Davidson's grandfather Merle was the first person with which I ever discussed North Texas football. This was way back in 1980-1981 when I was a High Schooler. Merle had a picture of Greg, who was then playing for the Houston Oilers, on the wall in his office A J Foyt Chevrolet in Houston. He said his son loved North Texas State and that it was a school that I should consider.

How Many Road Games Are You Planning To Make?
ADLER replied to Cerebus's topic in Mean Green Football
Louisiana at Lafayette and Arkansas State at Jonesboro Louisiana because it's fairly close, the tailgating is fun, and I can make a family vacation out of this little trip. Arkansas State to remind me how blessed I am to be living in Texas. -
That is from SMU's Scout.com 2008 fall camp page. That's the good part of the article. He's obviously a gifted athlete, but the rest of the story was about how he didn't adapt very quickly to his third defensive system in three years. That is probably what put him in June Jones' doghouse. I think getting to sit out this transfer year while he learns the system will be beneficial for him. The kid has receive a second chance. He has been given the opportunity to prove himself. Let's see what he can do with it.

What a stupid poll.

Well, it wouldn't cost them a penny if they weren't cowards and would play home-and-home series.

Location The proposed site for the special events center is at the northeast corner of campus between South Center and South Pecan streets at West Second street. The Center's location is strategic for both the campus community and downtown development.

Or the most meaningless, worthless stat kept in football, time of possession. Really, what the heck does that really mean, that you didn't do anything that stopped the clock while you had the ball? Wouldn't a stat stating how many offensive plays were run by each team be a better indicator of how much time each team controlled the ball?

That's a great facility, not as nice as the Super Pit, but far superior to to the outdated facilities utilized by the tiny privates in the metroplex. I hope that North Texas signs a contract with UTA like UTEP and NMSU have where they play at each others home court every year (play each other twice every year). This series could easily become a rivalry for the two schools. I'd like to see the two schools schedule the games only on Saturday nights, make the tickets free with student ID's for each school, and include away game tickets to this series with season ticket purchases. Soon you will have pregame socials develop that will build alumni support for both programs.

Cody does look like a fairly large player. Wasn't this a scene from Fast Times at Ridgemont High?

Please people, you are not all stupid enough to believe that the mess is caused by partisan politics. Yes Republicans are probably more at fault, but neither side tried to stop the bleeding... Simply put, for decades profits of corporations have been maximized by outsourcing labor and buying less expensive foriegn made goods. It makes a quick profit for shareholders but causes unemployment, and subsequent lower wages in our country. Sooner or later, all the major corporations will be foriegn owned. Ask youself what you can buy that's made in the USA. Welcome to being a third world country. What, me worry? But Bush really isn't to blame, he was a puppet for some truly evil greed driven sons of bitches that I pray will burn in hell for eternity for destroying our country for their own short term gains. And for anyone that is stupid enough to be swayed politically because of religion or gun ownership, you are nothing but a dupe.

