Have you guys read up on his career? Very strange.
He climbs the coaching ranks and become HC at USU in 2009. He is successful there, peaking in 2012 when they got to #16 in AP poll.
Leaves for Wisconsin, stays there only two season. In 2014 the badgers win the the B10 West, but loses to Ohio St in the B10 champ game. He QUITS 4 days later, paying the school $3M to do so.
He immediately takes the Oregon State HC job. Does not do well there, after starting his 3rd year 1-4 there are rumors he will be fired. Instead he talks to the school and says that if they let him out of his contract immediately he will forgo the $12M they still owed him, which they have would paid him if they wanted to fire him.
Coached this year at Utah as an AHC.
Took the USU HC job.
Again, he left $12M on the table, never seen anyone do that before. His four year stint at USU was his longest run, and the only place he got fired from was Oregon St.
ETA: Also, he is a Utah grad.
