  1. Here's FootballScoop's take on the new proposals https://footballscoop.com/news/breaking-in-radical-change-ncaa-proposing-new-subdivision-to-allow-schools-to-pay-athletes-directly This will certainly accelerate the next wave of realignment as Florida State, Clemson, Miami, North Carolina, NC State, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Louisville, and Stanford will all be clamoring to join one of P3 Conferences sooner than their scheduled GOR expiration. Will all of them be able to find a suitable home? Rumors of mass defections are already swirling. Will Pitt, Louisville, and Georgia Tech now be willing to join this "Magnificent 7" in cancelling the ACC GOR if it's their only chance of joining a P3 conference? .
  2. After watching North Teas not shoot until the last seconds of each possession for several years, it's hard for me to think of our team as "up tempo, fast break". Has the playing style really changed that much?
  3. Tony Denton concluded things quickly and never needed more than one suit.
  4. It looks like the Wasabi Fenway Bowl awaits SMU. It's played on a Thursday morning in a baseball stadium. ACC 9th place team Boston College from 4 miles away will be playing in this bowl despite going 5-6 against FBS competition this season. I guess the reward befits the accomplishment. .
  5. area bowls: Cotton Bowl Missouri vs Ohio State First Responder Bowl Texas State vs. Rice Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl James Madison vs. Air Force
  6. And North Texas might be 13-0 vs Liberty schedule, maybe.
  7. I'm not at all enamored with Liberty's schedule but the bowl committee shouldn't skip over a 13-0 team to take a 2 loss team.
  8. @Cougar King Is a complete and total ASSHAT The Houston Cougar mascot is named SHASTA SHASTA unscrambled spells ASSHAT Coincidence, I think not.
  9. Albino squirrel on the sideline and garbage bag black uniforms on the field....
  10. We had a "Moral Victory" against a ranked team. Yaay. .
  11. Attachment.MP4 Fox News host Lawrence Jones talked about his college days wearing Mean Green face paint as a North Texas fan.
  12. Rivals.com reports those offers, but also that Texas Tech has offered him a scholarship. https://n.rivals.com/content/athletes/kyle-koch-310645?view=pv
  13. They're gonna screw up and hire Kliff Klingsberry.
  14. 247 Transfer Portal info DeShawn Hanika is leaving Iowa State with one year remaining to play. .
  15. Landon Peterson has been at Texas Tech for the past 5 years and has entered the Transfer Portal. North Texas has offered and he has one year of eligibility remaining. 247 Recruiting Profile from 2019 with original North Texas offer Texas Tech Roster Bio Offensive guard Landon Peterson: He went through the Red Raiders' senior-day ceremony and announced Monday he will leave the program. Peterson, a fifth-year senior this season, has a Covid-bonus year available for 2024. The Odessa Permian graduate started eight games at right guard in 2022, but suffered a season-ending shoulder injury and underwent surgery that sidelined him for spring practice. He's played in 11 games this season, mostly on the kicking unit but little on offense.
  16. 247 recruiting offers from 2020 Harvard Football LB | 6’3 240 | All-Ivy League | Team M.V.P | December graduate with 1 season of eligibility Harvard Roster Bio .
  17. What solutions are available that would please both the students and the season ticket holders? Catering to the needs of both groups is incredibly important. Does the student section need to be extended? We don't sell a huge quantity of season tickets. Could those be consolidated somewhat to provide an additional section or two to the students? The student section was small a couple decades ago because very few attended. Thankfully that has changed. Your concerns seem valid and maybe it's time that the AD should review the seating allocation. Please send Jared a note with your concerns and maybe potential solutions.
  18. So true. We would be bowling if we hadn't worn black and pooped the bed against FIU.
  19. So true. Anything less than 50% against other FBS competition is a disappointment. I am not terribly distraught about this season, but it would be ridiculous to be content (long term) with 4-7 records against FBS schools. I do agree with NTSU52 though, there were times in our history when 5-7 would have been accepted. I believe we're past that. We'll see. It'll show in the hustle of the staff during the offseason.
  20. What about UH alum Kendal Briles? This season hasn't been stellar at TCU, but he has built a very impressive resume.
  21. I knew it was something like that. Thank you for doing the research to clarify.
  22. Winning is paramount, it provides the entertainment and gets the publicity. And if there was a blatantly obvious solution for not winning I would be adamantly voicing that as well.
  23. We should at least strive for both every season; a great team that does an excellent job of representing the university. I can't see why anybody would want to settle for less.
  24. I too agree that we need to make more of an effort to promote the SOW (Diving Eagle) logo on our Green and White uniforms. Although the helmets are admittedly similar to Oregon's, ours are an enlargement of our primary logo whereas Oregon's primary logos are the big O and the duckhead.
  25. Oh, I didn't realize that those two things were mutually exclusive. I didn't realize that we could build our university's brand while also winning football games to entertain students, fans, and alumni. I assumed those were the main reasons that schools fielded football teams.
