1. Any word on if this will be the new premium site that replaces the Mean Green Report? I know I would pay for the premium content again if it helps maintain the board. 2. When will the new recruiting page be fired up?

I can't wait for the Spring Game. Maybe Dodge will have spring practice in the actual springtime and hopefully the Spring Game will be on a Saturday so we will have some fans at the game. I feel confident that TD and RV will create some hype around the Spring Game and will get the fans excited to see a scrimmage. I know I will be there and I imagine that quite a few others will be there as well. Do you guys feel that? You know that thing we have been missing around here for a while. What's it called? Oh yeah, HOPE!!!!!!!!

Great day for NT football. I think that we will all look back on this day as the start of the re-birth of MEAN GREEN PRIDE.

http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dw...ge.131bf01.html UNT to hire SL Carroll's Dodge By BRETT VITO / Denton Record-Chronicle DENTON – Southlake Carroll head coach Todd Dodge has agreed to terms on a contract with North Texas and will be announced as the Mean Green's new head coach during a 7 p.m. press conference today, sources close to the situation said Tuesday morning. Dodge is one of the most successful high school coaches in the state and the nation. Carroll has advanced to either the Class 5A Division I or Division II title game in each of the last four seasons and will face Allen on Saturday at Texas Stadium for the right to play for this season's Division I state title. The Dragons won state titles in 2002, 2004 and 2005. The former Texas quarterback was named the Schutt Sports National High School Coach of the Year for the 2004 season. Dodge was UNT's offensive coordinator from 1992 to '93 under Dennis Parker before returning to the high school ranks. Dodge will replace former UNT head coach Darrell Dickey, who was fired in the middle of his ninth season at the school on Nov. 8. Dickey led the Mean Green to the Sun Belt Conference title and a berth in the New Orleans Bowl in each season from 2001 to '04 before suffering two down seasons. UNT went 2-9 last year and finished 3-9 this season. The UNT board of regents will meet at 2 p.m. today to delegate the authority to enter into a contract with Dodge to university president Gretchen Bataille and athletic director Rick Villarreal. The board must approve contracts with a base salary that exceeds $500,000 for the term of the contract. Dodge's deal with UNT will exceed that total. The board's approval will be a formality before Dodge's hiring becomes official. Dodge's son Riley is a junior quarterback at Southlake Carroll and one of the top players in the area. Staff Writer Tim MacMahon contributed to this report.

Board Of Regents Meeting Tuesday 2:00 PM
Eagle-96 replied to Eagle-96's topic in Mean Green Football
I don't think they would have called the meeting if it weren't going to pass. If the coach is anyone other than Todd Dodge then we will probably know before the week is up. If it is TD then he may want to wait a couple of weeks. An in-the-know alum may let us know pretty soon if we're lucky. Where is Moot when you need him/her? -
BBA in... well you can probably guess what year.

RV and Dr. Bataille wouldn't be on the BOR agenda tomorrow if they didn't already have their coach picked. The board will be voting on a proposal to allow RV to enter into a contract with the new coach that goes above and beyond the $500,000 for the term of the contract that is presently allowed. In reality, RV has told the board who he has chosen "informally" so it is not on the record. The board has probably already decided that they agree on the coach and they will get to feel that they had a hand in the decision. The vote tomorrow will be a rubber-stamp formality. I think that once the vote is complete, the negotiations to finallize the deal will heat up in time for the announcement to be made this week.

I think he would make a great coach and he runs the west coast offense.

hmmmmm I beleive that Wednesday December 14 is the first day the job can be "officially" offered.

Board meeting set for Tuesday The North Texas board of regents meeting that was postponed on Friday morning has been rescheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday. The board will consider a proposal at the meeting to give athletic director Rick Villarreal and university president Gretchen Bataille authority to enter into a contract with a new head football coach. Several top candidates are still available, including former UNT offensive coordinator Todd Dodge of Southlake Carroll. The Dragons play in the Class 5A Division I state quarterfinals on Saturday. As I mentioned earlier today, the longer UNT waits, the closer Southlake is to the end of its season. Dodge is on record as saying he will not discuss other jobs until after the Dragons are done for the year. Former NFL quarterback and San Diego coach Jim Harbaugh is also still out there, although Stanford now appears to be interested. Harbaugh grew up near the Stanford campus and his father was an assistant coach at the school. Harbaugh, who had a great deal of success without athletic scholarships at USD, could be a good fit for Stanford. http://meangreen.beloblog.com/

