I met her in a club down in old Soho where you drink champagne and it tastes just like Coca-Cola, C-O-L-A Cola. She walked up to me and she asked me to dance. I asked her her name and in a dark brown voice she said Lola, L-O-L-A Lola, la la la la Lola. Well I'm not the world's most physical guy but when she squeezed me tight she nearly broke my spine, oh my Lola, la la la la Lola. Well I'm not dumb but I can't understand why she walked like a woman and talked like a man, oh my Lola, la la la la Lola, la la la la Lola Well we drank champagne and danced all night under electric candle light. She picked me up and sat me on her knee, and said "Dear boy, won't you come home with me?" Well I'm not the world's most passionate guy but when I looked in her eyes I almost fell for my Lola, la la la la Lola, la la la la Lola. Lola, la la la la Lola, la la la la Lola. I pushed her away. I walked to the door. Well I fell to the floor. I got down on my knees. Then I looked at her and she at me.... Well that's the way that I want it to stay and I always want it to be that way for my Lola, la la la la Lola. Girls will be boys and boys will be girls. It's a mixed up, muddled up, shook up world, except for Lola, la la la la Lola. Well I left home just a week before and I'd never ever kissed a woman before, but Lola smiled and took me by the hand and said "Dear boy, I'm gonna make you a man." Well I'm not the world's most masculine man but I know what I am and I'm glad I'm a man, and so is Lola, la la la la Lola, la la la la Lola. Lola, la la la la Lola, la la la la Lola.

True, but these are examples of giving the game away. All three of those games would have been won with a sustained running drive, or even a conservative pass where interceptions weren't likely. Sure the opponent probably made a good move on each, but the play selection gave them that opportunity.

bPK3cDl7Ftw Watch the video above as Buddy Ryan shares his opinion of play selection with Kevin Gilbride. It's funny, funny in a sad way, but funny. Three times this year our team had a lead, was clearly dominating the opponent, and seemed like it was in position to start to put the game away, and then threw the dreaded Pick Six which changed the momentum of the game. We would all be here discussing the marked improvement this year and possible bowl invitations if we don't throw those 3 interceptions.

That I don't know, but I think it would be in his best interest. There are certainly other schools that would be interested, but at many he could run into similar depth situations to what he has experienced at UCLA. At North Texas he would be the starting center on a very good team.

Top ranked center commits to UCLA As the Seattle Times reports: Josh Smith, the 6-foot-10 275-pound senior from Kentwood High School is rated by some sites as the No. 1 high-school center in the country. How could this have any effect on North Texas? J'Mison Morgan was a highly ranked recruit as a center from Texas state champions South Oak Cliff when he signed with UCLA prior to last year. Morgan wanted a track to the NBA and UCLA seemed to offer that ability. He was raw coming out of high school and UCLA could refine his game. Problem, UCLA is very deep in talent and Morgan played sparingly, very sparingly, last season. This season Morgan isn't slated to start, and fans on UCLA's message boards are already speculating that he will be a third team 'solid depth player off the bench' by next season when Smith arrives. Bluntly put, J'Mison is never going to get the opportunity to develop his game at UCLA if he's not getting to play. He may be a very good player but he has been relegated to the roll of sitting while future NBA lottery picks receive all the quality minutes. J'Mison is a 6-foot-10 260-pound true sophomore at UCLA. He needs to transfer somewhere else if he wants to keep his NBA dream. North Texas has an excellent coach in Johnny Jones and needs a dominant big man for the middle. J'Mison Morgan has ties to North Texas, his father Ronnie was an All-Conference player at North Texas and helped carry North Texas to the 1988 NCAA Basketball Tournament. North Texas is only 40 minutes away from Oak Cliff and J'Mison Morgan's friends, family, and girlfriends could be there for all his games. Transferring at Christmas break this year would provide him the best opportunity. Why wait? He would have to sit out a year as a transfer, but that would give him the Spring 2011 semester to play along side power forward George Odufuwa and maybe make some noise in the 2011 NCAA Tournament. The following two years Morgan would be leading the team with all of the recent outstanding guards and forwards that Johnny has recruited. It's a natural fit, one that's best for all involved.

Here's the full text of the press release from UNO as posted on the NOLA board: The University of New Orleans is investigating a move from NCAA Division I-AAA to NCAA Division III status. After the severe budget cuts of the 2009-2010 fiscal year and the failure of the student referendum to increase student fees for Athletics in the spring of 2009, the University administration established plans to maintain a Division I Athletic program with far more stringent financial constraints. This, along with fundraising efforts offered by outside entities, as well as a windfall donation from the Wick Cary estate seemed to shore up UNO Athletics, at least for the current fiscal year. Unfortunately the private fundraising efforts did not materialize and the Cary estate is far less than anticipated and may take years to complete its distribution. These factors have forced the University administration to consider the future of UNO's Division I status. "We had to reduce funding for athletics in the previous round of budget cuts and since then the financial picture of the University and the athletics program has not improved," said Chancellor Tim Ryan. In addition, the Governor has suggested that future budget reductions for higher education are likely. This has prompted the University to investigate many options for athletics with the main goal of maintaining and enhancing UNO's mission and its focus on academics. Recently the administration began investigating the possibility of moving from Division I to Division III as a viable alternative. "The good thing about Division III is the focus on student-athletes. Division III is about students having a NCAA Conference experience that is an enhancement to their academic pursuits and is also much more cost effective," noted Ryan. The NCAA requires a multi-year process to move from Division I to Division II and UNO has made initial contact with NCAA officials to understand the requirements. "In Division III, universities cannot offer athletics scholarships and we are taking steps to ensure that we follow all NCAA guidelines and recommendations in this, the initial stages of consideration," Ryan said. The possible move to Division III would allow UNO's club football and soccer teams to move to NCAA Division III as well. NCAA requirements for Division III are six sports per gender. UNO feels confident it could easily field the required number of sports if not more under the reduced costs of Division III programs. The University hopes to complete its investigation in the coming months as the application would be due to the NCAA by May 15, 2010 to start the transformation process in the fall of 2010. All moves such as this are subject to approval by the LSU System as well as the NCAA.

