I think RV will want to do a complete 180 from what DD brought to the table. The new coach must bring in an exciting offense that will put butts in the seats(or nasty bird doo doo covered broken down metal benchs). People want to be entertained at the games. They don't want to see 1/2 yard and a cloud of rubber pellets kind of football. They want to see a dynamic, heart pounding, stand up and slap your momma kind of offense. We need an offense that will allow us to recruit and actually land a top tier QB and a few top notch receivers. We need a coach that will come into a press conference and make the hair stand up on the back of your neck and gush with Mean Green pride. Remember when Hayden Fry came in and stated that; "Someone has to win the national championship. Why not North Texas?" That's the fire and brimstone we need. We need someone with Texas ties that can hit the ground running with recruiting. Someone who can go into a recruits living room and sell them on the positives of North Texas as opposed to explaining how much they will have to overcome. Someone who will be able to use the Athletic Center and campus as a positive and bring some state top 100's in. And if he can shoot laser beams out of his eyes or teleport himself or something cool like that. That would be a plus too.

He was an assiatant at Iowa under Hayden Fry from 1979-1989. He also coached under Barry Alvarez at Wisconsin. His coaching record is similar to DD in that it was bad then pretty good followed by bad again: Year Record 1995 3-8 1996 2-9 1997 1-10 1998 3-8 1999 4-7 2000 9-3 2001 7-5 2002 2-10 2004 7-5 2005 7-5 2006 3-7 12 Years 55-84

We need some new blood in here to coach this team. Sure DD brought us 4 SunBelt championships, but that was against the sorriest bunch of schools the NCAA has to offer up. Winning the SunBelt is like getting to eat the tastiest turd sandwich on the table. I mean sure it's the tastiest one, but it IS still a piece of dookie between two pieces of bread. DD has no fire, no passion, and no will to change his philosophy or gameplan. He has built his house on one lucky recruiting class and coasted the rest of the way. It's time to put the old Buick into the junkyard and put some money down on a new car.

http://colleges.beloblog.com/ North Texas a favorite in men’s hoops race North Texas head coach Johnny Jones will be in an unfamiliar spot this season. The floundering team he took over five seasons ago is a favorite in the race for the Sun Belt Conference West Division title. UNT finished in a tie for second in the preseason coaches' poll with New Orleans and received four first-place votes, more than any other team in the division except UNO. The Privateers received five first-place votes. Arkansas-Little Rock, which pounded UNT in the conference tournament last season, was picked to win the division. The UNT women were also picked to finish second and received one first-place vote. The Mean Green had three preseason all-conference selections. Kendrick Davis and Calvin Watson were first- and second-team picks on the men’s team, respectively. Talicia Sanders was a third-team pick on the women’s team.

I know I know. There could have been 50 players in this poll.

You're asking board members to call out the players and you are just not gonna win that battle. You are wasting your time asking people to adhere to your position because apparently it is a position that the majority of this board, myself included, doesn't agree with. If you want to blame the players and even call them out by name then go right ahead and "man up" as you say. A coaches job is to: 1. Find the right assistant coaches to teach the players the finer points and to be his eyes and ears at practice and at games. 2. Motivate the players with his words AND his actions. 3. Recruit the players that he thinks will be able to put the team into a posiotion to win. 4. Motivate the fan base and the community behind the program. DD has not done very well and he has had 8+ years to do it. I graduated from North Texas in 1996. What is your affiliation Shaft?

The coaches recruited the players in question. Try again.

FW*Telegram sputtering offense has logjam at QB
Eagle-96 replied to OldTimer's topic in Mean Green Football
Don't fool yourself. The offense goes through DD. Flanny may call the plays but DD ain't sending the play out there if he doesn't like it. The reason we have so many delay penalties is that Ramone has to think of a play and then it goes through DD for approval and then to the Quarterback du jour. If RF were to be fired, the offense would not change AT ALL. -
Character and winning are not mutually exclusive.

Hal Mumme - previously fired for recruiting violations Mike Price - fired before he ever coached at Bama Frank Solich - DWI after he got to Ohio. Yeah, those are some guys we want associated with UNT.
-
Ed "Straight Arrow" Generro Wally Rig Jimmy McGinty Tony D'Amato Coach Klein Let's be real guys and gals. IF we get a new coach, it will be a coordinator from another mid-major school that wants to make a name. It won't be a rising star because they will hold out for a BCS job.

Let's see. Coach at one of the top high school programs in the nation where he is fast becoming a legend vs. coaching at at college that has an athletic facitlities that are worse than 3/4ths of the teams he coaches against. Dodge would be an idiot to leave a job that he will have until he dies to take a job where he will last five if he is lucky.

After Saturday the Central Tennessee area code will change to 046(read "O for six" for any MUTS fans on the board). GMG!!! Beat the Muts(!!!again)

I'm sure that I could find 7 skid row panhandlers that would trade places with me in a heartbeat but that doesn't make me Bill Gates. Guys and Gals. We won 4 straight conference championships by being better than 7 of the worst teams in the nation. When we made the jump back up to 1-A in 1995 we were the worst team in the nation and now we have moved up 7-8 places. That sure is progress on the field. At this rate we ought to be consistently ranked in the 40's by the turn of the next century. And your great-grandchildren will be able to see it all happen at Fouts Field because there aint any donors lining up to pony up millions of dollars for a new staduim. And don't mistake anger at a stagnant program with being a bad fan. The anger that is being displayed by a few honest fans is there because they are tired of being the joke of the college fotball world. I want to see North Texas succeed in all sports. I want the fans to be angry at losing to a MAC team by 20 points. GMG!!! Beat Muts!!!

Sports Network- Game prediction & preview

Tulsa 34 NT 14 We beat a very bad SMU last week. We can't all of the sudden think that we will run the table and go bowling now. We are 1-1 and have a long season in front of us. El Presidente looked good last week but he will have some growing pains as the season progresses. Tulsa clobbered us by 52 points AT HOME last year. We still have O-Line issues and although the db's are athletic, they are very young. I hope we beat Tulsa but I just don't see it. GMG!!! Beat Tulsa!!! -
Fouts Field also has this feature. Just click the link to see a view from your seat: http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A9G_Rtp1nwVFkSoA..._SabahArah2.jpg

GAME TIME NORTH!!!!!!!!!!!
-
After playing against the phenominal team speed of UT last week, SMU will look like they are running in mud. There were several instances where we just missed last week. I don't think we miss this week. I can assure you that the Phonies will not be as fast, strong, or athletic as the Longhorns. I think that Woody(if he plays) will be able to do some damage to SMU whereas he just couldn't avoid the Longhorns pass rush. Jamario should have some holes to run through and maybe, just maybe the qb's will have some time to let the receivers complete their routes downfield. NT 24 smu 20

SMU sold all of their allotment?!?
Eagle-96 replied to mrsgreengoblin's topic in Mean Green Football

Based on the Thread Regarding Johnny Q's Injury
Eagle-96 replied to UNTLifer's topic in Mean Green Football
Johnny once ordered a steak in a restaurant. The steak did what it was told. -
We are gonna rely heavily on Jamario. He will be a workhorse and I just hope he doesn't get beaten to a pulp. I think Weathers will be the defensive MVP just for the fact that he will see quite a few Longhorns in the defensive backfield and he will probably rack up quite a few tackles.
