the original version and created an electric atmosphere. The second time was about ten years later and the Brigade performed Kansas' "Carry On My Wayward Son" which was later on the Green Brigades album. It was amazing to have that in the Super Pit; the solo performances in the song would hit a peak and then the whole band would reply like thunder. I lost that CD at one of the tailgate parties and would love to get another copy. What would it take to get the whole Green Brigade to perform this season's Bohemian Rhapsody show at halftime of the Saturday, December 6, 2008 basketball game against New Mexico State? It would be absolutely amazing. 9dEgVe1QJ94 There is just no comparing this Fouts Field performance with how powerful it would be in the Super Pit.

I found this bit interesting: North Texas is by far the lowest budgeted NCAA Division 1 Football Bowl Subdivision school in Texas because it has historically been underfunded by service fees. The lack of funding has made it very difficult for North Texas to be consistently successful. (that would be an understated opinion for many on campus) Compare those modest fees listed above to dedicated athletics fees at other Texas schools which have aspirations to join North Texas in the Bowl Subdivision. UTSA students passed their referendum to raise their dedicated athletics fee from $10 per credit hour to $20 per credit hour, capped at $240 per semester (12 hours). UTSA Athletics Fee Texas State students passed their referendum to raise their dedicated athletics fee from $10 per credit hour to $20 per credit hour, capped at $300 per semester (15 hours). Texas State Athletics Fee The dedicated athletics fees at these schools are being raised in increments starting immediately. Completed in 1952, the current stadium facilityat North Texas, Fouts Field, is deteriorating and needs to be replaced. The proposed North Texas fee will not even start until construction of a replacement stadium is completed, probably Fall 2011 at the earliest. Even with the proposed increase, the student contribution at North Texas will still be half of what Texas schools which don't even yet have NCAA Division 1 Bowl Subdivision football are charging. Additionally, by delaying the start of the fee until the completion of the stadium there will not be unexpected costs placed upon current students. Prospective students will be able to evaluate the fees at North Texas and other schools as factors when making their college selection. This makes it totally "fair" for North Texas students that enroll in the future. Hopefully the Daily and the student body will realize the cost effectiveness of what's being proposed.

Mauge becoming center of attention Seven-foot Putnam Science Academy center Rundell Mauge, a native of Trinidad came to Connecticut via Texas where, despite playing only junior varsity basketball, some Division-I scouts were coming around to see him play. “When he gets to the next level, they’re going to beef him up and will continue to do the skill work,” Espinosa said of his rail-thin center, who weighs only 210 pounds. “He has so much potential. He’s very athletic, can use both hands and he’s working hard, but he has a long way to go.” That means as far as the future for the senior, junior college, here he comes. Because of his moving around from Trinidad to Texas to Connecticut in a short time span, Mauge is not eligible to play Division-I basketball as of yet. “He isn’t going to get through the NCAA clearing house. He’s not eligible for Division-I or Division-II and he’s a low Division-I player right now,” Espinosa said. “The NCAA put in a new rule where you can only get one core class per year so if he goes post-graduate, he can only get one core class and he’s more than one short. There were a lot of sketchy PG programs where (a player) is nine core credits short and they would get nine (in one year) and move on to Division-I. It would be a waste for him to go PG, he needs to redshirt at a junior college.” “I’m seven core credits short, so I have to go juco,” Mauge said. But those Division-I programs are willing to watch and wait. “I have Texas Christian, Texas, Georgetown and Baylor interested in me,” he said. While he works on his academics, he’s also planning to continue to focus on his athletic development. “I’m working on my jump shot and some more of those up-and-under moves in the post,” Mauge said. He also needs to probably eat a little more, although Espinosa has enjoyed the ride just the way he is. “It’s been fun,” Espinosa said. “He’s a pleasure to coach, never gives us any problems on or off the court, and he works hard. In your lifetime, you don’t coach many 7-footers, especially athletic 7-footers, so it’s a privilege.”

cf1HMZbTcz0 Here it is. And yes, all performers are aware that it is disrespectful to a country to either alter it's national anthem or intentionally perform it poorly. It's like burning the flag, you are free to do it, but other people are certainly free to display that they don't like you doing it.

His kids Major and Delon both played for North Texas. Mean Joe had a long career as an assistant coach with the Steelers, Cardinals, and the Dolphins. He does now live in Flower Mound and has been to several games since he retired from coaching, I think he still does some scouting (prospect evaluations) for the Steelers, but he comes to North Texas games when he can.

Comparing Vizza To.... Bo Levi Mitchell.....no Way....

Mitchell is going to be a good quarterback. He has the talent, he just needs experience in the system. -
When is the return game?

They only have two weeks to perfect this A-11 thing they've been practicing before the Rice game. Rice is going to be too preocupied preparing for UT to make any serious adjustments.

OK, so extreme drunkedness officially started at noon today. I'm going to go out on a limb here with an off the wall prediction. Something bad (and not football related) is going to happen at this game. There are going to be far too many tickets handed down to teenagers because rational adults simply aren't interested in watching this game during this weather. This will be the big opportunity for many of them to don their finest purple garb and realize their trailer trash fantasies. There will be too many intoxicated, unsupervised, feral degenerates congregated in one place for something bad not to happen.

This message was sent out to all departments on campus today. Let's see, closed for classes the day before the worst of the storm hits Baton Rouge, but put people on an upper deck of that stadium as lightning targets while the tropical storm is raging Saturday evening?
-
I will be there. Thanks guys for putting together this function for us North Texas faithful that will not be able to make the trip to Baton Rouge this week. Reserving the media room at the Pourhouse will also make it possible to keep out any purple clad trolls.

Oh, and Hurricane Ike has now been upgraded to a Category 4 Hurricane (Same as Katrina) and has not even gotten to the warm Gulf waters yet. Sustained winds are already at 135 miles per hour. Hurricane Ike on National Weather Service. This storm could possibly escalate into the Catagory 5 storm that New Orleans has been dreading for decades. And there still is the distinct possibility of this storm going towards New Orleans or southern coastal Louisiana. Potential path of Ike

So true, especially considering the time constraints the two schools and the venues are facing for getting the location changed. How long can you maintain a 'wait and see' before it becomes too late to keep the game scheduled?

LSU has already released a statement that the game will not be played in Shreveport. They's have already narrowed the choices to Tiger Stadium, the Superdome, and Texas Stadium.
