Well, that was the old him. He was a little mixed up at that time. He had a bad marriage, and he just gave up smoking. He's o.k. now. He's a private detective. He's been searching for the inventor of the Opti-grab.

According to the Sporting News in this story, Barnes was terminated at Oklahoma State in January 2008 after "Oklahoma State ranked 103rd in total defense, out of 119 teams in the Football Bowl Subdivision." I doubt that Coach Barnes was the cause of the poor defensive performance, but Gandy surely felt pressure to make changes with all of the money that boosters were throwing at the program. My personal opinion is that Nelson Barnes is a tough as nails coach that seemed not only very popular with his players while he coached at North Texas, but also got them to play their best. I'd love to see him back with North Texas.

I doubt that Riley gets pissed about people dumpster-diving for his discarded items. It's probably just idle gossip. By the way, what's the name of your soap opera?

Whoever wins this bowl has a legitimate claim to being the second place team in the country, but Texas and USC also have a claim to that honor. Unfortunately none of those have a legitimate claim at the National Title, well, because there's no substitute for perfection. At 13-0 and scheduling the toughest teams that would play them, Utah was perfect.

Congratulations To The National Champions..utah Utes.

Didn't Oregon State play both? What were the results of those games? -

True, if being in a non-BCS conference is such a distinct advantage, why aren't any of the BCS schools willing to switch? What worse, being the cowards, or being the bootlickers that worship the cowards? Oklahoma only played one non-conference road game, against Washington, Florida didn't play a single non-conference road game. F'ing cowards, both of them, and neither school deserves any rewards, well, other than that crystal consolation trophy. Utah Utes, 2008 National Champions by every person that understands sports. -

Utah is the legitimate National Champion. Florida is going to play Oklahoma for second place honors in the Bowl Consolation Series Championship. I love how morons whine "but if Utah played in this BCS conference or that BCS conference". Utah is undefeated, beat top ten ranked TCU, beat ranked Oregon State after OSU thumped USC, beat a then highly ranked BYU, just beat the BCS member that was ranked number 1 much of this season. Oh, and Utah plays legitimate contenders, even on the road, during non-conference play. You can't say that about any of the cowardly BCS schools that are claiming they have a claim at the national title. Utah Utes, 2008 National Champions. -
This should clarify any questions.

So true. It's exactly as I said in the first page of this thread. He's just reporting facts and offering his opinions. Those other reporters have made quite a name for themselves doing the same.

Sure, he'd be nice to have, but let's be honest here, Sam was all-world coming out of Cy-Fair and every school in the country would have wanted him. He'll still be heavily recruited by LSU and the southern Big XII schools and with A&M being right up the road, he probably has dozens of friends there. Plus, if he were to commit to North Texas, it would be reported that it was a move only out of desperation by a 3 and 21 coaching staff that is desperate in a desperate attempt to replace XXXX player that said desperate coaching staff is obviously desperately trying to replace. You know that coaching staff is 3 and 21 over the last two seasons, and they have compiled only 3 wins during that time which spans 24 games. Oh, and every player that they recruit is out of desperation to replace somebody that they are desperately not happy with.

Hanoi Hannah also reported facts when she read the lists of the newly killed or imprisoned Americans to her listeners and reminded those listeners what they were missing back home. Tokyo Rose and Axis Sally performed the same type of work for their employers. Reporting facts does not mean that there is not a hidden agenda.
