I don't really know what kind of grass I have, whenever the HOA gets really mad about the dead spots I just have it re-sodded. What would recommend?

SL was very angry about that. Angry at the refs. Kept motioning that it was just spittle from them yelling at each other. Since it was int he first half, KM won't have to sit out a half. -

They don't think they can stop us no matter the yards to go, they need to score a lot to have a chance. -

From what I have seen most of the non student people have already left. When I got here in the 90s it was a lower class minority population, with quite a few students looking for cheap rent. Now it looks like that ratio has flipped.
-
It no longer really is Cement City. It is being gentrified, but before that happened rents rose so high that most of the lower class workers had to move out long ago. It is mostly students now, rents are no longer cheap.

My attitude has always been that if a player is doing everything he can on the field, in the weight room, and in the film room, there is no need to call him out. Even in cases were it's obvious a kid isn't talented enough, recruiting is not his job. If the coach can't recruit the right athletes, that is on them, not the poor over matched student. Taking dumb penalties, obvious lack of effort, etc... feel free to be negative.

Hard disagree. CUSA rights went from about a $1.4M/YR each to about $200K each. ESPN renegotiated their deal with the SBC while it had two years left on it because they told the SBC the deal HAD to be renegotiated. The money didn't change significantly (~100k/YR) but the SBC had to agree to more weekday games, and ESPN has the ability to change the day of games during the season. ESPN and CBS Sports went to the MWC and told them the deal had to with three years left on the deal. Those negations are going bad enough the MWC commissioner has public stated they are thinking of moving to some other streaming based service instead of re-upping with ESPN at the end of the deal. MWC makes $1.8M/YR but rumors are that ESPN wanted to slash that by more than half, have more in season game moving like the SBC agreed to, and wanted to move more kicks to the 8/9 central slots. MWC AD's don't want to lose that money, but they also don't want to alienate fans. The LHN is a terrible deal for ESPN. Five years into their deal (2015) ESPN had lost $48M and had notified UT they expected to back out of the deal, a last minute decision by DIRECTV to sign on saved it. Even now, it may or may not be profitable. That is after they have count dozens of personalities and shows like Longhorn Extra and Texas All Access and really paired down on live coverage of Olympic sports. ESPN has already approached UT about renegotiating. UT has told them to shove it, which is why ESPN almost defaulted on the deal. So not only was that show those media rights aren't as valuable as people thought, it shows to me that UT isn't really that concerned about the long term health of the LHN. They are going to wring out every piece of silver they can, then not let it keep them from moving to a more profitable conference. NFL football isn't CFB. But, ESPN flat out wasn't able to bid on Monday night football. That had an effect on the price of it. Of course MNF is more valuable to ESPN than CFB. But it goes to show what dire straights they are in if they can't even make a bid. Who said the conferences have to have more members? Some of those who are P5 now won't be P4. And sure, the CFP is capped at 10 schools per conference now, but there is no reason the P4 can't change that to whatever they want, they control the FBS rules process. -
The AD's all work together with the conference president and bowl committees to figure out what makes the most sense and who should go were. Of course the AD is gonna talk to the coaches and team about what they prefer, but that is just it, preference. For example if the team/coaches REALLY wanted to go to Bowl X, but the bowl committee didn't want us, we aren't going there. If two teams want the same bowl, then conference president works with the bowl committees, usually trying to make sure the bowl committees are happy at the end of it. If two bowls want one team, then it really gets into politics.

Yeah, we've gone over this a couple times. Maybe we should make a FAQ for certain things that seem to pop up all the time? "Heart of Dallas" is a non profit formed by the City of Dallas, specifically the VisitDallas organization. It was funded to bring attention, and tourists, to Dallas. The Heart of Dallas bowl was funded for that reason. Also the Heart of Dallas Classic was funded as a neutral site game during the State Fair to be played every year. It only played once, had Army and LaTech play, and then was never organized again. The Bowl was a deal between the city (they put in about $400k/yr) and ESPN Events (they put in about $150k a year and agreed to broadcast). The city felt it was a pretty good deal the first few years when the B12/B10 were able to regularly fill it. However, the less that happened, the less the city liked the deal. The new deal has the city give about $150k a year, and even getting that was a fight. The city lost naming rights, ESPN partnered with Fox Sports. Fox Sports found Servepro to be the founder. ESPN now owns the bowl and uses it as they use about 20 of the bowl games, time slot fillers. The Heart of Dallas org stayed around for a while, then became a " new initiative in the form of a young professionals group composed of individuals in the sports and entertainment industries ages 25-40", and now has morphed into the Dallas Influencers in Sports and Entertainment.

UAB's 2nd string QB had to start their last game, and turned 21 before the season started. ODU's QB won't even turn 21 until that last couple games of his senior year. -
I mean I would love to play TCU. And I don't think that if they had no other option they would turn it down instead of playing us. But I am sure they would take any other option or pull any string not to have to.

I'm not sure it would be wise for the G5 to do this, more or less agree to give up any chance to a real championship. I also don't know if the P5 would like it, they need the farce of FBS equality in order to help their claim to amateur status. I think P5 loves the way it is setup now. No need to split the G5 off. They get everything they want and control everything, while not having to pay for workman's comps claims, or allow any sort of unionization. -

They don't own the big bowls, they own bowls like New Mexico, Dallas (Servepro), las vegas, Camellia, Frisco, Gasparilla, Idaho Potato, Academy, Armed Forces, etc. They only make money because they fill time slots under the current model. If the model changes it might not make economic sense for them to hold these bowl games just to fill air time. -
They ask themselves that often. Right now they think a larger % of their fans would be upset about not playing for the Iron Skillet every year. However that number is falling year over year. They have no rivalry with us.
-
Doubt TCU would be very interested.

It's my thread. The "CFB as we know it is changing because the funding model is dead" is a drumbeat I have been beating for a long time. CFB changed greatly when NCAA/OU lawsuit changed the ownership of TV rights from the NCAA to the schools, it changed greatly as more and more people had to pay for tv they didn't watch, and its going to change greatly as more and more people leave cable services. -

Another thing to think about, ESPN Events owns almost all of the bowls with G5 tie ins. What happens to those bowl games when ESPN has to restructure rights contracts? -

USA Today: Cord cutting accelerates as pay TV loses 1 million customers in largest-ever quarterly loss More evidence the economic model underpinning modern CFB is giving way. It was built on the back of free money to sports channels mostly from people who had to pay for it as part of bundle. Now people are leaving in droves, and that free money stream is being cut. @meanrob stated in another thread that he didn't see any reason the B12 would break up. I really don't see any reason it will stay together. UT is in the B12 cause they are the only ones that let them keep the LongHorn Network. The end game for ESPN is Disney forcing them to file bankruptcy so that they can re-structure all these contracts. Why does UT want to stay in the B12 when the LHN goes away or the rights fees from it get cut by 90%?
