The most damaging play in UNT football history?
Eagle-96 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
1994 was a 36-34 loss at OSU on a last second field goal. 1995 was a 51-10 loss at OU where we forgot to put our punter in on of all things a punt play. We snapped it to nobody and OU got the ball deep in our territory. -

Who Should Start At Quarterback This Week

His downfield passing is certainly an issue. -

5 guys can't block 9 even if you use the new math. Their linebackers blitzed on every other play. This is the same thing we have been seeing since USM last season and we have yet to make adjustments. It's the same old thing. The receivers should recognize the blitz and switch to the hot route to bail their quarterback out.

JD, you are right. Pass blocking wasn't the problem. DD said as much in his post game press conference. 1. I think it stems from the fact that Meager is making bad, as well as slow, reads and when he decides it's time to run, it is too late. 2. They were bringing guys off the corners all night long to tighten the pocket and keep Meager from getting outside. We need to do a better job of picking these blitz packages up. 3. Meager CANNOT throw the ball downfield right now. I can't say for sure but it looks like he is either still having shoulder problems or he is not confident in his arm strength but he is not getting it done. Quinn caught a ball that should have been picked off against MUTS. Three Tulsa defenders could have picked off the same play to Quinn on Saturday. He is throwing dead ducks past 15 yards. 4. I am tired of the WR screen, the quick 2 step out, the Swing pass, Screen pass to the rb for 5 yard loss. If Meager can't throw downfied get someone in there that can.

No way do we redshirt J-Mo for a hammy tweak. Remember. K-mo is not in the picture so we need J-Mo in the fold.

Should DD start Meager, Phillips, or Haynes this week. I think Meager is still hurt and it is obviously affecting his throws past 15 yards. I think we should put a QB in that at least is a threat to go downfield.

You're mixing too much cyanide in.

Yeah we got our bells rung alright. -
Not saying it is nicer. I was just posting the picture and info for all to see. It was built in 1930 so it is pretty old.

http://www.meangreensports.com/ViewArticle...0&ATCLID=189209 North Texas Unbeaten In Seven Straight After 2-2 Tie With Houston Courtesy: University of North Texas Release: 09/18/2005 HOUSTON, Tex. (9/18/05)- In a physical match that saw both teams combine for 40 fouls, the North Texas women’s soccer team battled the Houston Cougars to a 2-2 tie at John O’Quinn Field. The tie extends the Mean Green’s (5-2-2) unbeaten streak to seven straight games. Houston (4-2-1) scored the first goal of the match when Kristin Bay beat Mean Green goalkeeper Kandice Ellis on a rebound in the 38th minute of the first half. North Texas was able to tie the match at 1-1 in the 55th minute as sophomore Heather Hutyra scored her eighth goal of the season. Hutyra then gave the Mean Green its first lead of the afternoon at 2-1 with her second goal of the day in the 80th minute on a breakaway. That lead would be short lived as the Cougars tied the game back up at 2-2 90 seconds later when Bay notched her second goal of the afternoon. Both teams had two shots in the first overtime and in the second overtime North Texas had the only shot, but neither team could score the game-winner. Both teams had 14 shots on the day Senior goalkeeper Briana Buchanan, who played the entire second half, made four saves to become school’s all-time leader with 204 career saves. Junior Kristen Campbell extended her point streak to five games with an assist on Hutyra’s first goal of the day. North Texas returns to action on Friday, Sept. 23 with a road game at Northwestern State.

