  1. DITTO here. thx for sharing the pics.. sniffles
  2. ME TOO!!!!!!! talked with a few talon alum this evening that were a blast from the past (thank sherman and cell phones). really wish we could be there this weekend but had too many other travel plans already arranged. just bad timing. will do our best to be there next year to see it at the new site!!! happy 50th TALONS!!! here's to another 50!
  3. I really, really, really would like to be there but it doesn't look like it's going to work out. Too many other things that were already on the schedule, including travel plans. This will, also, be the 2nd bonfire I've missed since 1986 (last year was the 1st, after we moved). I am so bummed that two years in a row, October has not been a good month for returning to see the Mean Green and, especially, this year with the anniversary! Darn! If something changes, I will do my best to get back but don't count on it this year. I hope I or we can make it next year. Best of luck and hoping for a super turnout!!!!
  4. it's doubly frustrating for me. Being in Santa Fe, I can't watch it on TV and my internet right now sux so I'm only getting about every 3rd word. which means, all I've really picked up was the half time score, a 4th quarter score and a few plays here and there. the rest of the time, i'm off doing something else. it sounds like a bad enough game without having it in stutter / static mode. BUT ALWAYS A FAN! (it's taken me forever just to post this).
  5. i think this is an awesome idea as well. and let's not forget about touring the restroom facilities.... i shudder just thinking about it.
  6. That's great news and more of what we should be doing... more exposure Good job!! And how cool is it that boomer is on the other side. Wish I could be there to see and hear it... wait, was that a rumble I felt out here in Santa Fe?

  8. Wow! I'm impressed! You have really put a lot of time and effort into this project and I am very pleased and happy to see the "toys" being taken care of again. As you mentioned, too many people have invested lots of time and money into these school "treasures" (including yourself) and it's nice to see them being appreciated I really hope the storage thing can happen this year. Its been an ongoing project and challenge for way too long. Best of luck!!
  9. the car looks great! did the bell get a make over too?
  10. so, is there a permanent place to park the Model A, yet, in between games and seasons that keeps it out of the weather and protected? Or is it still sitting just outside the stadium, vulnerable to hail, sleet, rain, sun, UV, and the possibility of theft?
  11. glad somebody is doing something and trying to take over care of the car
  12. great news. now maybe we can focus more of that moolah on a new stadium
  13. and let's not forget: there is no such thing as a "first annual" anything. Either it's the first event or it's an annual event (2nd, 5th, 20th...) but it can't be both.
  14. thanks for all the interest. I knew I could find somebody here! At the moment, the tickets are spoken for and I have replied to everybody who sent me a message. I really appreciate everybody who responded and wish I had more tickets to give away. Maybe next time Best of luck to everybody still looking!
  15. i had to go into rehab for several months to try to gain control. Here I am back again. I don't suppose one little post will hurt anything
  16. Since we have moved to Santa Fe, we are not able to make most (if any) of the football games. We still get our season tickets and support NT but I hate to have empty seats at the games. Last year, we gave our tickets to Keith's brother, Sherman but he was only able to make one game. This year, I have decided to try something different. I apologize for the tardiness of this announcement but if there is anybody out in the mean green nation who would like 2 free tickets to the football games this year, please let me know. I will respond (as best I can) in a first come, first serve basis. Our seats are in Section E, Row 20 Seats 30, 31. Thanks and GO MEAN GREEN!
  17. living in santa fe definitely has its perks. we have no A/C and it's a comfortable 70 -75 degrees inside during the summer. Our temps range mid to upper 80's typically tho some days reach low 90's and that's a heat wave for us. Evening temps drop into the 50's. Our humidity during the summer is high - 20 to 30 percent but in the spring it goes as low as 4%. July and August are the "monsoon" season, meaning all the rain we get for the year falls in these 2 months, typically. But, we get some snowfall in the winter but only for a day or two. The majority of snow falls on the mountain at the ski basin. And, oh yes, we get paid by the electric company because of all our solar panels. It's about $60 a month. Life is good! Don't miss the TX climate one bit.
  18. I'm glad I finally stopped by here again after a long absence. Thanks for the info. We'll have to look at the calendar and see if we can make it. We missed last year - the first time ever - and I would hate to miss again, especially with the special anniversary.
  19. I wish I could also get the UNT plates but unfortunately, New Mexico 1) doesn't offer UNT collegiate plates and 2) if you get a vanity plate you are not allowed to get a specialized plate either. What's up with that???? Anyway, appreciate all the suggestions and Rick, I'll work on getting a photo up today. And, while I don't think the mini has a place for a hitch receiver cover, Keith is going to put the NT hitch on his element.
  20. thank ya'll very much. i appreciate the input. very creative ideas i like are GRN NAEM, EPYLIVS and CQCOOTD *lol* but there are several others i like as well. if anybody has any other thoughts, i'm open but will probably be sending the form in soon.
  21. I'm not sure where this topic belongs so if it needs to be moved, I'm sure someone will do it and my apologies for the inconvience. OK, folks. I need your help because I have run out of creativity. I am trying to get a new vanity plate for my car since I've moved to New Mexico and have to register it here. You should, also, know I'm upset because I am unable to get the UNT collegiate plate here so am stuck with New Mexico yellow but I'm getting the balloon version. So, here's my dilema. We are allowed 7 characters here and so far MEANGRN & GOGREEN are taken. Does anyone here have any ideas on what I could hopefully put on my new vanity plate? The only other option I've thought about (and not sure if it's available yet) is MINIGRN. I am open to any and all suggestions and would very much appreciate the help. I know there is lots of creative people on this board who want to see me spread the mean green word around NM so please help me out if you can. I'll let you know what I end up doing. Thanks so much!!!!!!
  22. i hope somebody will stand up and applaud for me. Not only will I not be able to attend the game but it's unlikely I'll be able to listen to it because I have a fundraiser I'm attending (and helping set up) that day. I know it's going to be a great game and I hope there is great support shown for all around.
  23. some things never seem to change. I would really like to see the athlectic dept or SOMEBODY on campus step up to the plate and take care of these great things we have that were either already a part of the universtiy or donated by alumni and fans, etc. Many of us have tried til we're blue in the face to get this done and still our pride and joys are ignored and left to rot until the next gung ho alumni decides to fork out some dough and refurbish or buy new. Please, somebody at the universtiy... TAKE PRIDE in what we have and appreciate those things given to you and HELP PROTECT THEM!!! I don't know what else to do except keep trying. OK, I'm thru ranting. Sorry.
  24. great. i'll be on the lookout for them. i was hoping they would come soon. thx for letting us know.
  25. thx for sharing the pic. It looks like it was huge! GO MEAN GREEN!
