  1. I don't think the North Texas fans quite know what they have received in this transfer. A&M, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Arizona, Kansas, and Oklahoma State were all competing for this kid's commitment for a reason. They didn't all just offer the kid, they were all busting their humps to get him. The Horn fans on the Texas board were forecasting that Mack Brown would quickly regret not getting this kid. He's a phenomenal athlete, if healthy, he's a game breaker on the national level. William Cole Video Whoa!!!!!!!
  2. Into the light of a bright end zone!
  3. He's an outstanding athlete that had interest from every major program in the the region. I'd love to have him at North Texas if he has stayed out of trouble and if he's healthy again. What were his reasons for dismissal from OSU and has he been able to recover from the torn knee ligament he suffered a year ago? Okie Paper
  4. Why don't you tell us? Don't you have Rick on speed-dial?
  5. Sample a sip of the bitter punch Reverend Jim made. There is not a single fan on any of our opponents that predicts his team to lose to North Texas. Even on the WKU board where some are pessimistically predicting 2-10 records, one of those wins is always against North Texas. Reality lies somewhere between 0-12 and 11-1. I am predicting 5 wins this season with a 2 game swing either way depending on lucky/unlucky breaks. Anything less than 3 wins and Dodge is in the hot seat, anything more than 6 wins probably puts North Texas in the Independence Bowl and makes Dodge a hero. I am expecting 5 wins as North Texas doesn't surprise the world but still shows definite improvement.
  6. Here's a pic for any of you Mavericks that happen to be perusing the board. 1957 Rose Bowl Pennant for UTA (then Arlington State JC) Sold recently by a collector in California on his web site for $45. That would look pretty cool framed in a game room.
  7. You will probably need to contact Ben E Keith to have it special ordered.
  8. They may be able to give Ohio State a fight, and that's possibly why the match-ups were altered. If not that, then why? I don't really like how FIU has been treated in this ordeal but FIU did sign a contract that stated that that the opponent could be changed. Play the game and learn from the mistake.
  9. Cook in Scout.com Evaluation in ESPN.com It will be interesting to see where he winds up.
  10. Absolutely. There's a bunch of players from those bowl teams that deserve to be enshrined in the Hall of Fame. I do believe that they should have to wait several years though. I just can't fathom a bunch of twenty-something year olds receiving this honor. 10 years after their last game would seem to me the earliest that any player should be considered, and a coach (should we even open this can of worms right now?) shouldn't be eligible until 5 years after he/she has retired from coaching.
  11. The team looks greatly improved this season. Hopefully we will see enough success to justify giving Coach Dodge a contract extension that will build stability in this program.
  12. "At UT-Austin we never have a star player late for a meeting, we simply have the International Atomic Clock readjusted to his schedule."
  13. Davidson's grandfather Merle was the first person with which I ever discussed North Texas football. This was way back in 1980-1981 when I was a High Schooler. Merle had a picture of Greg, who was then playing for the Houston Oilers, on the wall in his office A J Foyt Chevrolet in Houston. He said his son loved North Texas State and that it was a school that I should consider.
  14. Louisiana at Lafayette and Arkansas State at Jonesboro Louisiana because it's fairly close, the tailgating is fun, and I can make a family vacation out of this little trip. Arkansas State to remind me how blessed I am to be living in Texas.
  15. That is from SMU's Scout.com 2008 fall camp page. That's the good part of the article. He's obviously a gifted athlete, but the rest of the story was about how he didn't adapt very quickly to his third defensive system in three years. That is probably what put him in June Jones' doghouse. I think getting to sit out this transfer year while he learns the system will be beneficial for him. The kid has receive a second chance. He has been given the opportunity to prove himself. Let's see what he can do with it.
  16. What a stupid poll.
  17. Well, it wouldn't cost them a penny if they weren't cowards and would play home-and-home series.
  18. Location The proposed site for the special events center is at the northeast corner of campus between South Center and South Pecan streets at West Second street. The Center's location is strategic for both the campus community and downtown development.
  19. Or the most meaningless, worthless stat kept in football, time of possession. Really, what the heck does that really mean, that you didn't do anything that stopped the clock while you had the ball? Wouldn't a stat stating how many offensive plays were run by each team be a better indicator of how much time each team controlled the ball?
  20. That's a great facility, not as nice as the Super Pit, but far superior to to the outdated facilities utilized by the tiny privates in the metroplex. I hope that North Texas signs a contract with UTA like UTEP and NMSU have where they play at each others home court every year (play each other twice every year). This series could easily become a rivalry for the two schools. I'd like to see the two schools schedule the games only on Saturday nights, make the tickets free with student ID's for each school, and include away game tickets to this series with season ticket purchases. Soon you will have pregame socials develop that will build alumni support for both programs.
  21. Cody does look like a fairly large player. Wasn't this a scene from Fast Times at Ridgemont High?
  22. Link to Turkey Drop from WKRP Although I had heard about it before I had never seen it. Pure Greatness. (and Kotter's wife is lookin' pretty good in that 70's atire)
  23. "I've got one! I've got a special purpose!" "Yes, it's fantastic! It's great! It's unbelievable! And I was afraid to tell you about it!" Special purpose
  24. Please people, you are not all stupid enough to believe that the mess is caused by partisan politics. Yes Republicans are probably more at fault, but neither side tried to stop the bleeding... Simply put, for decades profits of corporations have been maximized by outsourcing labor and buying less expensive foriegn made goods. It makes a quick profit for shareholders but causes unemployment, and subsequent lower wages in our country. Sooner or later, all the major corporations will be foriegn owned. Ask youself what you can buy that's made in the USA. Welcome to being a third world country. What, me worry? But Bush really isn't to blame, he was a puppet for some truly evil greed driven sons of bitches that I pray will burn in hell for eternity for destroying our country for their own short term gains. And for anyone that is stupid enough to be swayed politically because of religion or gun ownership, you are nothing but a dupe.
