  1. Both. J'mison Morgan and Chris Babb are both destined to be very important components of this team if we get them. Both are outstanding talents that need the right situation. North Texas provides that for each.
  2. I would love to have both J'mison Morgan and Chris Babb here at North Texas. Collin Mangrum's graduation and leaving for grad school elsewhere seems to have opened one of the required spots. Now we just need to wait and see what else, if anything, develops that will open one additional scholarship. Johnny Jones has quite an established history of accepting transfers and then making them the best players that they could become. Shawnson Johnson from LSU Kendrick Davis from Arkansas Keith Wooden from Arizona State Collin Dennis from South Florida George Odufuwa from Arizona State All these players left situations at other schools that weren't favorable for one reason or another. Every one of them excelled at their game once they came to North Texas and worked with Johnny.Every one of them became excellent basketball players at North Texas. I think the same can happen for J'mison Morgan. Chris Babb, who is already playing very well, will only improve more as he will be in a far more familiar environment away from the frozen tundra of Pennsylvania. Chris has family and many friends in Arlington that could then attend all the games, and his father is Athletic Director at Cameron just up the road in Oklahoma.
  3. That's a pretty good deal for him if that is the case. I'd love to see him still here, but he can get a year of grad school paid for at his choice of schools if he transfers. Players that graduate with eligibility remaining don't have to sit out if they go to another college for a graduate program. He has been on the academic honor roll and should have quite a selection of options depending on his graduate degree program. Congratulations Collin! Two NCAA Tourney's in three years of play and then graduating with honors. Not bad, not bad at all.
  4. McGhee is going to be an incredible addition to the team. McGhee, along with Babb if he comes here, would be an imposing set of shooting guard and small forward that other teams will have a horrible time trying to defend. Both can drive to the basket as well as they nail the outside shot.
  5. They will both be here for the 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 seasons. .
  6. J'mison is 6-10 and 250 pounds and excels in a zone defense. North Texas plays zone, UCLA doesn't. North Texas has some excellent outside scorers lined up for the next few years, and another excellent player if Babb transfers, but what about the interior players? Both Odufuwa and Spencer are about to use their final year of eligibility. Who will North Texas have ready to play the center position after they're gone?
  7. J'mison Morgan to Transfer This 6-10 250 pound former 5 star center is the son of former North Texas great Ronnie Morgan. He made a mistake by signing with UCLA which was chasing after the highest rated players at every position, but not players that would necessarily fit their system. This kid can become an absolute beast. It would be incredible if he winds up at North Texas.
  8. Morgan to transfer Do'h! Typed so quickly that I wrote Ronnie instead of J'mison in the title of this thread. I had started to write Ronnie Morgan's son J'mison to transfer from UCLA but there wasn't enough space allotted. The former 5 star center with University of North Texas connections wants to play closer to his Dallas home. He never fit Howland's system at UCLA and now has a chance to reach his potential with a coach that knows how to utilize his abilities. I hope he signs with North Texas.
  9. I am very excited about Holmen's future at North Texas. As pointed out already by others, Holmen was very productive in the minutes that he was allotted. He is only going to get better. A lot better. Remember, this was Holmen's first season playing against other big men, and this will be Holmen's first spring and summer to work out in a college weight program. Prior to this past fall Holmen didn't specialize in only in basketball at Whitehouse as he also starred on the track team. I predict that Holmen with have upper body strength resembling Quincy Williams by next season without losing any of his quickness, and by his junior year will be a monster at power forward.
  10. Ben Knox can still develop into a valuable asset for the team. The ideal would be for him to spend his sophomore season bulking up and getting playing time at a juco and then returning to North Texas for the 2011-2012 season. The kid has the frame to potentially be a solid collegiate player, but playing against undersized centers in TAPPS didn't adequately prepare him for the Division 1 game. He really could use a year against tough juco competition and could then return to North Texas the following year, hopefully to split time at center with J'mison Morgan for his junior and senior seasons. Other schools 'place' these kids at junior colleges, why doesn't North Texas? Of course there's always a chance that he could go somewhere else after a year in juco, but I think we'd be pretty safe with him already having established himself as a member of this team.
  11. I would love to see TBA changed to BoBo. He'll clog the lane, rebound, and get the easy put-backs. Defensively that's excellent personnel for a 2-3 zone, and for offense that's two sharpshooter's at guard combined with two forwards with good range.
  12. Survey says............. Show us GREEN! ding!
  13. Well, I'm sure there was once some Indiana State alum that never wanted that local Larry Bird kid back because he never got much playing time at Indiana.