Is J'mison Morgan A Possible Future Recruit?
ADLER replied to ADLER's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Guys, this is purely wild speculation, nothing more. Simply put; Morgan was one of the very top recruits in the nation coming out of high school. At the time, people wondered how long he'd stay at college before opting for the NBA. He signed with UCLA which had just lost it's own dominant big man as the 5th pick in the NBA draft. Everything looked like it was going to plan. Morgan showed up at UCLA and they didn't really need a player of his size for their system. Morgan was used sparingly. He was told that he would now need to be much lighter and quicker in order to get significant playing time. Morgan has since gone on a special diet and conditioning program to transform himself. see the video on Scout.com He will surely leave if he still does not see significant playing time this coming year. If he does leave, he would then have to sit a year before having 2 years of eligibility remaining. If he does leave, would his best option be to go somewhere that they could work him into the rotation, or somewhere that he would be the featured player? A featured player at a college close to home, where he has family connections, where his friends and family could watch every game he played? Time will tell, he's been everything he was billed to be, he has done everything he's been asked to do, but I see this potential NBA talent as not getting a chance to develop because of Coach Howland's system. -
Is J'mison Morgan A Possible Future Recruit?
ADLER replied to ADLER's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Nothing against Baylor, but he could run into some of the same situations there that he is facing at UCLA, a logjam at the center position. Plus Waco is over a hundred miles from his home, that is quite a round-trip drive for friends and family that want to watch all his games. In high school his parents arranged their work schedules to be able to watch all their son's games. Would that even be possible for weeknight games in Waco, I doubt it. He could be a star player at North Texas; a school close to home and the very same one where his father is in the Hall of Fame. And, yes, I remember the date that Ronnie went to the NCAA tourney as 1988; it's just that my defective keyboard occasionally mistypes numbers or creates spelling errors. -
Is J'mison 'BoBo' Morgan a possible future UNT recruit? Why not? None of this is from any inside information. It's a result of having recently talked with some UCLA fans, reading the UCLA message boards, and a few article from the press that covers UCLA basketball. The 6 foot 10, 270 pound center from South Oak Cliff that switched his 2008 letter of intent from LSU to UCLA has discovered that things are not working out so well in Los Angeles. The UCLA team is very deep in talented players and runs a system that isn't ideal for Morgan's abilities. Result: Morgan hasn't been receiving much playing time because he hasn't been developing at the desired pace. And he hasn't been developing at the desired pace because he hasn't been receiving much playing time. He's caught in a catch 22. Meanwhile, other quicker players better suited for his coach Howland's system are garnering more playing time and are passing Morgan on the depth chart. The recent 5 Star player may wind up transferring out of UCLA. Morgan has recently committed to playing another year at UCLA, but even that may be a mistake. UCLA wants to retain him for bench depth and certain man to man defensive situations where he's used to 'goon' an opposing player. For a player that had future NBA aspirations when he came out of high school, being lost in a depth chart shuffle for even one more year could have very expensive circumstances. BoBo needs to be somewhere where he will have a featured role and can keep those NBA aspirations valid. Morgan is a very solid player, he's just not very well suited for UCLA's system. Morgan would be a dominant player in the Sun Belt, would develop his game by actually getting to play, and would still have many opportunities to showcase his abilities against excellent opponents. J'mison Morgan's father Ronnie Morgan starred in basketball at North Texas after being an all-state player at SOC. Ronnie was the leading rebounder and second highest scorer on North Texas' 1986 NCAA Tournament team. After college Ronnie Morgan spent 7 years playing basketball professionally overseas to support his family and missed much of the childhood of his children. Ronnie and his wife, former South Oak Cliff cheerleader Bianca, live in the Dallas area and they would be able to attend all of J'mison's home games if he were to play for North Texas. Suddenly, a transfer seems like an excellent decision for all involved, except for UCLA, which would lose a player that they are counting on for bench depth.

Thank You To Our Alumni Association For The Event Tonight.

I believe the stated timeframe is by February 2010, but possibly as early as December 2009. The stadium is planned to be ready for the opening of the 2011 season. -
Well, like they say, hindsight is 20/20. The situation has changed quite a bit for NMSU since they committed to join the WAC. Initially the strongest lure for NMSU to the WAC was finally getting to participate in a conference with one of their two heated rivals. Unfortunately for NMSU, UTEP quickly bolted for CUSA when TCU vacated that league to join NMSU's other rival New Mexico in the Mountain West Conference. Once again, New Mexico State was left out, only now with even larger travel expenses and little exposure, other than some bodybag games, in their primary recruiting area, Texas. They experienced a brief financial windfall from the Boise and Hawaii BCS games, but their on field performances have gradually become less competitive during the last several years.

I would sure like to see Bonnie Brae rerouted to curve and cross the railroad tracks north of the softball (and hopefully future baseball stadium)to eliminate the prospect of having a 5 lane thoroughfare dividing the athletic village. A Bonnie Brae route visible from I-35W would also enable the possibility of having a small restaurant row close to that section of campus. -

Jordan's Son Quits Basketball
ADLER replied to UNTflyer's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Just think...What if Ralph Sampson had never gotten injured? We would be talking about Michael Jordan the way that we talk about World B Free, George Gervin, and other high scoring NBA legends that never won anything. -
