I'm saddened by the loss. I do believe that I am uniquely qualified to respond on the other listed topics. I attended a dinner at the Gateway Center that was Dr Pohl's way to recognize outstanding alumnus Don Henley and raise awareness of the Caddo Lake Institute. Dr Pohl joked at the podium that he was thankful that Don named the band after his college mascot. My Bride thought Dr Pohl as serious and asked Don afterwards at the meet and greet. I initially cringed when she asked it, but Don explained that the band was not specifically named after North Texas, but they had gone through several animal suggestions, and they thought Eagles sounded iconically American, and then Don added that he'd already identified with that moniker from his college days so he was all for it. As for the Ford Mustang being named after the SMU team after the SMU - Michigan game of September 28, 1963. Total bunk. That story was Hayden Fry playing a Jedi mind trick on weak minded SMU fans. Mustang was the name for several Ford project cars starting in 1961.The Ford Mustang coupe prototype was already on display at the Purdue University Union in September, and the convertible prototype was unveiled weeks later at the US Grand Prix.

Scout rated Mike Thomas to be the nations 18th best center for the class of 2014. I hope he is staying in shape, developing his game, and getting his academics in order to join the program this summer. He has a ton of raw ability and could certainly be a contributor on this team.

Darius Anderson has been waiting for a Texas offer or Missouri offer that don't seem to be coming because of his 6'0" height. http://www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/college-football/article/Hightower-s-Anderson-endures-foibles-of-recruiting-6721946.php http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3606751/highlights/293113407/v2 https://twitter.com/d1_danderson99

Best of luck to DeVante in his career at Grambling. According to the Clarion-Ledger DeVante received interest from several FBS schools closer to home but there were no recorded offers. I wonder if the foot injury that he sustained while practicing for the FBS Championship and subsequent surgery scared away potential suitors. Kincade added he received interest from Houston, North Texas, Prairie View A&M, TCU, Texas and Sam Houston State but chose Grambling for the opportunity to play and the coaching staff. His career with the Tigers, however, hasn’t started well. Kincade broke his left foot while warming up for the Sugar Bowl. He was in a walking boot and on crutches after the game and underwent surgery to insert a rod into the foot last week. He will be out for another six weeks and won’t participate in Grambling’s spring workouts. .

To clarify, he has been accepted to UNT, it does not say he has accepted a scholarship offer. He may be a scholarship recruit, and he may be a regular student that plans to walk on at UNT. He's got a large frame, and at only 17 so he may still be growing.

North Texas alumnus Adel al-Jubeir was honored as Time Magazine Person of the Week in December 2002. I had the opportunity to meet Adel al-Jubeir at a dinner hosted by Dr Pohl during the early 2000's as part of Dr Pohl's Distinguished Speaker Series. Adel al-Jubeir has been a steadfast opponent to radical terrorist groups, and there was a documented Iranian sponsored assassination attempt several years ago in Washington DC when they attempted to kill Adel al-Jubeir, and bomb both the Saudi and Israeli embassies in the US. Link: Iran Assassination Plot An interesting point to this 2011 plot was that US Federal Judge Andrew Napolitano declared the assassination attempt legally an act of crime. If the plot had been carried out, the United States would have declared it to be an Act Of War by Iran. .

I'm right there with you Got5. DeVante was phenomenal in high school and I would love to see what he could do at the college level with all restraints removed.

I was able to uncover this video, and I believe it holds the concealed information that the impassioned requester requires. The video containing text

Our staff should also check on UNT 2014 signee Fonzale Davis from SOC who didn't qualify and was 'placed' at Kilgore JC.

Interesting note on Jordan Stevenson. He played his junior and senior years at South Oak Cliff, but had previously been a star running back at Dallas Skyline, playing in the backfield with quarterback DeVante Kincade. Stevenson transferred schools when Kincade went to college at Mississippi. ...and put the Honey Bear in there for short yardage goal line situations These guys could be an incredibly entertaining group.

I posted about this possibility (Jordan Stevenson from South Oak Cliff to UNT) earlier this week in the "Combo of English and Kincade" thread. He was incredibly productive in high school and I'd love to have him playing for North Texas.

NBC Sports: North Texas could be landing spots for ‘Bama, Ole Miss transfer QBs Very late last month, it was reported that thatAlec Morris had decided to leave Alabama and continue his collegiate playing career at UNT. Littrell’s moves on that front don’t appear to be done as Ole Miss transferDeVante Kincade confirmed to the Denton Record-Chronicle that, while he’s yet to make a decision, the Mean Green is at the top of his to-do list. http://www.dentonrc.com/sports/sports-headlines/20160105-football-unt-transfer-follows-fathers-footsteps.ece Football: UNT transfer follows father’s footsteps Bryce English was on his way home to Texas a few weeks ago when his phone rang. The former DeSoto defensive tackle had just decided to leave Kansas State and look for a school close to home where he could continue his career. North Texas defensive line coach Kevin Patrick was on the other end of the line, ready to make his initial recruiting pitch. That discussion resonated with English, who finalized his decision to transfer to UNT on Tuesday. Click the link for full story. .

Kincade is the type of player that would be an NFL prospect if he were somewhere that he could display his abilities. I hope he decides to do that here in Littrell's pass-happy system.

DeVante Kincade calls UNT his top choice Former Ole Miss quarterback DeVante Kincade is still on the market and told the Denton Record-Chronicle on Tuesday that he is strongly considering playing for the Mean Green. “I haven’t decided yet,” Kincade said. “I am still talking with my family, but UNT is my top choice.” http://meangreenblog.dentonrc.com/2016/01/devante-kincade-update.html/

Could be even worse than 30 days. First, the hard part; they must identify and negotiate a contract with a suitable candidate while being able to prove they showed no racial biases in the hiring process. Then, under Texas law, a 21-day waiting period must be observed before the UT System can vote to hire the finalist. The first part, as Texas State has discovered, can be a drawn out process all by itself. They too will have to wait 21 days for the Texas State System board to approve their candidate once they find one. And, to add insult to injury for the athletes committed to those schools, the new coaching staff is in no way legally bound to honor the scholarship offers that have been extended by the previous staff. The athletes could find they have no scholarship offer from that school and it will be far too late to start the recruiting process with another college.

He's from just east of Malmo in Sweden. I've only been there in Summer but I bet it gets extremely frosty this time of year.

Kincade is an outstanding quarterback and this could potentially be a great opportunity for North Texas. There are not reports of anybody turning down anybody yet so let's wait and see what happens.
