A guy with ZERO coordinator experience at any of the three highest levels of college football. Zero, and he gets a huge contract to have a bottom ten defense for two seasons. I don’t think there is a program other than NT where that would happen. Just ridiculous, and it is on the HC first and foremost. And his offense doesn’t make it any easier for the DC to succeed.

We would actually have to generate TOs to see it. Unfortunately, wasn’t his best night.

Most sports recaps of minor teams like ours are AI generated nonsense. I think they feed the stats through an AI program and it “writes” the story. They usually post it automatically without any edits.

I think Meager has him beat from that SMUt game under Dodge. Also a losing effort. Good stats are douchebaging worthless without wins. Yards per game the most meaningless.

Explosive but not consistent is the best way to describe the offense. They disappear for long stretches and then score lightening quick, giving a tired defense no rest. The tempo thing is arguably great for keeping the opponent off balance (although I feel like we rarely have big gains when we rush to snap the ball) but I am not sure it is an overall positive for the team as a whole. When our defense is struggling, trying to score as fast as possible might be a net negative. I would add the Morris’ aversion to the run game and very questionable decisions like constantly going for it on fourth down - even in terrible field position situations- doesn’t help the defense much either.

Oh god make it stop. This is yet another low level bowl team that can’t beat any team worth beating.

Negative in the turnover margin again. We are quite poor at getting takeaways. I guess it is pretty difficult to cause fumbles when you can’t even tackle. DBs too far off receivers to get INTs. Very little pressure on the opposing QB rushing three all the time. This defense plain sucks. We cannot beat a team with a pulse with Craponi. I would add that we aren’t running the ball enough. And tempo for the sake of tempo has also become our enemy. We rarely have positive plays when we rush up and snap it. At least I won’t have to hear about playoffs and rankings anymore.

That’s it. Glad we got the other scores but Memphis seems to have Morris’ number now.

Yes, our defense is likely still shit. For example, the FAU has around 70 yards passing today against UTsa. We are not good. Our offense is also very questionable against a decent defense. This will be a real test. This game really worries me, especially since there might be yet another OL configuration due to injuries. I am not optimistic. We need to be able to run the ball in the first half.

This is the best defense we have faced. If the offense doesn’t score early, it could be a Tech night. EMorris can’t afford his usual lack of preparation. And Craponi better not wait until halftime…

I hate to tel you this but UTSA, Temple, USF, Tulsa, and UAB totally suck. Rice and FAU ain’t far behind. ECU and Charlotte are mediocre. American is down this year.

I would have fired Craponi after last season or the Tech game. I would fire him today. That being said, at least the adjustment was made to go to the 3-4 and have multiple looks instead of just throwing out the 3-3-5 not matter the personnel like last year. Not sure if it was Morris or the DC who made that call. If Morris, I will give him begrudging credit for that.

The pessimism is due to the slow starts in the last couple of games and the perceived lack of preparation by the coaching staff to start the game and have the team ready. Not to mention the last defensive performance, continued stupid penalties (pulling 14 points off the board), and a history of getting kicked square in the nuts any time we have a chance to take the next step. Additionally, this is the best QB we have faced this year, not some scrub like the last three games. Need any more reasons?
