  1. Construction and traffic don't keep people from living in Denton. If those things did that Houston and Los Angles would be ghost towns. What keeps people from moving to Denton is lack of high paying jobs, hopefully that is changing.
  2. You still have to take the core classes with the general student population.
  3. It's a lot harder than it is at most places.
  4. It will be tough if he can put the locker room and on-field stuff in order. Previous UTSA coach killed us for a while until it became apparent to recruits he struggled with everything except recruiting.
  5. If a kid can hack academics at Rice I have little problem losing out that battle.
  6. Sometimes offers are given on a timed basis. Coaches might have one spot, offer two players, and tell them the first one to commit wins.
  7. Stop being jerks to one another or the temp bans will commence.
  8. This growth is transformational and good. Mainly because for the first time Denton growth is bringing in high paying jobs. Jobs mean people can stay here after they graduate. Alumni who live locally are much more likely to stay engaged with athletics. People who are engages to athletics are much more likely to become financial supporters. In the past, the effect of the enrollment growth was muted because 99% of them had to leave Denton to find employment.
  9. All I've seen is bringing in people who are already very solid, any idea if anyone else besides that is coming in?
  10. MeToo movement, feminist ideas, equality... all incredibly important to the kids attending university right now. Even the ones who don’t follow that thinking sure as hell don’t want to be seen as anti any of that. Hire someone like Briles and all it would take is one group on campus to start tweeting and and then maybe the student side looks like the UAB game every Saturday for a year. For the first time ever the administration is doing a great job of getting students to turn out. Those are our future donors, it would be so very old Denton to empty the revolver into our own foot because of this. Wet pay enough now to hire a good coordinator without baggage.
  11. Today’s kids are the same ones that went to school when you did. This is very important to all of them.
  12. Not sure it’s worth the risk of alienating the students. We had 11k students at one game, 8k plus at a couple others. It’s the metoo era, that won’t like that hire.
  13. Briles NOT named OC at Ole Miss. Surprising.
  14. Let me start from the beginning: First, the dinosaurs ruled the earth, then they all got fat and died and turned into oil, then... no, that's too far back. It's a game where you hit a ball and then run around some bases.
  15. HE’S PREGNANT?!
  16. Looks like they are talking to Riley Dodge about joining the staff.
  17. Looks like we’ll hire two. One on offense, possibly defense for the other.
  18. TD's biggest mistake was saying "football is just football" and bringing over a HS staff. To be fair, NT's pres at the time was in no mood to expand costs and decided to cheap out on the assistant pool.