  14. J'mison Morgan was highly recruited by UCLA, Kansas, Alabama, and LSU coming out of high school because he had the prototype build to be a dominating collegiate center. At 6-10, 265 he was big, strong, and perfectly built for playing the zone defense under the basket. UCLA's coach Ben Howland decided that Morgan needed to trim down and become a lot quicker for their high pressure man defense. Morgan worked incessantly and lost nearly 40 pounds to fit Howland's system. Problem was, UCLA has signed numerous highly ranked big forwards with better shooting skills that are better equipped speed-wise for Howland's defensive system. The result has been that Morgan has sat much of these past two years. UCLA has recently signed the top ranked high school center in the nation so Morgans playing situation at UCLA is not expected to improve in coming years. I have little doubt that Morgan will be leaving UCLA after this season. He will have to sit out a transfer year and will have the opportunity to rebuild his strength to hopefully become a dominating center like everyone had originally forecast. And hopefully that all happens at North Texas; it's the home team, it's where his father starred, and it's where he's wanted.
  15. The game starts at 1:50 p.m. Thursday. You're already going to burn a vacation day at the office to watch the game, so you might as well just spend the day going to the game in Oklahoma City. The tickets are fairly cheap, like only $68, so start making your plans now.
  16. Not meaning to sound too MTSU Blew Raider, but isn't the team Sun Belt Champions because they tied for the championship, and only West champions for seeding purposes in the conference tournament? What kind of banner and what kind of team rings will be awarded for this season?
  17. Well, per ESPN, Dan Buckner has transferred to Arizona. Buckner will have to sit out the 2010 season as a transfer, then will be eligible for the 2011 and 2012 seasons.
  18. Joe has always been an avid supporter of The University of North Texas and Mean Green Athletics. Re-Elect Joe Holland, Justice of the Peace
  19. So true, Johnny Jones does have an established record of taking big men transfers that weren't getting significant minutes at other schools and quickly developing their games. Shawnson Johnson, Keith Wooden, and George Odufuwa are all recent Mean Green players that fit that profile; all quickly developed their games and became all-conference caliber players. I have no doubt that J'mison Morgan could also become an excellent college player.
  20. Wow, Dooley was the football coach AND the Athletic Director at Louisiana Tech. I'm sure Tech will be fine, but that's a lot of scrambling around for the school to do before recruiting ends. What would that situation do to North Texas with the stupid "job must be posted 30 days before hire is made" rule: minimum of 30 days for an AD, and then additional minimum 30 days to hire a coach. Yikes! and...on another note...Bitch Slap! kjvODj6O3dM
  21. He'll probably have many schools to choose amongst, but yes, of course I would want him here if he can help our team, and I wouldn't want him if he can't help our team. This arrest has very little bearing on his character. Give the guy a scholarship if he improves the talent level.
  22. Joey Byerly wasn't lost in an automobile accident prior to the 2005 season, he quit attending classes and dropped out of school. Andrew Smith was lost in an automobile accident, but that was during the summer of 2004 leaving plenty of time for Dickey to find a replacement for those 2005 and 2006 seasons.
  23. The problem isn't too many bowl games. The problem is too many teams that don't have winning records in their conferences being admitted to bowl games. Use the example that Texas Tech's AD used a couple years ago; that all you need to do is schedule four easily winnable non-conference games, and then wins in two of your eight conference games makes you bowl eligible. Seriously, why are the eighth and ninth place Big Twelve teams contracted to go to bowl games? Those teams have not had successful seasons, only favorable non-conference scheduling. Bowls are a reward for an outstanding season. These conference contracts cheapen the value of bowls by admitting teams that have sub-par seasons. Five wins against division 1 schools in a twelve game schedule should not qualify a team for a bowl game.
  24. J'mison Morgan has been placed so far down the depth chart at UCLA that he is barely getting a chance to play. Through 14 games this season he hasn't gotten to play at all in three games, and has played just a few minutes in the games that he participated. UCLA player stats from ESPN Last night he got into the UCLA game for less than two minutes. There's no way he's going to develop his game with that little of playing time. J'mison could, (and should) be a star player at North Texas. I would love to see this young man transfer before the Spring Semester starts as there's no reason to waste any more of his valuable eligibility sitting on UCLA's bench. Here's his ESPN evaluation prior to him signing with UCLA: All that is being wasted by sitting at UCLA.
  25. Yes, that's the attendance figures from people that have already paid for their tickets; season ticket holders and students. From a cash flow perspective, it doesn't really matter whether they show up or not. All the tickets sold to KSU fans will be additional cash. When all else fails, follow the money trail. And, there was probably an additional financial incentive from KSU for moving this game.