It's insane that this is even a topic. Nobody wants to go to an afternoon game while it's blistering hot outside, and nobody enjoys spending the first half of a game looking directly into the sun. The US Navy provides the exact time that the sun will set for the next thousand years or so on he USNO site. U.S. Naval Observatory Astronomical Applications Department Sun Data for One Day The following information is provided for Denton, Denton County, Texas (longitude W97.1, latitude N33.2): Sunday 8 November 2009 Central Standard Time SUN Begin civil twilight 6:27 a.m. Sunrise 6:53 a.m. Sun transit 12:12 p.m. Sunset 5:31 p.m. End civil twilight 5:57 p.m. The NOAA.gov site list the average temperature range from the last century for each date of the year. Football games are entertainment / social events, and those events should always be scheduled after sunset during hot months. That's a no brainer. Afternoon games during November and December are an optional adjustment because of cooler weather.

A Very Out Of Shape Nation
ADLER replied to KRAM1's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
North Texas student Marvin Lee Aday, who went by Michael Lee Aday gained sixty-eight pounds in four and a half weeks to avoid being drafted into the US army during the Viet Nam war. The ploy didn't work. When he was called in for an Army physical, the Army determined that he was fit despite being heavy, color blind, having a trick shoulder, and being very concussion prone. In 1967, when his draft notice arrived, he ran off to Los Angeles, where he became a bouncer at a teenage nightclub. We know him today as the award winning artist Meat Loaf. -
Fathers, Sons To Meet As Ulm Travels To North Texas
ADLER replied to mgsteve's topic in Mean Green Football
You are right on both counts. Riley committed to Texas after his father was hired, and Ricky Bustle's son is a senior on Louisiana's offensive line. -
Yeah, we'll play at their home, and then we'll play at their home. Some schools you'd have to play three there to get two at home, but it's far easier to take the handful of cash to be everyone's road bitch.

Breaking News!
ADLER replied to meangreenbob's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Which brings up this classic quote....... Sir, thank you for the constructive criticism. It's a privilege to take comedy notes from a man of your stature. -
I'll be there with the family. We're staying at the Marriott Residence Inn south of campus. It's relatively inexpensive, opened last year, has free breakfast, and is in a safe part of town close to the university and the Blue Dog Cafe. It's close to the airport and has easy access to the attractions south of town in New Iberia and Avery Island. Amenities include a pool, tennis courts, exercise room, business center, and free high speed internet. For those of you looking for a room, try to avoid any of the hotels on Evangeline Throughway off Interstate 10. Yes, they are cheap, but they are cheap for a reason; they are old and in a rough part of town. The Hilton Garden Inn Lafayette/Cajundome is the only hotel within walking distance of the stadium and has internet deals running for $99 through priceline, but parking is free at the stadium so there's very little benefit to booking so close. Things I'd Like To See Unt Work On During The Bye Week
ADLER replied to mgsteve's topic in Mean Green Football
I think the writer makes some interesting obsevations on all 5 topics, especially regarding personnel in the defensive line, receiving corps, and in the offense during short yardage situations. -
I've heard people say there's a lot of confused idioms that post on this board, I just thought they were using another word.

I know this is from The Opossum Gulch News, but is sage even a verb? If not, what is he trying to write?

Temple, Rice, and FAU are all on there. I guess it's not a good season to be an Owls fan.
-
Sunny and between 70 and 80 degrees. Perfect for tailgate parties. Perfect for watching a football game.

Yeah, it's official now. He was down by the school yard. He's weary, feeling small, one of his parents took his Kodachrome away, and Cecelia has broken his heart. So, he walked off to look for America.

I too will be at the Pourhouse. 70% chance of showers at Alabama during the game. Inclement weather tends to help level the playing field by affecting both teams equally and somewhat lessening the home field advantage by subduing the crowd. Plus, North Texas has been preparing for a rain game for the past 10 days by practicing outdoors in the rain.

The all green uniforms do look pretty sharp.

Do you mean like the Abner Haynes led teams of 50 years ago?

Troy just tried their own version of the "wrong ball coach" play from midfield on fourth down and half a yard. wkA3nxuMJoM Unfortunately for Troy, it didn't work. The coach yelled something to the quarterback and the QB started walking towards the bench making hand gestures to the coach. Troy quickly snapped the ball to the running back who fumbled the wet ball. D'oh!

What is the timeframe for the Tower Lighting? The kids love to stay for the postgame fireworks but I'd like to see both. Maybe we can have a live feed of the Tower Lighting on the jumbotron. It's possible if we can convince one of the Talons to wear Al Frankens old helmet dish.

Saying alot a lot does not actually make it a word.
