The problem is that players take the lead of their coach. Mcelwain was spouting a lot of garbage at us and our "dirty play". Players sometimes take that to heart and retaliate on the field. It would have been real nice if one of their players "purposely" targeted and injured one of our players because of some grade school BS spouted by their head coach. Losing your cool during a game and possibly inciting players to go after our guys is NOT being a good coach.

Road games are always tough so nothing is a given even against an anemic Rice offense. Our defense has shown signs of life as well. Rice should seem like they are running in beach sand compared to Florida so I think we can get win number two. UNT 27 Rice 13

Lucy can only hold the football so many times before we give up and stop trying to kick it.

What do you know of our next opponent (Florida Gators)?
Eagle-96 replied to All About UNT's topic in Mean Green Football
It's almost like the admin doesn't want people to know who actually attended here. Famous alums should be celebrated not hidden in broom closets. -
The only nicknames I want for him are: Champion, MVP, and All-Conference

What do you know of our next opponent (Florida Gators)?
Eagle-96 replied to All About UNT's topic in Mean Green Football
1. Pretty sure Cougar Queen has been banned from their board. 2. Gainesville also known as "Hogtown". Not sure if it has to do with coeds. 3. Gainesville ranked as one of the 30 worst cities in America for families. Todd Dodge DOES NOT APPROVE. -
Correct. I think everyone got hurt that day.

MGB: Littrell press conference tidbits
Eagle-96 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
You forgot the DD classic: "Eff you, M'effers" and the always great Dodge: "Cash that paycheck immediately" -
Dude, I don't think Fine would be good playing QB at 5'10 ' 320 lb.

Would we beat UTSA, UTEP, Rice as we stand today?
Eagle-96 replied to GMG24's topic in Mean Green Football
I fear that UTEP will run the ball down our throats and we wont have the ability to stop it without sacrificing bodies in coverage. Rice is a team that can be had. They give up 531 YPG on defense(222 rushing 309 passing). I think we can move the ball on Rice. -
How many road games will UNT win in 2016?
Eagle-96 replied to Matt from A700's topic in Mean Green Football
Road wins are hard to come by for anybody, let alone an FBS team with little depth and a true freshman QB. The Rice game will hardly be a hostile environment as few fans will care about this one but I think Rice gives us our best shot at a road win. -
I don't have any delusions that we will win this game as Florida is a talented Top 25 SEC team. The two things I want the most out of this game are: 1. No serious injuries. 2. I want Littrell to play to win the game. I want him to lay it all out there. Nobody thought South Alabama or Central Michigan had chances in their body bag games but they gave it everything they had and won. Florida 52 UNT 20

MGB: UNT and the body bag/opportunity game -- A look back
Eagle-96 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
The reality is that the $1 million dollar payday this week(and every other body bag game) was a built in reason for RV to not have to work hard. We only "need" the body bag game so that RV could cover his butt in regards to lackluster ticket sales, fund raising, hiring, etc, etc, etc... -
That's not what he's beating.

Cougar Queen will be watching the game with baited breath. as long as he's up from his nap in time.

Their captain from that game remembers and has vowed revenge:

When was the last time we had a decisive Win
Eagle-96 replied to KingDL1's topic in Mean Green Football
That's impossible. I thought we couldn't be competitive in a body bag game. Ohhhhh that's right. We've just had a string of "play to not get hurt" coaches here for so long that I forgot how to play to win a body bag game. -
Sorry guy but the mascot budget is a little tight right now sooooo:
-
I like the fact that he didn't take the bait at the end and made it very clear that he wouldn't talk about his personal views between the QBs. The last thing we need is a QB controversy.

MGB: Five thoughts following UNT's win over Bethune-Cookman
Eagle-96 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
They said during the broadcast that Wilson has an injury to his AC joint in his shoulder. The AC joint is the area where the collar bone meets the shoulder blade. Depending on the severity of the injury can be anywhere from a few days to 12 weeks recovery time. -
Remember that if true, this is an Oklahoma small school freshman making his FIRST college start. There will be hiccups to go along with the good plays. Please be patient with Fine. He was in high school 4 months ago. BCU is not Nichols from a few years ago. BCU is a good FCS team that will test this offense. Don't be surprised if he plays stiff for the first couple of series as this is a lot to take in for a freshman. Good luck Mason. The Mean Green Nation is behind you.

http://www.bcuathletics.com/news/2016/9/6/football-all-possibilities-remain-for-wildcats-in-2016.aspx Looks like BC didn't look great on offense in the quarter and a half they played last Saturday. This about Brihm: "Redshirt junior quarterback Larry Brihm, Jr. didn't look exactly comfortable under center. He overthrew receivers and failed to read blitzes accurately. However, Brihm had success running, but had a critical fumble inside the Wildcats 20-yard line that led to the go-ahead score for the Braves. Brihm only looked good passing on the Wildcats' lone scoring drive, which ended with him finding Jontavious Carter for a long pass with a beautiful pump fake. On that drive, Brihm got going by connecting with Carter on a number of underneath routes. Carter looks like one heck of a weapon at receiver. He was the offensive star of the day. Carter has the size and speed to give defensive backs fits throughout the remainder of the season."