Aggies talking about the possibility of Dodge
Eagle-96 replied to gangrene's topic in Mean Green Football
No worries. In fact I used to have a small disdain for the Aggies in the past but I have really grown to like them alot. I even find myself yelling at the screen when watching the Aggies make a bad play much like when I see my Mean Green run a belly on 3rd and 18. -

http://www.dfw.com/mld/dfw/sports/colleges/16175888.htm DENTON - North Texas' search for a head football coach could be entering the early stages of winding down if the first formal interviews are held this week as expected. A source told the San Diego Union-Tribune that University of San Diego coach Jim Harbaugh was scheduled to interview with UNT athletic director Rick Villarreal today. Asked about Harbaugh, Villarreal would not confirm any scheduled interview or contact made with Harbaugh, a former NFL quarterback who played 15 seasons with five teams. Harbaugh interviewed last month for the job at Iowa State, which ultimately hired Gene Chizik, Texas' former co- defensive coordinator. Adding that no one has been eliminated or considered a "candidate" for the UNT job, Villarreal said he would respect the privacy of any coaches with whom he has spoken, if they asked. "Until we say the process is over, the answer to every one of those [rumored candidates] could be a yes or a no," Villarreal said. Asked if he had spoken to Carroll High School coach Todd Dodge to gauge the his interest, Villarreal again wouldn't confirm or deny. Villarreal only said that from reading various interviews, Dodge had made "his intentions clear" that he wouldn't talk to anyone until after the Dragons' season was over, which could be as late as Dec. 23. Dodge said last week that he had not spoken to Villarreal. Villarreal said he has not spoken to LSU offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher. Fisher, a finalist for the Cincinnati job and now rumored to be a candidate at North Carolina State, has not contacted Villarreal, either. Asked last month -- given Dodge's degree of success at the high school level -- why he wouldn't at least speak to Dodge, Villarreal said, "I never said I wouldn't." Harbaugh, who played collegiately at Michigan and retired after the 2001 NFL season, had little coaching experience before taking the USD job in 2004. He was an unpaid scout and recruiter for his father, Jack, for eight seasons at Western Kentucky. Harbaugh turns 43 on Dec. 23 and has a combined 29-6 record in three seasons at USD. A Division I-AA non-scholarship team, the Toreros finished 11-1 and won their second consecutive I-AA "Mid-Major" national title Saturday.

DD was fired on 11/08. If you figure the job was probably posted on 11/09 then 30 calendar days is this Friday 12/08.

SLC to play Colleyville Heritage Dec 9th Final
Eagle-96 replied to OldTimer's topic in Mean Green Football
Next week is the Region final and SLC beat Heritage 56-7 in week 5. I don't think that TD will be free after next week. -
When RV buys Jimbo some kettle corn then I think the deal will be sealed.
-
I actually meant that I hope that 3-4 candidates will be interviewed for the job. Sorry for the wealth of confusion I seem to be spreading today.
-
Maybe that was a bad analogy using the head cheerleader. How about: A real pretty girl that is as good looking as the first but wants you to take her to Sizzler instead of Morton's. I think the point I was tying to make is that I don't want RV to jump on the first coach that says they will interview. I would hope that there would be at least 3-4 interviews if not more.
-
I don't want RV to jump the gun and offer the first guy that accepts an interview. Don't get me wrong, I think Fisher has the offensive pedigree we are looking for and he is coming from a top rated BCS school and all, but I would like to read in the DRC that the list has been narrowed to X number of people and that they will be interviewed accordingly. You wouldn't want to say yes to the first girl that says she will go to the dance with you and then find out that the head cheerleader was interested but you never called her.
-
If the speculation is true that Fisher is also being courted by UAB, Arizona State, and NC State then I would imagine we would not be too high on that list. Sad but true.

Buyout of DD's contract.
-
Yeah, Vic Trilli was a great recruiter who couldn't coach and we all know how great that turned out.