I have been following the Mean Green since 1994 and this was as bad of a home loss as I can remember. I kept waiting for the team to wake up and they didn't. Tulsa is a good team and all but I would be embarassed to lose to LSU 54-2 but I am mortified to lose to a C-USA team that bad: 1. Garret Mills beat us time after time on the crossing pattern. We either couldn't or wouldn't defend it. The sad thing is that we knew it was coming. 2. Our D-line has NO push up front. My grandmother could pass for 70% with the time we are allowing quarterbacks to set up. We have got to employ more safety and LB blitzes or our secondary is doomed. 3. We made no adjustments at halftime. We actually regressed. 4. My in-laws are in their 70's and need chairbacks to keep them comfortable for 4 hours. We walked about a mile to the gate with our 2 chairbacks only to have the gate attendent tell us we couldn't take them in because they weren't allowed this season. The woman in front of me took one in and I asked the attendent why she could take one in. He replied that she has a bad back. HUH??? I asked if I could check them in instead of walking all the way back to my car. No dice. I walked all the way back to the car and dropped the chairs off and got back in time for the national anthem. To my surprise, about ten people around me had chairbacks. HUH???. Then, during the first quarter, they make the PA announcement that "You can now get your chairbacks if you had to check them in before the game". I wanted to scream. I then walked all the way back to my car at halftime to retreive the chairs. That is Bush league. 5. The crowd was great. Hats off to the students as they really showed and were loud as usual. I am proud of the students. 6. We will see about 13,000 for Troy. I think the students will show but it will be hard for some alumni to get to a 6:30 game during the week. Not to mention that alot of first timers won't be back after Saturday's debacle. Throw in the fact that you can just turn the TV on to see the game and it will be a small crowd. 7. I know the sun is in the face of the opposing team because they are on the student side of the field but I really think that our boys should be on the student side. I think they could really feed off of the students energy. The team had to turn and coax the alumni side to make noise on thrid downs. 8. Danny Meager looked lost out there at times. He cannot throw the deep ball right now. I am not sure if he is still hurt. If his arm is healthy and he lays up wounded ducks like that then he has no business being out there. If he is hurt then we need someone in there that can air it out. 9. I am glad that Phillips got some playing time because we need more than one guy with experience at the position.

I brought my wife's parents to their first Mean Green game. They won't be back. My father-in-law kept saying. " They keep throwing the same pass to the tight end on the crossing pattern. He's wide open every time. Are they gonna defend that. My answer, "Nope". DD is soooooo worried about the big play that we line up 12 yards off of their receivers and they picked us apart all night, just like MTSU did. This was as embarssing as our loss to UAB when "Simon the Terrible" was coaching.

In 1999 we went to Baton Rouge and got destroyed by LSU 52-0. Next week we went to Lubbock and beat a marginal Big-12 school(insert KSU) 21-14. All is NOT lost.

http://www.meangreensports.com/ViewArticle...0&ATCLID=188823 Mean Green Soccer Faces Rice Tonight At Home Courtesy: University of North Texas release: 09/16/2005 DENTON (9/16/05) - The North Texas soccer team closes out its four-game homestand with a match against the Rice Owls on Friday at 7 pm at the Mean Green Soccer Complex off Airport Rd. The Mean Green then takes to the road to face Houston on Sunday at 1 pm. North Texas is riding a five-game unbeaten streak and a seven-match unbeaten streak at home. Rice enters the game coming off a 3-1 loss to 18th-ranked Nebraska. The Owls defeated 24th-ranked Auburn earlier in the season and has been regionally ranked the first two weeks of the season. The series with the Owls is even at 1-1. North Texas lost last season, 4-0, to Rice on the road, but defeated the Owls 1-0 in 2003 at home. On Sunday the Mean Green will face the Houston Cougars. North Texas has won the last two meetings with Houston and leads the series 5-1. Junior forward Kristen Campbell recorded goals in back-to-back games for the first time in her career against Grambling State and Missouri State. She also had her first multi-goal game of her career with two goals against Grambling State. Through the first seven games, Campbell has recorded 10 points, leaving her just two shy of her career-high 12 points she had last season. North Texas is celebrating Youth Soccer month and the first 50 fans at tonight's game will receive an autographed scorecard.

What you wanna do on Saturday is exit at North Texas Blvd. Turn left at the bridge and then turn left again onto the access road. Merge onto I-35 North until you get back to Tulsa.
