  1. Two things: First, lighten up Francis, Terrance Taylor was having fun playing around with an announcement to his buddies on Twitter. Second, college athletes can enroll in summer classes at any school. It would only count against their eligibility if one enrolled in the fall or spring semester courses at a school. College students can take summer courses at any school without actually transferring to that school. Marquette fans are upset at Buzz for supposedly abusing that rule by releasing many incoming players he really didn't want, but we got lucky because we acquired a player that probably would have been a major contributor at that school. Terrance is eligible to play this season at North Texas and I am thrilled by his decision.
  2. C Vo posted this in another thread:
  3. They only set the large center span, but it covers the north and southbound lanes of I35. They have yet to place the spans on each side that will cross over the service roads an attach to the concrete ramps. For reference look back at the pictures. The One Way sign is on the service road adjacent to Apogee.
  4. Grant, would you please revise the Wikipedia for our assistant basketball coach Rob Evans. Wikipedia states that he is currently an assistant coach with the Texas Christian University Horned Frogs.[1] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rob_Evans Thank you

  7. He finished his high school ball in Houston (Christian Life Center Academy) and state schools in Texas would probably be the few that he could easily afford to attend for a year without a scholarship. I'd certainly consider bringing him in. He could be an excellent practice player this season without costing the team a scholarship. He would then play his senior season on scholarship in 2013-2014.
  8. I was able to obtain these videos taken at the Rec Center: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdFg6lV-TDg
  9. Forrest (and every healthy player on the team) had to play last year because of injuries and suspensions. Forrest and one other freshman shot less than 35% from the field, and both of these players averaged 1.6 points per game. Neither player would be expected to get much playing time with the roster depth this upcoming season, and with the limited minutes, would be really challenged to move up the depth chart for subsequent seasons. The juco route was an excellent decision for Forrest and it provides him the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution at North Texas or another college for his junior and senior seasons.
  10. Junior college transfer Will Latu may never suit up for the Sooners. Sooner Scoop was told Latu isn’t officially ineligible but the “likelihood of him failing to qualify academically is much higher than was previously believed.” It’s also being reported that Latu’s JUCO Coach Garett Tujague ( 661-362-3523 ) is calling other schools, looking to find him a new place to play. Latu has two seasons of Division I eligibility left and was touted as a tackle who could start immediately for the Sooners. http://blog.newsok.c...ligible-for-ou/ http://rivals.yahoo....ill-Latu-124961 Arkansas State fans believe they have a realistic shot at landing the mammoth lineman, but this may be a player that would interest Coaches McCarney and Canales. This is how North Texas basketball obtained Tony Mitchell from Missouri and that seems to have worked out pretty well so far.
  11. Thanks. Do you have the ability to edit out the jaded referendum propaganda crap that the anti-stadium groups loaded into the wiki?
  12. Denton’s laziest hoteliers have escalated their concerns over a proposed convention center and hotel, telling a pair of council members that their poorly promoted hotel market is glutted and calling for a moratorium. http://www.dentonrc.com/local-news/local-news-headlines/20120721-hoteliers-warn-market-glutted.ece
  13. Why not, for either question. Forrest, who's prior competition was rural west Texas 2a teams, has NBA aspirations and needed to go some place where he could get extended playing time for a season and refine his game. He now has that at South Plains, a school where 6 players from last years team alone have developed to the point that they've received D1 scholarships. Benford's job is to put the best possible product on the court within the guidelines set by the NCAA. If a player of Robinson's stature and ability is what North Texas requires, then certainly Coach Benford and the North Texas family would welcome him back. Forrest Robinson would bring many advantages to North Texas because he is already familiar with the university and its support systems. The coaching staff and many of the players would be new, but there would be much that he was familiar with. It is not a personal issue for a player that gets limited minutes in his freshman year to spend his sophomore season at a juco to improve his game. Neither the coach or the player should be offended as nobody turned their back on anyone, and if the player develops he usually has a lot of options after juco. What is far worse is when a player that does not receive much playing time as a freshman stays, never develops to his potential, and is permanently relegated to the end of the bench for the duration of his college career. This doesn't benefit the player and ultimately hurts the team by denying that scholarship spot to a more able contributing player.
  14. People also forget that SMU earned the death penalty for basketball and track as well as football. The overly extreme kindness of the NCAA resulted in the death penalty only being imposed for the football program. Multiple sports receiving the death penalty would possibly have led the perennial cheaters to expulsion from the Southwest Conference.
  15. Former North Texas player Forrest Robinson has landed at South Plains C.C. The freshman forward left North Texas for the opportunity to play more extensive minutes at a juco to develop his game. The 6-10 forward/center will be eligible to sign with North Texas, or any other school, for the 2013-2014 season. This was surely the best developmental route for Forrest and also freed a North Texas scholarship slot for a player that will likely be more integral to this coming season: a great move for all parties involved. Good luck Forrest, we'll all be cheering for you, and hopefully you may be wearing the green again in coming seasons. http://rivals.yahoo....Robinson-142589 This post has been promoted to an article

  17. Odoh will not graduate from Hill College until December 2012 an is not eligible to play at any D1 school until the 2013-2014 school year. This former North Texas signee may still yet have a chance of playing at North Texas, but I'll leave that evaluation to Coach Benford.
  18. By the way, there are some interesting developments on former signee John Odoh. The LSU fans are now posting a report from ESPN that Odoh won't graduate until December. Per NCAA rules Odoh will not be able to play until the 2013-2014 season even if he enrolls for the spring semester at a D1 school. Doesn't the signing of Keith Coleman look like pure genius right about now?
  19. Yes, or more likely the Memphis of Texas, a school outside the traditional big five conferences that can consistently win, recruit some of the best players in the country, and is always poised to make a run in the NCAA tourney. Decisions made now could determine whether North Texas will be a one hit wonder or an annual headliner.
  20. Try to keep an eye out for Triumph Select White in the NCAA group if you are attending. Triumph Select White point guard Jason Lusengo has announced that he intends to walk on at North Texas.
  21. We have often discussed promotional ideas and fundraisers for athletics on this board. The University of Hawaii spent $200,000 securing the services of pop legend Stevie Wonder for their August athletics benefit. Promotions have been ongoing, and ticket sales brisk ........... only one problem, Stevie Wonder and his management group have never heard of the event and are not going to be there. The money that UH spent was routed through overseas banks and cannot be recovered. http://www.mwcboard.com/www/forums/index.php?showtopic=41305 http://www.staradvertiser.com/news/breaking/162152515.html?id=162152515 http://www.honolulupulse.com/sa/uh-cancels-stevie-wonder-concert
  22. Riley received a medical redshirt in 2008 and has a year of eligibility remaining as long as he takes a grad program that wasn't offered at McNeese. I'm not predicting that it's probable that he'll play but it is possible.
  23. NBE Sports Report is reporting that Tony Mitchell is 'the' college player that stands out at the Lebron James Skills Academy: http://www.nbebasketball.com/w3/2012-0708/2012-lebron-james-skills-academy-recap-saturday/
  24. Is this our greatest team ever, at least on paper? I don't know, but it sure does seem to have more potential than any team in the last 30 years. This team has several players, that with the right effort, will get a chance with the NBA.
