  1. Most of these names should not even be in consideration.
  2. Bring in a guy who has never been a coordinator and have him hire an OC with no coordinating experience? The offensive game planning would be off the hook!
  3. UTSA isn't servicing $60 million in stadium debt?
  4. People on this board want a guy with 2 years coordinator experience and less than 10 years overall experience (much of it an an analyst or GA) to head our program into a new conference is so on-brand for this fanbase. Good grief. Riley, Gillespe, and Perry are such an old Denton type of hire. It is EXACTLY what people outside the program expect of little ole' UNT. Why do I think this? In addition to the multitude of "who does NT think they are?" posts on social media after firing Seth, I experienced it personally this weekend at the Army-Navy game. As usual, I wore my bright green North Texas hoodie to the game and was stopped by a couple of guys while walking into the stadium with a "Mean Green!" So I walk over and was appreciative of the brand recognition which was surprising in Philadelphia. (Turns out they were Texas guys.) They asked me if we were going to hire Riley and I responded that I hoped for Fuente or similar because I preferred more experience. His response: "I mean, no offense, but it's North Texas. What are they trying to be? It's not Oklahoma or something." He completely dismissed my logical explanation that the AAC offers us the opportunity for a NY6 or eventually an expanded playoff spot. He eventually just blew it off and said, "just teasing you" but it was clear that he thought the concept of North Texas trying to better itself was laughable. I guess at least he knew who we were...
  5. Difference between announcing and hiring
  6. This whole list - other than Fuente - give me the underfunded vibe. This is an absolutely awful list.
  7. I was at the game Saturday and was licking my chops thinking about how they might be an automatic W next season. Now we will see but they were slow and unimpressive.
  8. Well even when they were short WRs the Bucs didn’t put him in. They tried to bring in that crappy retired guy that used to play for the Cowboys who then quit after a week. I don’t watch their games but check the stats. Never saw him listed as a target under the passing stats, only as a punt returner. That should tell you all you need to know.
  9. Sure, I know you weren’t. Mostly was adding to it. And I am not sure I would be ok with him as OC. Maybe under Fuentes or someone similar. But really only maybe. Ideally, I would prefer the HC and both coordinators (esp DC) to have college experience at their position. people include these P5 position coaches because they think it’s as good as little old UNT can get
  10. I wouldn’t hire him as our OC much less as HC. Why the hell are North Texas alumni the biggest enemy of North Texas’ success?? He has ZERO experience as an OC at the college level almost all his college coaching experience is at Tech, where he played. Never worked at a G5 or FCS. (Ok would maybe - and only barely maybe - consider him for OC if under an experienced offensive-minded HC or as a co-OC. But only in that specific circumstance. And still probably not.) Why do you think that we should settle for hiring some P5 position coach? Please explain.
  11. Did I miss the sarcasm font?
  12. This thread got really weird.
  13. Since Fry, I would guess.
  14. Agreed. He hasn’t won a single meaningful game for us yet! NOT ONE DAMN BOWL GAME OR CHAMPIONSHIP!! Let that sink in. We fired Seth for exactly the same reason. Time for a change. Don’t even have to pay for a buyout if we shitcan him before he is hired. (this kind of reminds me of the old TY Sports days) @Quoner @TheTastyGreek
  15. Deon is going to drive out half that roster, which is full of Texans. Hope the staff is watching that situation closely.
  16. I knew someone would do this. Shame on you.
  17. He raised the floor for expectations but couldn’t raise the ceiling for accomplishments.
  18. It’s because they think we are so small-time. Same reason they left.
  19. Including from our own alumni, like Sean Bass.
  20. McMurphy got jokes
