  1. Overtime.
  2. UNT maintaining 1-0 lead with 20 minutes remaining in game. Aggys score with 19:04 left. 1-1
  3. UNT takes the lead! Scores at the opening of second half. 1-0
  4. Watching it on ESPN.GO.COM Tied at 0 at the end of the first half. 9 shots on goal for Aggys and 3 for us. http://espn.go.com/watchespn/index/_/id/2636110/launchPlayer/true
  5. Kenny Buyers is injured and hopefully will take a medical hardship year to save his last year of eligibility for a season that matters. Iowa is our third game and the last that a medical hardship year can declared without special clearance from the NCAA. It would be nice if a couple other valuable senior starters were to receive very minor injuries that make them eligible for a fifth season in 2016.
  6. Thanks for the clarification. I believe this folly will end after mini has had the opportunity to open against Iowa. The 2015 UNT football season should start sometime during the second half of that game. The 2015 season will already have been wasted but we'll at least witness building for the 2016 season.
  7. Who? Please explain.
  8. Are you inferring that they have comparable talent just because they graduated high school he same year. Many experts have disagreed. Many of the top football schools in the nation pursued one of them. Those football programs are successful because their recruiting staffs know what they are doing. The other wouldn't have had a single scholarship offer from any program if his dad wasn't close friends with a certain coach.
  9. https://rivals.yahoo.com/fiu/football/recruiting/player-DaMarcus-Smith-94229 Wow, I knew he was older, but I didn't realize he was class of 2011, and that's quite an offer list he had. I have also seen his very impressive stats from high school and junior college. It is disappointing that our playbook is so incredibly complex that it cannot be adapted to the talent on our team.
  10. Hey, we did have 120 yards passing. If it weren't for the interceptions and multiple near interceptions that wouldn't be half bad if it was a third grade game.
  11. During McNulty's first four years he's thrown 11 touchdown passes: six were to his own team and five have been to the opposition. What again is Einstein's definition of insanity? Seriously, last years UT game was a wake-up call of biblical proportions that North Texas doesn't have anybody capable of playing quarterback at the college level. The Mean Green then pitifully limped through the 2014 season, losing in embarrassing fashion to teams that they had destroyed the previous season. The North Texas coaching staff has had a full year to address the glaring deficiency. How was it fixed? It wasn't.

  13. I hope you have a great day and good luck in the upcoming season. Go Mean Green!
  14. This is certainly an interesting prospect. I have only seen film of one of his games, when Thomas led small town Ville Platte against Louisiana's powerhouse program Madison Prep his senior season. Madison Prep's roster is essentially an all-star team of the most talented players from Baton Rouge and they easily won the state championship. Michael Thomas performed extremely well matched up against 6-10 current LSU star Jarrell Martin and carried his team with something like 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 blocks. With six minutes left the small school was only down by two shots when Thomas was pulled following his fourth foul and a close game quickly reverted to a rout. I have no idea how well Mike Thomas has developed at the juco level but he certainly played outstanding ball in his one high school game that I've watched.

  16. Duryea played basketball at Denton (Texas) High School and the University of North Texas. At UNT, Duryea was a co-captain in 1988 for one of only three teams in school history to advance to the NCAA Tournament.
  17. Here's a question for all you Texas historians..... What battle in Texas cost the most human lives? Hint, it wasn't the Alamo. It happened in a war that many Texans have never even heard about.
  18. http://www.mgoblue.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/russell_bellomy_765104.html Wow, his career stats are, if you can believe this, even worse than the three quarterbacks that North Texas started this past season.
  19. Well said GE, well said. The Cajuns would be an excellent selection to replace UAB in CUSA. Our conference has lost western members Tulane and Tulsa in recent years and replaced them with eastern schools to placate ECU and Marshall. How well did that work? CUSA added schools which each have their fine merits but are all totally unmarketable in our part of the world. We once again have the requirement to replace a departing western member and let's get it right this time. The Cajuns aren't an excellent candidate to fill the void, they're the perfect candidate.
  20. Trey Keenan, the former standout at Argyle, plans to transfer out of Texas Tech because of lack of playing time. He's already a redshirt sophomore so its likely that he'll be looking at 1-AA and Div II programs. He probably would have developed into quite a player at North Texas but instead became just a discarded depth player in the Big 12. http://collegesportsblog.dallasnews.com/2015/01/texas-tech-loses-two-lineman-including-former-argyle-standout-trey-keenan.html/
  21. He does look vaguely similar to somebody........... Although it was only a three minute highlight video, I love what I have seen of this kid.
  22. I had a wonderful time. Arrived in San Antonio at lunch time on Friday with the family. Checked in early at the Hilton Homewood Suites on The Riverwalk (only $167 for nice suite with evening drinks and decent breakfast buffet included). Went to Six Flags Fiesta Texas for the lighting of Holiday in the Park. The park is beautiful, immaculately maintained, and the rides are much better managed that our local Six Flags park. We later returned to the hotel but were too late to attend the North Texas alumni function, went down to the Riverwalk for dinner and margaritas outside by the river. The Riverwalk was incredible in all its holiday splendor and the weather was perfect. Went to the game Saturday morning, ran into lettermen and San Antonio natives Jeff Muenchow and Tommy Harrison, and its always good to see the former players out supporting the team. The game was entertaining as the North Texas fell behind but had an unusual rally spurred by multiple UTSA muffed punts. North Texas had a last minute chance as elusive speedster Zac Whitfield rightfully tried to return a wobbly fumble for winning score. He couldn't control the ball but I'm proud that he at least tried. I talked with quite a few UTSA fans at the game and they were all very nice. Stopped at Black's Barbeque in Lockhart for a late lunch on the way home. It was a great football weekend despite to final score and a reason that I love that we now have these regional rivalries.
  23. No, not even close. SMU reported last weeks attendance at over 19,000 when there were very, very few people in that stadium. They report tickets sold...as in all season tickets, all single game tickets, all charity distribution tickets, and 100% student enrollment since the students have already paid for tickets. It sounds fishy since the overwhelming majority of those tickets aren't actually used, but it explains how they justify the reported figures. Since all students have already paid an athletics fee, North Texas could easily do the same thing and report every event sold to capacity. I'm glad we don't.
