  1. They were awesome. I don't remember the noise coming from the wooden bleachers so much as from the stomping of feet on the aluminum framework upon which the wooden bleachers were built. The building itself was tin and the sound reverberated like crazy.
  2. No...the problem is that the shirts are the wrong color...unless you like toothpaste.
  3. Officials at the University of Kansas have designated a particular blue shade (by number) that all departments must use when placing orders or creating anything KU related that is distributed to the public. North Texas could do the same. Actually, I wonder how many universities have done this? Like us, lots of schools have gone through the branding process in the past five years or so. Surely, KU can't be the only one that has an official designated color number. (A&M?)
  4. I agree that the colors on this board are fine, because the darker shade is kelly green. You don't see any aqua here.
  5. When our administrators announced we would be going to a new, "brighter" shade of green, they told us we would be using the kelly green, instead of hunter/forest. Kelly green, we were told, reflects the shade that is traditional to North Texas...the shade of green that was originally selected by the student body. Although I personally prefer the darker, meaner hunter green, I can accept kelly green because I think tradition is important. But, once again our officials have issued what one poster on this board aptly described as "toothpaste" green shirts to our incoming freshmen. These shirts are almost aqua.
  6. The information sciences building (ISB). Some of the old library "stacks" are still there.
  7. What you are looking at in that picture is the current Willis library mall. That is where the old stadium was located. When I was an undergrad in the late '60's, the track was still there.
  8. T. Lewis...1/2 of the animation team that created "Over the Hedge." See today's FW Star-Telegram, Section D, page 3. "Lewis is a well traveled Houston native who kicked around boarding schools in Switzerland and Africa before ending up in Denton where he received a fine arts degree from the University of North Texas."
  9. "Alumnae" is the plural of "alumna."
  10. The female version is "alumna."
  11. Phyllis George was a Zeta, too.
  12. There was no vote on Dr. Pohl. The vote was on the provost. The faculty voted 78% no confidence on the provost.
  13. Trust me, ipEAGLE...You wouldn't WANT to do anything else in west Texas if there was a high school football game to go to.
  14. Screaming Eagle66, I hope the 66 refers to 1966, because that means you graduated one year before Vernon High School beat you and won the district and abi-district championships in football. (My class!)
  15. Also...the museum was in the basement of the Historical Building, so I don't see how it could have ever had a swimming pool down there.
  16. GrayEagleOne...Not the History Building, the Historical Building. We used to refer to it as the Hysterical Building, because it was so old, even in the late 60's.
  17. FFR, no offense, but the green on that hat is the "toothpaste green," so aptly described on this board. That is not kelly...it is closer to turquoise.
  18. I totally agree, UNTX. Any shirt from 1985 was kelly green. While I personally prefer the hunter, kelly is all right with me because of our history, but the current color worn by new students is not kelly. "Toothpaste green" is the perfect nomer.
  19. The new eagle logo is fine...but it is my fervent hope that most fans, alumni, and students will reject the new color. Kelly green is fine, but the shirts the university gave students at orientation, and most of the shirts I've seen in the new shade are not kelly. They are a soft green, almost turquoise, and the farthest thing from "mean."
  20. Well said, Adman. Who would want a tattoo that reveals your age? You could tell which year you went to NT by the logo or the color of the green. No solid traditions at this university!
  21. I hate the "new" green.
  22. Gamebreaker...You have evidently never attended a west Texas high school Class 3-A football game. You may never see as much school spirit in your life as was exhibited by the entire city when my Class AAA high school team made the playoffs. Every downtown store closed at 3:00 PM so the store owners could travel to the out of town games.
  23. I am not Mr. Branch, nor am I Mrs. Branch nor any other relative whatsoever of Jamel's. I am simply a Mean Green fan who has noticed Jamel tackle the other team's ball carrier on numerous occasions, usually at the sideline. The position change this year seemed to work.
  24. I think it should be said that Jamel Branch has done a great job for us this year.
  25. There were quite a few positives about the La-La game, despite the score. Daniel is playing better, Quinn caught a great pass from Meager for a touchdown, and Patrick had a great game, rushing for 197 yards and 3(?) touchdowns.
