  1. agreed! anyone who has a female sports talk show host sucks! sorry if it's offensive, but NO guy wants to hear sports talk from a girl
  2. i hope to be there, but i think my bball attendance is about to take a dive (thank goodness there are only 4 more home games) because of bus. policy.
  3. possibly the funniest post i've read on here!
  4. i just got mine in and i love it! very good quality!!!!
  5. i'm hoping they promote the crap out of dollar hot dog night against troy. then tons of new fans will see us clobber the trojans and then get hyped up for the USA game two days later. last nights game was the most fun game i've been to at the super pit and i also left horse (which usually only happens at fouts). justin barnett played one of the best games i've seen from him and his strength was very key in making important stops on yemi late in the game. i really liked the 1-2 punch we had with barnett and simpson on yemi in the second half. simpson could use his quickness and leaping ability to front yemi and frustrate him and then barnett came in and would bang bodies with him. incredible game!
  6. i think you're on to something. it may be more difficult to recruit the dfw area because it may seem more prestigious for athletes to go off to ASU where no one's ever heard of and that athlete can build up the program in the minds of friends and family rather than trying to build up the NT program to people who have looked down on us their whole lives. since no one (including the students and alumni) knows the good things going on up here it's a more difficult sell.
  7. calvin watson had two incredible dunks!
  8. yeah, that was over the top! sorry
  9. sorry, i'm not sure who that is
  10. i would trust jack bauer with my life and for sure the mean green. he would outsmart mack easily (he just may have to take some lives in the process (LJ?)!
  11. wow! this is getting incredibly ugly...and hilarious!
  12. i completely agree, but i'm so completely beaten down by having to convince my friends to come with me to the games. every home game i feel like a telemarketer tryin to sell gold that is disguised as turds in a bag. because the marketing doesn't exist, most students have no clue that the bball team is good and after convincing people to come to the football games to watch what our team put on the field this year, getting them to trust me that the bball team is good is tough. it sucks that somehow trying to grow support for the athletes becomes a chore (but i would never stop or get sick of the actual teams/games). i know everyone on this board goes through the exact same thing.
  13. i think the decision about vince may be one of the toughest ones ever. he obviously has incredible talent, but to me his game is based on escaping the "sure" tackles. how well can he do that against the likes of ray lewis or dwight freeney? the bad thing for houston mgmt is the fear of passing on a potentially great player who grew up in your own back yard. they'd never get over that! i agree with some others, if i'm the texans, i try to trade the pick. carr and davis are good enough to get you places. you need help on the line and the whole defense.
  14. i couldn't listen to it either, so i was anxious all night to hear the final. now i'm pumped and don't know if i can go to bed anytime soon. great job guys!
  15. Highlights: making the cover of USA Today Lowlights: everything that followed
  16. hey eppy, just go back to the closet and join the old scrappy. the new scrappy could kick both your butts anyways!
  17. you expanded my exact thoughts. as the current students (hopefully) grow attached the the university (through athletics and RV's orientation speaches) hopefully the market will expand.
  18. i think it's going to be just like support for athletics. as the base of students grows, so will the support for athletics and the university (in attendance and merch.). there are a lot of NT shirts and hats seen around campus (i've noticed and increase in the last 2 1/2 yrs), but every student basically will buy from the bookstore or voertmans. once all of us students start leaving campus and having to buy our stuff elsewhere, that's when it will take off. maybe i'm wrong, who knows?
  19. i think he went to a place where the beer flows like wine, where the women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano...i think he went to Aspen!
  20. happy holidays
  21. if the basketball band can be at every home game, i don't see why there can't be a class offered on this type of thing and make it a requirement. actually, i would probably take the class as an elective if allowed.
  22. dang, i didn't realize houston dropped!
  23. bring on the cougars! we're going to beat a top 25 team at home!!!
