  1. Sounds like someone in Highland Park flying the old upside-down pineapple flag…
  2. Stayed at the Hampton right off Beale Street last week. It was fine for the price and a block from Beale and two from Rendevous BBQ. On-site parking garage for about $20. Was worth it to be able to walk around easily in the entertainment district.
  3. Excellent smack talk, well done.
  4. Who will they sue? A group of volunteer alumni donating money? The corporations backing real NIL money? In my amateur opinion, the NIL as it stands is the perfect way to avoid Title IX issues, as the school has no (official) role in it but the lion’s share of the money will go to two men’s sports. Not saying I agree with that outcome but it is reality. As others have said here, NIL should be about athletes getting endorsements deals or getting paid for autographs and not being I officially put on payroll by boosters. It’s just a damned shame it turned out this way and I am not sure it will stay this way. So give to the MGSF first and foremost.
  5. Not trying for deception, this was before the position battles. Speaking of DL positions, whatever happened to LeBlanc and T Johnson at DT? Both have pretty significant game experience and TayShon looked like the next big thing his freshman year.
  6. Also no nepotism in Aune’s selection as starter. Huge difference between being conservative and choosing to waste a scholarship on your buddy’s kid.
  7. Unfortunately, all but one of those highlights was a qb run! We need 60 percent completion DT this year.
  8. I guess I didn’t realize Wilson had transferred here without a scholarship. Good for him!
  9. Accidental, minor violations - yes. Not going to report their own blatant violations of illegal recruiting of active players on other teams.
  10. “the problem isn't the opponent, it's the home team isn't what the market wants.” this
  11. This. If he doesn’t get that completion percentage up towards 60 percent, it will be another long season.
  12. I would not call this a monster schedule. A challenge perhaps. But every single game is winnable.
  13. I mean, Seth raised the bar with nine-win seasons before Grant was even here. For years we would have sold a kidney to get to six wins and a bowl game and now that qualifies as “garbage.” I want us to contend for conference championships every year but some of the comments here are pretty over the top.
  14. Sorry @JonnyeagleI am keeping my guy this year!
  15. Lifer you are confusing two votes. The first was 2002 and it failed but we passed it in the Student Government at a lower rate. The first vote had a lot of pushback from students in part because a group of alumni were pushing it and students didn’t appreciate it (I think there were table top ads in dorm cafeterias if my memory is correct). The second vote passed, in my opinion bc the AD kept a lower profile and didn’t try to ran it down the students’ throats. Just one old man’s memory of it. I was only involved in 2002 so can’t speak first hand about the second one.
  16. I only saw part of one Gunnell drive but he looked good except for one pass that was almost picked over the middle by a spying LB or safety. They mostly ran the ball and Addaway looked great.
  17. Good lord this place has become the drama queen, sour puss board. I can’t remember one single thread in months that didn’t turn into some kind of complaint, hate the AD, the coach, whatever. I think I need a break from you people.
  18. And McNutley was still better than Greer!
  19. $20 is not a lot for a ticket to a sporting event.
  20. True. But our QB room was (is?) pretty bad so it was a safe assumption that Ruder was better. And we aren’t sure that the room was upgraded with all the changes, so when they bring in a late high-profile qb I don’t think it’s a stretch to assume he should be a better option. To me this doesn’t seem like a “little old NT” way of thinking but rather a fair assessment of our existing QB talent. I think a better example of that thinking is the freshman WR transfer from Nebraska, with many here talking about him challenging for the two-deep. I think our existing talent is equal or better, with more experience.
  21. Watching players run drills isn’t exciting either really.
