Baylor's 4th Game Of The Season Is At Buffalo
Starchild0224 replied to Green Means Go!'s topic in Mean Green Football
I've never tried to make a football schedule, but I would imagine there are a lot of things that go into making one, like finding a week open for both teams, one team may have played two road games in a row and not want a third while the other team is looking for a home game, etc. I'm sure there's more than just Dodge calling Morris (or vice versa) and saying, "OK, let's play." And let's face it, we're not privy to any conversations anyone may or may not have had about playing anyone. As for Buffalo, it's a win for Baylor, which is a program on the rise. FF Rick and I could give Buffalo a run for their money. -
Mean Green Defense Shines In Scrimmage
Starchild0224 replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
I wouldn't worry about the defense being ahead of the offense. It's not unusual when a team goes through a major change for the defense to be WAY ahead for a while. We saw that here in Graham when Brad McCoy brought the spread in to replace the veer. The offense will get it going before the season starts. -
I would think it would depend on what kind of penalties a team is getting called for...

Ah the days of pushing that car around the track!!!!

First off, it's really great to see the name Mitch Maher on here! I sat behind Mendal Weis in a class one time. He may not have been the biggest lineman we've seen, but he was plenty big. Blocked out the dry-erase board for me!

I'll have to go with Bonfire on this one. As far as I know I'm still the only Talon to be set on fire with the bonfire.

What Play Will Dodge Open With Against The Sooners?
Starchild0224 replied to NT80's topic in Mean Green Football
Depending on the situation, he'll either have the QB kneel or spike the ball. That or a time out. -
Yup, in front of an anti-American (at the time) crowd. Real brave. Way to promote free speech. Speaking of, have the Chicksie Dicks ever acknowledged that, while it's fine to say it's free speech, ever acknowledged that it's also our right not to buy the crap they're trowling out? To my knowledge, I've only seen Natalie on video tape denying that right. Hmmmmmmmmmm. Sounds like it works when they want it to... Sorry, touchy subject

I'll chip in my dollar to have them bomb Fouts.

Penson will be a nice pick up. John Outlaw knows his linebacking. -
Sorry, got in a hurry and messed up. FORGIVE ME SCOTT DAVIS, WHERE EVER YOU ARE!!!

1989 or 1990. Steve Davis was quarterback and I think we played Northwestern State. Scored late to make it close, but Corky's boys couldn't pull it out. I remember getting to meet Bill Mercer before the game. Really cool stuff.

Yeah, but ANY mascot that doesn't talk should have an escort.

LOL! It just takes practice.

Garrett Hired By Cowboys
Starchild0224 replied to NT03's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Hiring a coach to groom an assistant usually ends up as a disaster. I say go ahead and make him head coach. I'm sick of all the re-treads out there who get chance after chance, but don't win. -
Never, ever, doubt the Armadillo.

That's funny. When David Bourquin left, the Veer left with him. He's in Mineral Wells now.

Second year, and four overtimes, but no big deal. And what a heckuva game you guys played that night. Graham was lucky. Chance is about 6-3, he's shown over and over he can handle a double team and will go up and get it. He's been recruited mainly by smaller schools, but has heard from Okie St and SMWho.

I posted this on another thread and got no play, so I'll start one. Has anyone heard whether WR Chance McCoy has been contacted about playing at UNT? He and Reilly Dodge are friends and had discussed going to SMWho together. Now McCoy says he would play at UNT if contacted. He's not that fast (4.6) but is a great over-the-middle guy who isn't afraid to take a hit. Might be a good fit here. P.S. He's Colt's brother.

Spit take on my work computer. Now I have to clean up the news room. Worth it, though.

And, if it's not the crappiest design ever, I challenge anyone to find a division 1 stadium that is worse, or has as few premium seats.

Any word on whether TD would be interested in Chance McCoy from Graham? It's Colt's little brother and he's a two-time all stater. He and Reilly are friends and I have it on good authority he'd come here. May not be fast enough (4.9) but could be a terrific possession guy. He's tall and can go up for it and ain't afraid to get hit. Just wondering if anyone has heard his name brought up?
