Question about safety scored by NT
Eagle-96 replied to Texas Stranger's topic in Mean Green Football
Rule 8-5-1-a states: It is a safety when the ball becomes dead out of bounds behind a goal line or becomes dead in the possession of a player on above or behind his own goal line and the defending team is responsible for the ball being there. The punter kicked the ball out of his own end zone. The fact that the ball went out of bounds in the end zone before the change of possesion is what makes it a safety, not the fact that he committed the penalty in the end zone. Only certain penalties committed in the end zone are deemed as a safety. Declining the penalty would still result in the safety. -
Congrats. Do I see another Mean Green O-Lineman in the future?

CB, The difference is that we are smacking on our own board. You came here as a fan of another school to smack about a game your team wasn't even involved in. Anyway, good luck to Baylor the rest of the way. It's gonna be tough for you but if you can get 3 more wins you guys will be bowl eligible and a Texas team in a bowl game is always a good thing.
-
Good luck to you Deep. I'll be praying for you.

good job Nick

It may be DD's dream to coach at Kansas State but I doubt it is K-States dream to have DD as coach. They could get any number of better and more qualified candidates to apply for the job there. But I can't. This is the first weekend my lady has had off the whole weekend in months -- so we have friends coming in town to visit. It would go over like a ton of bricks for me to leave all day Saturday and return that night only to be tired to whole next day. ←

Congrats to Baylor on your 3 wins against SMU(terrible since they quit paying players), Samford & Son, and Army. It will be about 11 months until you win again 'cause you will go o'fer the rest of the way. Hello 3-8. Hello to spending December in Waco(again). Baylor Battle Cry: Yeah we're 2-9 but at least we're BCS!

I was hoping a Cowboy win
Eagle-96 replied to UNTFan23's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Joe Gibbs had put together the perfect Redskins team. The only thing he was missing was a good quarterback. He had scouted all the colleges, and even the high schools, and he couldn't find a ringer quarterback that would ensure a SuperBowl win. Then one night, watching CNN, he saw a war zone in Iraq. In the background, out of the corner of his eye, he spotted a young Iraqi soldier with a truly incredible arm. He threw a hand grenade straight into a 15th story window 200 yards away--ka-boom! He threw another hand grenade into a group of about 10 insurgents a good 110 yards away ka-blooey! A car bomber passes going 90 miles an hour--bulls-eye! Right into it. "I've got to get this guy," Joe says to himself. "He has the perfect arm!" So he brings him to the states and teaches him the great game of football and the Redskins go on to win the SuperBowl. The young Iraqi is lionized as the Great Hero of the SuperBowl, and when Joe asks him what he wants, all the young man wants to do is to call his mother. "Mom," the young man says into the receiver, "I just won the SuperBowl." "I don't want to talk to you," the old woman says. "You deserted us. You're not my son." "I don't think you understand, mother" the young man pleads. "I just won the greatest sporting event in the world. I'm in the middle of thousands of adoring fans." "No, let me tell you," the mother implores. "At this very moment, there are gun shots all around us. The neighborhood is a pile of rubble. Your two brothers were beaten within an inch of their life last week, and this week your sister was raped in broad daylight...." The old lady pauses, in tears. "...I'll never forgive you for moving us to Washington." -

http://www.titansonline.com/news/titans_ne....php?PRKey=3079 One of defense’s highlights came in the form of linebacker Brad Kassell’s first career interception that he returned 21 yards for a touchdown to give the Titans a comfortable 23-3 lead in the fourth quarter. “Sometimes you’ve got to light a fire under people’s butts,” said Kassell, who received an escort into the end zone from defensive tackle Randy Starks and linebacker Keith Bulluck. “Sometimes that takes getting your butt whooped. We never want to have a performance like that again. The coaches were preaching emotion this week. As you saw this week, we ran around and people made plays. I think we just came out flat last week. As you know, football is an emotional game and you’ve got to play with some emotion.” We showed a lot of good things, but we still have a little ways to go,” Kassell said. “The season is a progression where you’ve got to get better and better. We took a good step forward today after taking a step backwards against Pittsburgh. We have to keep preparing every week like we did this week and play with emotion, and I think we’ll get a lot better throughout the year.”

Question about safety scored by NT

Not sure where the original line of scrimmage was but it was around the 20. The ref called an illegal kick on the punter and penalized Tulsa on the ensuing free-kick. That is a well coached punter. -
Who Should Start At Quarterback This Week
Eagle-96 replied to Eagle-96's topic in Mean Green Football
Not many designed rollouts from DD on Saturday. The problem was that Tulsa was bringing linebackers and safeties off the corners all night long. The line wasn't truely staked as much as it was 8-9 guys lined up almost single file along the line. The pocket collapsed too quick to allow PC, and J-Mo to take advantage of the zone blocking scheme we employ. For that to really work, the rb has to have time to see where the hole opens up and then hit essetially the best hole in any number of gaps. Any time we ran the zone block, PC and J-Mo would wait for the hole but they would get hit in the backfield or get bottled up in the pocket and go for 1-2 yards. Mitchell is just not big enough to pick up 250 lb linebackers on the blitz protection. We either need to start using our younger and bigger fullbacks or place some tight ends back there as H-backs to provide some protection. I know you guys don't want to hear this but DD needed to employ some short handoffs to the up backs, quick draws, and QB draws to get Tulsa to quit bringing their defenders outside. He needed to allow Meager to check-off and call the hot route. He needed to allow the receivers the flexibility to cut their routes into slants and skinny posts instead of the same old go route. -
http://www.kansas.com/mld/kansas/sports/12690061.htm Discipline likely for Cats' Clayton BY JEFFREY MARTIN The Wichita Eagle Kansas State football coach Bill Snyder said Monday that junior running back Thomas Clayton, who was arrested Friday by university police on a charge of aggravated battery, will have "consequences" to deal with. Snyder explained he was referring to internal discipline. The coach refused to disclose whether Clayton, who has the nation's top rushing average, will miss any of Saturday's game against North Texas. Clayton was released from Riley County police custody on $1,000 bond Friday. K-State police Capt. Richard Herrman refused to comment on specifics of the arrest Monday, saying a report was close to completion. According to various media reports, an employee of the school's parking services made the call Friday morning for a wheel lock to be applied to Clayton's car in an effort to immobilize his vehicle. Clayton reportedly had various unpaid parking tickets. According to K-State parking official Jeff Barnes, a wheel lock could be ordered if a student has three tickets that have gone unpaid after 14 days or five unpaid tickets, or if a student has parked in a reserved spot or stored a vehicle illegally on campus. Instead of waiting for the wheel lock, Clayton allegedly pulled away, nearly running into the employee. He was arrested in the parking lot of the Vanier Football Complex at 3:30 p.m. Snyder said it's atypical of Clayton, whom he describes as polite and courteous. "I think we have to let this thing settle down a little bit," Snyder said. "It's not what it appears to be. I'm not in a position to elaborate on that, but I don't think it's quite the issue that it was made out to be initially. "He didn't purposely do anything other than make a tremendous error in judgment. I think all of that will come front and center here before too long." Herrman said the report will be sent to the county attorney this morning for review. At that point, a determination will be made whether or not Clayton's actions fall within the criteria of aggravated battery. Riley County attorney Barry had not reviewed the official police report, but said he would not prosecute someone for aggravated battery if no weapons were used or if a suspect did not use his hands or feet to cause severe injuries. "There has to be some sort of physical contact for it to be aggravated battery," Wilkerson said. Clayton is averaging 164.5 yards per game.

He could play with handcuffs and leg shackles and still go for 120 on our defense.
