  1. Here's the actual press conference. s3_ZxYg1r88
  2. I think Joe Biden handled the questions very well. He actually knows what he is talking about, actually knows who those historical figures are, knows what policies are, and doesn't need to keep blurting scripted talking points. He certainly didn't start babbling incoherently like lj3iNxZ8Dww Throw a brown wig and glasses on that chick and I couldn't tell the difference.
  3. Yeah, what you said.
  4. I am just relieved that this election is going to be determined by posters exchanging insults on the gomeangreen.com message board. Kinda makes me proud to just be a part of it all.
  5. Not that I think another position should be added to his resume', but I think Warren would have made an outstanding fullback in this offense. He has size, and he has (at least he used to have) speed, and he has the ability to throw a fairly decent pass if needed. I remember his freshman year when he played quarterback in practices, Warren was certainly not a polished passing quarterback, but he was very dangerous when he started running. And Mahon...Good job on the opening kickoff. The regular returners keep dropping 'em and the linebacker with the taped hands makes a solid catch and a decent return.
  6. A couple of questions: Why isn't Marching Band a credit course? Why shouldn't it count as a PE for music majors or even as a credit music course? In a school of 34,000, especially at North Texas which is a school well known for musicians, why are there not students that aren't music majors in the band? Couldn't an open recruitment of qualified students result in an 800-1000 member Green Brigade? I think the largest music school in the country should have an incredibly impressive (and huge) band for football games and parades. Is a thousand member band practial/possible? What are the biggest bands in the country?
  7. Alright, let's end this 'Palin is qualified' debate. She's not. She is the governor of Alaska and has only held that position for the last two years. At 663,000 square miles, Alaska is larger than the combined area of the 23 smallest U.S. States and Districts: Washington, D.C., Rhode Island, Delaware, Connecticut, Hawaii, New Jersey, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maryland, West Virginia, South Carolina, Maine, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, North Carolina. The total population of this huge state (680,000) is about one third of Tarrant County, Texas. The second largest city in Alaska, Fairbanks, is half the size of Denton. The oil and gas industry dominates the Alaskan economy, with more than 80% of the state's revenues derived from petroleum extraction. Oil prices had risen drastically over the past few years and Alaska has been a huge beneficiary of this rise. A plate of spaghetti could have been governor and the economy would have prospered. None of it is due to Sarah Palin.
  8. Yes, and even third graders were able to figure out that she has no f'n idea what she's doing. Palin is a lot like a parrot. Both can be taught to repeat words and phrases, but neither has the slightest clue what they are actually saying.
  9. Well said Stebo. A change needed to be made but I do wish that we had been able to retain a couple of the coaches from his staff.
  10. Gee Dad, I know you suggested Mayfield Power but it wasn't really doing anything. Eddie said that Jet Electro was a sure thing. Well, Ward wasn't around to bail out Wally and Beav this time.
  11. The $51 million being contributed is coming from the hotel/car rental/ restaurant tax. Studies by the city indicate that division 1 sports will increase tourism revenue by something like $83 million annualy. That number sounds huge to me, but it's their justification for putting all that money into UTSA athletics. It's not a move to help UTSA, it's a move to bolster tourism revenue and UTSA is the tool to be utilized, similar to what Orlando has accomplished with Central Florida.
  12. Atta Boy Charlie! You tell 'em how the cow eats the cabbage! Great rant!
  13. To put their growth in perspective, Hayden Fry was the coach at North Texas when UTSA was created. It is growing at an incredible rate and it's athletic program is receiving an awful lot of money from the city and county to build facilities. (Projected to be in the $50 million range by 2012.) Although I view UTSA as competition, I think of them (and Texas State) as being more of an opportunity than as a threat for North Texas. As they grow their programs, these could become some of the in-state rivals that we have been sorely lacking.
  14. Please excuse me, but your figures are way off. UTSA has 29,000 students, North Texas has 32,500 on it's Denton campus. The UTSA student athletic fees are $240 per semester. (not the $250 reported) The maximum at North Texas will be $150 per semester, and that's not until the 2011-2012 school year. The modest North Texas fee increase will primarily go towards paying for a stadium, UTSA is expected to have free use of the Alamo Dome. That is a gigantic difference in remaining operating budgets. And all that is before factoring the enormous amount of money that San Antonio / Bexar County have committed to putting into UTSA athletics. Denton, city and county, don't give North Texas anything.
  15. Wow, you would think they would have a better picture of associate athletic director Brad Parrott. He looks like he's taking it in the tail.
  16. And....why not use that property to build establishments that will further enhance the university? Why not give a sweetheart lease to build a Stars Center? There's one about every 10 miles going up the Highway 121 corridor but not a single one in Denton County.
  17. That's the whole point. Bonnie Brea already crosses the railroad track, just on the southern side of the Mean Green Village. Reroute it so it crosses the railroad track NORTH of the Mean Green Village and runs on the other side of the railroad tracks behind the baseball, softball, and soccer facilities. That frontage property over there is otherwise landlocked because no entrance or exit ramps can be put there for a frontage road. If the athletic department were to own that property, it could garner additional revenue by controlling the commercial contracts of any restaurants. Remeber, there is going to be a HUGE office/warehouse complex built accross I-35W in the near future. Plan now with infrastructure to profit later.
  18. This could be to our benefit. Imagine that the drainage was rerouted to the lower area between the railroad tracks and I-35W, and Bonnie Brea was then sent the same route but rejoining the current Bonnie Brae path south of the athletic village. That would take 'through-traffic' out of the Mean Green Village which would help incorporate the whole area instead of being divided as it is, eliminating the throughway would allow for significantly more parking, free local residents from having to go through a 20 mph school zone, and it would also enable restaurants to build along that valuable frontage property that faces the interstate.
  19. Lets see, you guys want everyone to watch an 82 year old man run out on the field, and then run into the end zone. Then you're going to fire off a cannon and watch to see what happens. You guys are some sick puppies.
  20. I usually go but tonight I got roped into assisting at a food bank. Damn hungry people. Why don't they just go to a restaurant, or better yet, go shoot a moose? Is that asking too much? Seriously, if they're not motivated enough to marry a beer heiress for themselves, then why should we have to support them?
  21. Red-tailed Hawk...........................$600.00 Falconry course............................$350.00 Falconry permit.............................$24.00 Dinner that night...........................Priceless
  22. Because a Sikorsky S-61 wouldn't fit. duh.
  23. Damn right! It may be a loony bin, but it's our loony bin, and we're certianly entitled to make faces out the window at the crazy people we see wandering around. And Andy Hogue, yep, he's a certified creationist, white squirrel loving, football hating, Jesus freak right wing nutjob.
  24. That ref should sit down and enjoy a cold Bud Light after that hit.
