  1. It's easy to determine if there's a spineless situation here. Coach Mac will be at Rudy's Monday night at 7:00 for the Coach Mac Radio Show. Please show up and ask your quoted question directly to him. There's an open mike every Monday. That way nobody will believe that you suffer from the very affliction that you accuse Coach of having.
  2. You guys should probably head somewhere else if you're going to be exchanging shanker sores.
  3. And it could potentially get even worse with the game at ECU this week From novasmu on the ponyfans site:
  4. It's so sad. What's worse are the poor souls that continue to follow the program which refer to the NCAA probation era that predated the death penalty as their good old days.
  5. It's from today, but the author posted that it was from the middle of the second half. See that group of 20 people to the left of SMU's 86 person band, that's the SMU student section.
  6. Whoa there. UTSA is pretty good. They're only a couple of plays away from being 3 & 1 with wins over Houston, Arizona, and FAU.
  7. I found this interesting from NOVASMU on the ponyfans site:
  8. And FAU wins 41 to 37. Exciting game.
  9. Here's an upset that could possibly influence us in a very positive way this year. Yale beat Army 49 to 43 today dropping Army's record to 1 and 3. Army's remaining schedule includes Ball State, Rice, Air Force, Western Kentucky, and Navy and they will not be favored in any of those. Why is this loss important for North Texas? The American Athletic Conference (AAC) is slated to face off against the United States Military Academy (Army) in the 2014 Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl. Army will qualify for bowl-eligibility with six wins. This will be the first time a member of the AAC has participated in the game. New AAC football members, Cincinnati (2004), Houston (2005, 2008, 2009), SMU (2010) and Tulsa (2006, 2011) have all previously participated in the Armed Forces Bowl as members of other conferences. If Army doesn't win six, the Armed Forces Bowl will be looking to find an opponent that can sell tickets for the January 2 game in Fort Worth. Win 6 or more and North Texas will probably get that spot.
  10. In early 2013, Applewhite admitted he was disciplined by the University of Texas for "having an inappropriate relationship with a student at the 2009 Fiesta Bowl."
  11. The man who greeted viewers with “Hello Dallas-Fort Worth… let's talk sports" has died. Max Morgan started every one of his KDFW sportscasts with that saying, along with a smile and a magnificent baritone voice. For nearly 21 years Morgan was there to cover it all for Channel 4 – two Cowboys Super Bowl wins, a Stars Stanley Cup, a Mavericks title and two trips to the World Series by the Rangers. Morgan had been off the air recently and was admitted last week to a Dallas-area hospital suffering from congestive heart failure. http://www.myfoxdfw.com/story/26598264/fox4-sports-anchorreporter-max-morgan-dies-at-59
  12. Always a friend to our program. This post has been promoted to an article
  13. Yes, you can listen to it here: http://www.kntu.com/2014/09/22/dan-mccarney-show/
  14. Schedule all August and September home games for 7:30 kickoff on Saturday night. No excuses for any changes. There, problem fixed. The daytime games have been too f'n hot. Students contribute far too much to spend every damn game staring into the glare of the sun as that's a great way to entice them to stop coming back. Let games be fun. Put them at prime time when people actually want to see events, and have time to tailgate with their friends beforehand.
  15. You left Caleb Chumley's name off the list. The kid could potentially add another whole dimension to the North Texas offense: a giant freak athlete playing tight end that can also throw the ball. Defenses will be thrown for a loop when Dajon occasionally lines up at receiver and they're facing Caleb in the backfield.
  16. Northwestern State Demons beat La Tech 30 to 27. Big letdown a week after their Superbowl Ouch.
  17. Read into it what you want.
  18. Is it really weighed that way? What other variables factor into the distribution?
  19. I had my concerns about Greer, not because of his ability, but more because of his lack of play during the last three years. He was injured his senior year at Arlington, redshirted at UAB, and then was injured for much of last season at Navarro. He's only played in a few games since the 2010 season. To put that in perspective, North Texas was being coached by Todd Dodge and playing at Fouts Field back then. He needs time to adjust to the speed and pressure of the Division 1 game, and he lost that luxury by winning the fall camp quarterback competion. He's looked nervous as would most people thrown into that situation. I certanly haven't been impressed with his play, but I also cannot fault him for winning the quarterback competition. Let him learn Canales's system and in time I believe he will do quite well. McNulty: his career passing stats are one touchdown, six interceptions, and stunningly three of those were pick-six interceptions. That's really not very good, and he too may not be the answer, especially in the short term. That leaves us with Dajon as the only other scholarship quarterback that is playing this year. I have no idea what landed him in the doghouse or why he was playing third string. All I can see is that he has been consideably more effective playing the position than either of the players in front of him, even if he was playing against reserves.
  20. Well, so much for third grade level humor. Seriously though, Dajon needs all the repititions that he can get and this Nichols game appears to be an excellent training opportunity for him. We've got an off next week and then a game at Indiana a week before conference play resumes. This is an excellent chance to transition to the new quarterback. Hopefully Dajon will be in sync with his receivers by the UAB game and North Texas can resume it's quest for another bowl game.
  21. Is he taking over at SMU?
  22. I suppose, like everyone else, Mac goes to DaJon for #1 and #2. Is it really worthy of discussion who later gets sent in for mop up duty? ?
