Kudos to SMU. They were more competitive today than just about anybody thought they would be. Congratulations on a good season.

Even the SMU fans know that it should have been Alabama in this game. Playing close against a Clemson team which didn't even deserve to be in the playoff was not a valid excuse to let SMU slip in. Alabama can slug it out with the big boys, tiny private SMU just gets embarrassed on this stage. SMU's only victory may be their ability to deplete Penn State of fireworks.
